Blue Jays Facing Bo Bichette Decision Before MLB Trade Deadline originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Toronto Blue Jays currently sport a 36-30 record and are tied with the Tampa Bay Rays for second place in the American League East. They also trail the first-place New York Yankees by four games, so they are in a decent spot at this juncture of the campaign.

The Blue Jays have also been trending in the right direction as of late, as they have won eight out of their last 10 games. If they keep this kind of play up, it would undoubtedly improve their odds of making the playoffs this year.
With where the Blue Jays are in the standings right now, they will certainly be a team to watch at the trade deadline. This is especially the case when it comes to one of their top stars.
In a recent article for ESPN, Bradford Doolittle argued that the Blue Jays' biggest objective before the deadline will be to decide whether or not they will trade pending free agent Bo Bichette.

Doolittle brought up the possibility of the Blue Jays trading Bichette for pitching help and replacing him in their lineup with one of their promising prospects, like Leo Jimenez or Josh Kasevich.

Doolittle writes:
"Bichette has been better than last season, but he hasn't played so well that Toronto's postseason hopes would be torpedoed by sending him away in advance of his looming free agency, preferably for pitching help."
Trading Bichette would be a massive move for the Blue Jays, as he has been an important part of their roster for multiple years. However, if they do not come to terms on a new deal before the deadline, Toronto may have no choice but to deal him. It would be tough if they lost a valuable asset like him for nothing in free agency.
Bichette, 27, has appeared in 66 games this season with the Blue Jays, where he has eight home runs, 38 RBIs, and a .269 batting average.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Has Strong Words For Chet Holmgren During NBA Finals

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Has Strong Words For Chet Holmgren During NBA Finals originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Game 2 of the NBA Finals featured a much-needed bounce-back performance for the Oklahoma City Thunder after a stunning defeat in Game 1. The Thunder dominated the Indiana Pacers, comfortably winning a commanding 123-107 outing on Sunday. Advertisement Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had a big part in the win. The 2024-25 MVP posted 34 points, eight assists, five rebounds, four steals, and one block. Chet Holmgren was one of the players who struggled in that first loss of the series. The Thunder big man only had six points and six rebounds in Game 1. The second game in Oklahoma City was much better. Holmgren finished with 15 points, six rebounds, and one block. The Thunder superstar had some strong words for his teammate after the series was evened up at 1-1. Advertisement "The special thing about Chet is nobody said anything to him," Gilgeous-Alexander stated after the Game 2 win. "He's such a competitor, and he gets lost in the competition, and I think he's the best version of himself now." "He's going to go out there and make mistakes just like the rest of us, but his intentions, his intangibles, his skill set, and the things you just can't teach that he does on the basketball court, they'll take over as long as he continues to have that right mindset. Which he does 99.999 percent of the time. And yeah, you don't have to worry about Chet. He's going to be that guy." -Shai Gilgeous-Alexander The Thunder will hope that Gilgeous-Alexander's words resonate with Holmgren moving forward. However, according to the superstar point guard himself, his teammate is capable of figuring everything out all by himself. Fans Are Noticing a Major Change About Arch Manning

Fans Are Noticing a Major Change About Arch Manning originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Arch Manning appears to be sharp as the upcoming season approaches. Manning, who's taking over as Steve Sarkisian's starting quarterback with the Texas Longhorns, has been discussed ad nauseam this offseason. The extra work he's putting in is giving people something else to talk about. Advertisement In a video posted to X on Friday, Manning worked on his craft, zipping passes to receivers while moving around crisply at Tulane's Yulman Stadium. "His throwing mechanics look a lot different this year," one fan commented. "That footwork is beautiful," another gushed. "A mobile Manning is going to be a problem." "Looks like he got rid of that slight tilt back he had," someone noticed. "Heisman SZN loading." "Footwork (fire emojis)," another analyzed. "Quinn was moving like a newborn deer in the pocket." "Man, look at the footwork," a commenter said. "Will never take it for granted again." Ewers is now with the Miami Dolphins, and Manning's surname alone gets people excited. His uncles, Peyton Manning and Eli Manning, both won a pair of Super Bowls, while his grandfather, Archie Manning, was a franchise passer during his days in the NFL. Advertisement On3's J.D. PicKell believes Manning will play more than one go-round as the Longhorns' starter. "Arch Manning is not going to be the first pick in next year's (NFL) draft because, y'all, he's not even gonna leave school," PicKell said last month. "I've seen a lot of stuff out there. I think, actually, in Vegas, he's got the best odds to be the top pick next year. ... I'm just telling you, I don't think he's going pro, man. I don't." Warriors Announce Surprise 2nd Surgery for Brandin Podziemski

Warriors Announce Surprise 2nd Surgery for Brandin Podziemski originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Golden State Warriors second-year shooting guard Brandin Podziemski had a banged up wrist that required surgery following the team's playoff exit in the second round against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Advertisement However, he apparently battled another issue down the team's stretch run that required a second surgery, which the franchise didn't make public until Wednesday, June 11. "Warriors announce that Brandin Podziemski underwent surgery to repair a core muscle injury," Tim Kawakami wrote on X. "That's in addition to his wrist surgery last month. Still expected to be ready for the start of training camp -- but whew, this is getting to be a lot." Podziemski, a first-round pick in 2023 (No. 19 overall), played in 64 games and started 33 of them during the regular season. He averaged 11.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.1 steals across 26.8 minutes of court time per night. Advertisement His playoff numbers against the Rockets were slightly down from his regular-season efforts, while Podziemski's statistics against the Timberwolves in round two slightly exceeded what he produced during the year -- perhaps due, at least in part, to the absence of Stephen Curry from the final four contests of the five-game series due to a hamstring injury. Podziemski was clearly dealing with both the wrist and core muscle issues during the second round, if not before then, which speaks to his toughness. However, the 22-year-old is going to be an important variable to the Warriors' championship equation in 2025-26, and his injuries complicate that. Either Podziemski will be a starter and/or major rotation contributor for the Warriors throughout the campaign, or he will be one of the young centerpieces to a blockbuster trade to potentially add another star alongside Curry, Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler. Regardless, Podziemski's injuries are certain to be of significant concern to the franchise as it enters a summer in which league insiders expect the team to be aggressively active in both the trade and free-agent markets.
