Holidaymakers branded 'mad' as they race to secure sunbed at Spanish hotel
The hilarious scenes, captured by one tourist, shows Brits queueing and sprinting to get their towel on a lounger after queuing for an hour Holidays are supposed to be relaxing - but there's one thing that's sure to stress you out on your well-earned break. Sunbed wars are a very real part of the holiday experience for thousands of tourists as the battle for a lounger begins very early in the morning in some resorts. And British holidaymakers have been dubbed 'towel warriors' after a comical video was posted showing the race for a prime spot around the pool at one Mallorca hotel. The footage was captured by Aaron Turner, 34 while he was on holiday with his fiancée Shauna Wall, 32, and their four-year-old daughter Halle. Aaron filmed the scenes at the Hotel Sol Barbados, Magaluf which saw holidaymakers queueing up, poised to be ready to sprint to the sunbeds as soon as the pool areas was opened, reports the Mirror. And Aaron, a full time content creator from Country Meath, Ireland said, every morning, they were waiting for a full hour before the opening time in anticipation of securing the best spot for the day. The video, posted to Instagram, shows sun-seekers ready and waiting at three entrances to the hotel's pool, despite their appearing to be plenty of loungers laid out. He said: "The queues would get pretty long. Once the barriers opened, all the rules went - people were jumping the queue, and some were properly running," he said. And he also highlighted the surplus of sunbeds yet pointed out that everyone was after the most coveted spots. Finding amusement in the situation, Aaron added: "I thought it was hilarious, I've seen videos of it online before but it was the first time I experienced it myself. We got a good laugh out of it." Captioning his funny video 'Sunbed races should be an Olympic sport', it shows him pretending to stretch his legs as a warm up before getting ready to join the race. Aaron's followers were quick to comment on the ludicrousness of the situation. One said: "Or you can do what I do go have breakfast and nice relaxing morning then just walk in and throw the towels off the beds I want because you can't save sun loungers." Another laughed: 'Man, this is madness'. Sunbed wars are a long-standing, long-drawn-out battle that typically marks the start of the summer. Earlier this week, the Mirror reported how a group of irate holidaymakers thwarted a cunning plan by fellow Brits to bag sun beds seven hours before their hotel pool opened on a recent Spain holiday. While having a late-night chinwag on their balcony, Mandy Boyd spotted some lads she thought were having a cheeky swim in the pool. But upon closer inspection, the 34-year-old realised the young men were trying to nab the best beds at 2am, despite the fact that the pool wasn't due to open until 9am the next day. The quartet of girls watched as the lads dragged out their sun loungers to try and secure prime spots. Mandy and her mates patiently waited on the balcony for the perfect moment to dash down and swipe the towels. The comical sun bed wars sabotage took place around 2am at the Aquasol Aparthotel, Palmanova, near Magaluf, Spain. Joined by her mate, Sally Willows, the pair dashed down to the pool and swiftly grabbed the towels. "We're just doing the Lord's work," Mandy from Bridgend, South Wales, said. "I can't stand it when people reserve sunbeds and don't use them all day. "I find it really inconsiderate. It was shocking to see them reserving beds at 2am, especially when there was no chance of those lads being up to enjoy them. We kept the towels, but made sure we left them where they would find them."

Bombshell new Madeleine McCann theory: 6 claims about mystery Brit man and wife
A fresh search for missing Madeleine McCann ended this week with no new information seemingly found - however today a new bombshell theory about her disappearance emerged A new bombshell theory about the disappearance of Madeleine McCann has emerged. It comes following a fresh search for the toddler from Leicestershire, who shockingly vanished in 2007 while on holiday with her family in Praia da Luz, Portugal. This week German and Portuguese police descended on an area of southern Portugal close to Praia da Luz where Madeleine vanished. The last time authorities conducted a search related to Madeleine's disappearance around this area was in 2023. But after three days searching the area this week, detectives were pictured packing up their equipment following an operation thought to have cost around £300,000. READ MORE: Madeleine McCann UPDATES: Bombshell new theory over disappearance of toddler Today however, a shocking new theory about Madeleine's disappearance emerged. Portuguese daily Correio da Manha reported German prosecutors refused to probe a couple suspected of running over Madeleine McCann in a drink-drive accident. The newspaper said Portuguese authorities demanded an investigation into a British man and his German wife after his UK-based sister tipped off cops. Here are all the new claims... Alleged drink-drive incident German prosecutors reportedly refused to probe the couple suspected of running over Madeleine McCann in a drink-drive accident. German authorities are said to have rejected a Portuguese request to use an undercover police officer with a fake identity to try to befriend the female suspect and firm up their suspicions she was driving a car that hit Madeleine while under the influence of alcohol. Brit 'tipped off cops in 2018' The Portuguese newspaper reported that the sister of the unnamed British man at the centre of the new theory tipped off police in 2018. The report stated: 'German prosecutors were asked to authorise a covert police operation with someone posing as a friend of the woman's and trying to get her to confess, but the courts refused. 'It was decided to continue solely with the investigation into suspect Christian Brueckner, rejecting other possibilities.' 'Alcoholic' couple The report described the mystery couple as 'alcoholics' and placed the British man's wife in a café near the Ocean Club where she had supposedly been 'drinking' the night Madeleine went missing from the Algarve resort. Correio da Manha also reported another witness described as the couple's neighbour told police separately she heard them rowing the day after the three-year-old disappeared. She said she heard the man yelling: 'Why did you bring her?' Brit man dead Correio da Manha said the unnamed British man had now died. It did not say whether his German wife was still alive. In the front page report today, the newspaper claimed: "The German police refused to co-operate with Portugal's Policia Judiciaria in the investigation of a clue that pointed towards Madeleine McCann being run over. "In 2018 a British woman went to police in the UK to say she suspected her brother had been involved in the disappearance of the youngster. She said her brother was an alcoholic and since the day Madeleine vanished had appeared to hide a painful secret." Portuguese police 'thought driver might have panicked' Portuguese police thought the woman allegedly behind the wheel of the car driver might have "panicked" The newspaper report went on: "The neighbour discovered afterwards it was the man whose sister had reported him to police and was married to the woman who had been drinking in a cafe next to the Ocean Club where little Madeleine was staying with her parents and twin siblings. "Another report the police had indicated that in an identical car to the one the woman was then using, around the time of Madeleine's disappearance, a female and little girl had been seen inside. The PJ concluded she could have run Madeleine over and panicked." Brit 'refused to tell sister' The newspaper claimed the mystery British man had always 'refused to tell his sister if he had been involved in Madeleine's death' before she alerted authorities. Portuguese police are yet to respond to the Correio da Manha newspaper report.

Brit man at centre of new Madeleine McCann claim 'heard saying 5 chilling words'
Portuguese authorities are said to have received a chilling tip-off from a British woman who believed her own brother - and his German wife - may be hiding the truth behind Madeleine McCann's disappearance The British man at the centre of a new bombshell theory surrounding Madeleine McCann 's disappearance was reportedly overheard saying five chilling words. Today it was reported that German prosecutors refused to investigate a couple claimed to have hit Madeleine in a drink-driving accident. According to Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã, Portuguese authorities demanded action after receiving a chilling tip-off from a British woman who believed her own brother and his German wife may be hiding the truth about Madeleine's disappearance. The woman told police she feared her brother was covering up a secret. Investigators in Portugal asked German officials for permission to deploy an undercover officer with a fake identity to get close to the wife - suspected of being behind the wheel of the car that allegedly struck Madeleine. German authorities reportedly shut the request down. The newspaper said the British sister of the unnamed man at the centre of the new theory tipped off police in the UK in 2018. 'German prosecutors were asked to authorise a covert police operation with someone posing as a friend of the woman's and trying to get her to confess, but the courts refused,' it added. 'It was decided to continue solely with the investigation into suspect Christian Brueckner, rejecting other possibilities.' Describing the mystery couple as 'alcoholics' and placing the British man's wife in a café near the Ocean Club where she had been 'drinking' the night Madeleine went missing from the Algarve resort, Correio da Manha also reported another witness described as the couple's neighbour told police separately she heard the couple rowing the day after the three-year-old disappeared. She said she heard the man repeatedly yelling: 'Why did you bring her?' Portuguese police claim they were shut down by the Germans after urging them to look more closely into the possibility the woman had driven home 'drunk' with Madeleine after hitting her. Correio said the unnamed British man had now died, but did not say whether his German wife was still alive. In a front page report today, the newspaper claimed: 'The German police refused to co-operate with Portugal's Policia Judiciaria in the investigation of a clue that pointed towards Madeleine McCann being run over. 'In 2018 a British woman went to police in the UK to say she suspected her brother had been involved in the disappearance of the youngster. She said her brother was an alcoholic and since the day Madeleine vanished had appeared to hide a painful secret. 'When British police exchanged information with the PJ, a coincidence was discovered. On May 4 2007 a woman told police she had heard her neighbours arguing. They were both alcoholics, he was English and she was German, and she heard the man shouting repeatedly: 'Why did you bring her?' 'The neighbour discovered afterwards it was the man whose sister had reported him to police and was married to the woman who had been drinking in a café next to the Ocean Club where little Madeleine was staying with her parents and twin siblings. 'Another report the police had indicated that in an identical car to the one the woman was then using, around the time of Madeleine's disappearance, a female and little girl had been seen inside. The PJ concluded she could have run Madeleine over and panicked.' The newspaper also claimed the mystery British man had always 'refused to tell his sister if he had been involved in Madeleine's death' before she alerted the authorities. Portuguese police are yet to respond to the Correio da Manha newspaper report. German police yesterday wrapped up a three-day search on the ground near prime suspect Christian Brueckner's old cottage home close to Praia da Luz where Madeleine disappeared on May 3, 2007.
