3 suspected Maoists killed in gunfight with security forces along Chhattisgarh-Telangana border
At least three suspected Maoists were killed in a gunfight with security forces in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district on Thursday, The Indian Express reported.
The newspaper quoted unidentified police officials as saying that the gunfight, along the state's border with Telangana, was still underway and that the number of deaths could increase.
The security operation was launched three days ago, ANI reported.
The operation comprises security forces from the District Reserve Guard, the Bastar Fighter Force, the Special Task Force, Chhattisgarh Police, the Central Reserve Police Force and its Commando Battalions for Resolute Action.
The Telangana Police was also assisting in the operation, PTI quoted an unidentified official as saying.
On Monday, a constable of the Chhattisgarh Armed Force was killed in Bijapur after an improvised explosive device allegedly planted by suspected Maoists exploded.
About 140 suspected Maoists have been killed in gunfights with security personnel this year. In 2024, 217 suspected Maoists were killed by security forces.
Malini Subramaniam has reported for Scroll that while many of those killed in the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh in 2024 were declared by the police to be reward-carrying Maoists, several families dispute the claim. The families claim that the persons killed were civilians.
The Union government has repeatedly vowed to end Maoism by March 31, 2026.

The third edition of the India-Central Asia Dialogue was also hosted by India in December 2021. The MEA highlighted that India and Central Asia, as part of each other's 'Extended Neighbourhood,' enjoy strong diplomatic ties grounded in centuries-old cultural and people-to-people exchanges. The Dialogue is a reflection of mutual interest to strengthen regional partnership through cooperation, trust, and understanding. The 4th edition will focus on enhancing collaboration in trade, connectivity, technology, and development. The participating ministers are also expected to share views on regional security and global concerns. Karnataka: Aam Aadmi Party advocate submits complaint to Bengaluru Police Commissioner for filling FIR against KSCA
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India] June 5 (ANI): Following the death of 11 people in a stampede on Wednesday near the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Aam Aadmi Party advocate Lokith has submitted a complaint to the Police Commissioner of Bengaluru seeking the registration of an FIR against Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) on Wednesday. The complaint alleges that KSCA's negligence led to the tragedy. A formal letter has been submitted demanding that an FIR be registered against KSCA. The incident occurred on Wednesday during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) IPL winning celebrations near the iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium when thousands of fans gathered to catch a glimpse of their favourite players. Social activist Snehamayi Krishna also filed a complaint at the Cubbon Park Police Station to register a case under Section 106 of the Indian Penal Code against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, and office bearers of the Karnataka State Cricket Board for negligence. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated at a press conference that 11 people died in the incident while 33 others were injured. IPL chairman Arun Dhumal expressed condolences on behalf of the BCCI to the families who had lost their members in the stampede. 'We express condolences to the families of the deceased. A title win was to be celebrated; rather, the loss of lives is being mourned,' he said. Arun Dhumal said the BCCI-organised IPL concluded on Tuesday. He said the local administration will look into the reasons for the stampede and take the required steps. He said that after learning of the stampede, and that a felicitation event was being held, he conveyed that the event should stop. Answering a query, Dhumal said they were not aware that an event was being held and that they had no information on whether the cricket fans were invited or came on their own. 'This is a very unfortunate incident... We had no information that such an event was being planned... If such events are planned in the future, then proper arrangements should be made... Those who were sitting inside the stadium had no information about the incident,' Arun Dhumal told ANI. Siddaramaiah also expressed his deep sorrow over the incident. 'A major tragedy occurred during the victory celebrations. It happened near the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The government has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the deceased. The government will provide free treatment to the injured. Eleven people died and 33 were injured in the stampede. This tragedy should not have happened. The government expresses deep sorrow over this incident.' (ANI)

"Despite political differences, we stand together," Kanimozhi after meeting EAM Jaishankar along with all-party delegation

Jaishankar interacted with the All-Party Delegation led by DMK MP Kanimozhi, following their recent multi-nation visit to Russia, Latvia, Slovenia, Greece, and Spain. Sharing an update on X, Jaishankar wrote, 'Glad to interact with the All Party Delegation led by @KanimozhiDMK that visited Russia, Latvia, Slovenia, Greece and Spain.' The delegation's visit was part of a global outreach initiative aimed at briefing key nations on Operation Sindoor and India's counter-terrorism stance following the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
