A man has been charged with murder after a woman's body was found in isolated bushland in Sydney's west at the weekend.

Police believe the woman's body had been in the scrub for 'a period of time', and was surrounded by clothes and other items.
'The area of the reserve in question is quite isolated, it appears the body has been there for a period of time,' Detective Superintendent Trent King said on Sunday.
Police established a crime scene alongside local detectives and commenced an investigation under Strike Force Dowerin.

Following inquiries, police arrested a 47-year-old man at a home on Powell St in Hobartville about 6pm on Monday.
He was taken to Windsor Police Station, where he was charged with murder.
The man was refused bail and is due to appear in Penrith Local Court on Tuesday.
A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.

'Introducing penalties for 'posting and boasting' sounds catchy and might work for political pointscoring in the short-term, but is not based in any evidence, 'she said. 'All the evidence shows that the earlier children have interaction with the criminal justice system, the more likely they are to be cycling in and out of it for years to come. That's a bad result for children, for taxpayers and for community safety. 'We've seen this 'tough on crime' approach repeatedly fail in Queensland and contribute to rapidly rising prison numbers in NSW. 'Rather than trying to outdo other jurisdictions with even harsher laws, Victoria needs to take a smarter approach that meaningfully invests in evidence-based responses to crime that genuinely disrupt its reoccurrence.'

‘Worst nightmare': 3yo's tragic drowning
The family of a three-year-old boy who died just weeks before his fourth birthday in an accidental drowning have shared their heartbreak at their loss. Dion Robbins tragically drowned at his home in an outer Darwin suburb on Saturday after falling into the pool while trying to collect his toys. Northern Territory police said they were called to the Palmerston home about 3.30pm after Dion was found unresponsive in his backyard. He was pulled from the water and received CPR before police and ambulance crews arrived shortly after. Emergency services continued CPR but Dion was pronounced dead at the scene. Describing the incident as a 'family's worst nightmare', Dion's aunt Sue Longstaff started a GoFundMe to help them lay their 'adventurous' little boy to rest. New details of triple shooting revealed
Detectives are investigating whether three burnt-out vehicles found in Sydney's western suburbs are linked to the shooting of three people outside a kebab shop in broad daylight, including an alleged underworld figure.
