CBI arrests official & agent in 7 fake Tatkaal passports case

Time of India2 days ago

Mumbai: The CBI has arrested a passport official and an agent after it was allegedly found that seven passports were issued on the basis of fake documents, and five of the passport holders have left the country, raising security concerns.
The investigation showed that the identity of the seven passport holders is not clear. "It is a grave security concern that the seven passports have been issued fresh in the Tatkaal mode," CBI said in the remand application.
The CBI produced the arrested accused before the court Wednesday for their remand and informed the court that the duo facilitated passport issuance for "seven unknown persons purporting as Raj Pareshkumar Prajapati, Sameer Parvez Shaikh, Mumtaz Parvez Shaikh, Nipa Tushar Shah, Roshni Shah, Tushar Prakash Shah and Jay Vishnubhai Prajapati...
The seven unknown persons had submitted forged documents such as Aadhaar and PAN card copies, bank statements and birth certificates in token of their address and identity proof in the passport office".
Further, passports in the name of Nipa Tushar Shah, Tushar Prakash Shah and Jay Vishnubhai Prajapati have been issued in the ECNR mode (Emigration Check Not Required)," CBI said.
The court granted the CBI custody of the accused until June 2.

In July last year, the CBI, with the assistance of RPO Mumbai officials and the vigilance department, conducted surprise inspections at the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) centres in Malad and Lower Parel.
One arrested individual, Akshay Meena, served as a verification officer at the Lower Parel PSK. He allegedly maintained regular contact with agents and received illegal payments for facilitating passport issuance. The investigation showed his involvement in issuing passports to seven individuals and sharing illegal payments with colleagues.
The CBI's examination of WhatsApp communications between Meena and other accused allegedly showed discussions about payments and coordination regarding the seven suspicious passport applications.

Man arrested for threatening PM in bid to implicate rival

1 2 Bhagalpur: A 35-year-old man, Sameer Kumar Ranjan of Maheshi village in Bhagalpur district, was arrested on Thursday night for allegedly sending a threat message against PM Narendra Modi via a social media platform, using another man's mobile data in a calculated attempt to implicate him over a property dispute. The threat call was made to the Prime Minister's Office. The alert was triggered on Thursday, coinciding with the PM's two-day visit to Bihar, during which he participated in a roadshow in Patna and a public meeting in Bikramganj. Intelligence agencies including the NIA, IB and Bhagalpur police were placed on high alert. Bhagalpur SSP Hriday Kant formed a special investigation team (SIT) led by DSP (law and order) Chandra Bhushan and including officials from the DIU, CIAT and Sultanganj police. The team began a discreet probe to trace the origin of the message. SSP Hriday Kant said a detailed technical analysis led the SIT to a mobile number registered to a septuagenarian, Mantu Chowdhary of Maheshi village. "He said he is illiterate and uses only a basic keypad phone. He claimed Sameer had trapped him," said the SSP. The SIT found that Sameer, a BCA graduate and computer-literate, had used Mantu's mobile data to send the threat via a WhatsApp call using a virtual private network (VPN), which he accessed 71 times through another fingerprint-secured phone. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Perdagangkan CFD Emas dengan Broker Tepercaya IC Markets Mendaftar Undo During interrogation, Sameer confessed to the crime. Sameer had lost his job during the Covid-19 pandemic and had been doing odd jobs, including sharecropping. Police said the threat was part of a deliberate ploy to get Mantu into trouble. "The accused remains in custody at Sultanganj police station under tight security," the SSP said, adding that technical teams will analyse data from the seized cellphone. An expert said VPNs encrypt data and mask IP addresses, making such threats traceable only through in-depth forensic analysis.

Arizona: Explosive report claims drama professor accused of forcing student to undress onstage, watch porn

Arizona: Explosive report claims drama professor accused of forcing student to undress onstage, watch porn. (Pic credit: MCC website) A shocking investigative report by the Arizona Republic has unveiled disturbing allegations against a drama professor at Mesa Community College, Mace Archer, 56, who is accused of coercing students to strip, flirting, and exposing them to pornography during class. School officials have launched an investigation into the claims, though students assert their complaints were ignored for months before the probe. According to the report, students in Archer's drama class maintained a shared file documenting two years of alleged "sexual depravity." This file reportedly contains over a dozen anonymous accusations. Among the most unsettling allegations are claims that Archer coached a student to "dive into" her personal experience of sexual assault for performance purposes and, in another alleged incident, straddled a student during a "demonstration." He is also accused of playing "orgy porn" videos for his students. Most disturbingly, Archer is alleged to have coerced three female students, some of whom were still teenagers, into taking off their clothes on stage. Under the guise of "vulnerability exercises" for midterms, students were reportedly forced to strip down to their underwear or go completely nude in front of Archer and their classmates. A student in Archer's class, told the Republic that the purpose of the midterm was for students to face their fears, not to end up nude. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo However, she and other female students claim Archer made it precisely about that. "On the first day, two women stripped down to their underwear. The person who got naked was on the second day," the student recounted. "We all knew what to expect." She described the scene of one student stripping silently, "She was just silent. She just took her clothes off. People were kind of shocked, but it was silent. No music, no talking, nothing." The student was one of approximately 16 students in a second-level acting class taught by Archer, which she said was intended to test the limits of students' fear. While school officials would not confirm to the Arizona Republic whether encouraging or watching students undress in an acting class constituted an explicit policy violation, the publication noted that school rules prohibit "any unwelcome conduct that a reasonable person would find so severe, pervasive, and objectively offensive that it denies a person equal educational access." Administrators for Maricopa Community Colleges, the district overseeing Mesa Community College, declined interview requests from the Arizona Republic. Lindsey Wilson, a spokesperson for the district, said in a May 19 email, "Because this is an active personnel matter, we cannot provide specific details to protect the privacy of those involved." Wilson added, "Our colleges take any allegations of misconduct seriously and are committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for students, faculty, and staff," assuring that appropriate action would be taken based on the investigation's outcome. The Mesa Police Department confirmed it is not currently investigating the accusations.

What led Houston Astros pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. to hire security for himself and his daughter

Because the threats got so serious, Lance McCullers' wife, Kara, had to discuss them by phone in front of their daughter. The veteran pitcher has had to comfort his daughter after she innocently asked him about the meaning of threats and the possibility of harm to their family. These serious dangers have changed normal family life so much that security services are now necessary. Online harassment reaches dangerous new levels for Houston Astros families The issue with Lance McCullers Jr. is part of a troubling trend for players and their families, as online attacks have turned from basic complaints to actual threats. After learning about the threats made against the McCullers family, the Houston Astros called both the MLB security team and the Houston Police Department. Police representatives have stated that the case is still under investigation as authorities attempt to determine who sent the threatening messages. Earlier this month, Red Sox reliever Liam Hendriks experienced the same problems when his family was threatened after he struggled against the New York Mets. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với sàn môi giới tin cậy IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo The 36-year-old pitcher, who recovered from non-Hodgkin lymphoma, said online trolls wished he had died of cancer, showing just how far these bullies will go. The reaction from bettors in both events suggests that sports betting has made fans angrier, and they now direct their frustrations at the players. Security measures and league response to protect Major League Baseball families Lance McCullers Jr. acknowledged that hiring 24-hour security became an absolute necessity once threats escalated to include his children, stating simply, "You have to at that point." The Houston Astros organisation has implemented comprehensive security protocols, including uniformed police officers stationed in family seating sections during home games, measures that were established even before the recent threats against the McCullers family. Milwaukee Brewers All-Star Christian Yelich, the 2018 National League Most Valuable Player, confirmed that receiving online abuse has become "a nightly thing" for most players across the league. Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene completely deleted his Instagram account due to constant harassment from angry bettors, while Chicago White Sox outfielder Mike Tauchman noted that some teammates have endured racist and homophobic slurs both online and at ballparks. Major League Baseball and individual franchises have developed cybersecurity programs specifically designed to identify and remove threatening social media accounts, though Boston Red Sox spokesperson Abby Murphy acknowledged the difficulty in tracking anonymous online harassers. The league continues expanding security measures for player families both at home venues and during road trips. Also Read: Top 10 tallest players in MLB history: Where does Aaron Slegers rank? The McCullers incident serves as a stark reminder that professional athletes' families, including young children, should never become targets for fan frustration, regardless of on-field performance or betting outcomes.
