Air India Express Flight Faces Hour-Long Delay At Hindon Airport's Runway After Technical Snag
Last Updated:
According to airport sources, the aircraft had taxied and was preparing for takeoff when the flight crew identified a last-minute technical issue.
An Air India Express flight from Hindon Airport in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad to Kolkata was delayed on Saturday after a technical snag was detected shortly before takeoff, officials said.
Flight IX 1511, which was scheduled to depart from Hindon Airport—a base primarily used for defence operations but recently opened for limited civilian flights—was grounded for over an hour after the aircraft developed a snag while on the runway.
According to airport sources, the aircraft had taxied and was preparing for takeoff when the flight crew identified a last-minute technical issue.
The exact nature of the fault was not immediately disclosed. Ground engineers were called in to assess the problem, resulting in a delay in departure.
Air India Express, a subsidiary of Air India, confirmed the delay in a brief statement and apologised for the disruption.
'Our Hindon-Kolkata flight operated, with a delay, due to a snag on the originally assigned aircraft. Guests were offered complimentary rescheduling or cancellation with a full refund. We regret the inconvenience," an Air India Express spokesperson said.
Passengers were allowed to reschedule or cancel their bookings with a full refund as the airline worked to resolve the issue. The flight eventually departed after engineers cleared the aircraft for safe operation, the officials added.

AI Exp's Dubai-Jaipur flight 5-hour ordeal without AC
Jaipur: Passengers on the Air India Express flight IX 196 from Dubai to Jaipur on June 13 were stuck for five hours without air conditioning, while the flight failed to take off due to technical errors. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The midnight ordeal faced by those on board was shared by social media influencer Arzoo Sethi, who was on the flight, and who said in a video she posted on social media platforms that her three-year-old son, like many others, was sweating profusely and feeling nauseous due to suffocation. Sethi alleged that if the flight was facing technical issues, the airline should have asked passengers to sit in the airport lobby. However, she said, this was not done. "We were seated in the flight at 7pm and were stranded inside for 5+ hours with no AC, no communication, and zero assistance from the crew. All our co-passengers were distressed, sweating in the heat, with no clarity on what was happening," said Sethi. She added that after the Ahmedabad flight crash, "this felt even more terrifying". "How can the same issues be repeated without accountability? This is a serious safety lapse. Please take responsibility for your passengers' well-being before it's too late," she added. The flight was scheduled to fly from Dubai to Jaipur on June 13 at 7:25pm, but due to a technical fault, it could only take off at 12:44am and reached Jaipur at 2:44am. Passengers said while they were suffocating inside the aircraft without air conditioning, many of them were not even provided with drinking water. When contacted, an Air India Express spokesperson told TOI, "We haven't received any update from the Dubai team regarding this issue yet. We are looking into the matter."

Air India flight returns to Delhi after captain suspects landing gear issue mid-air
NEW DELHI: Close on the heels of the mishap involving an Air India flight from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, a domestic flight of the airline carrying 168 passengers developed a technical issue immediately after take-off from Delhi to Vadodara on Sunday evening. It had to make an emergency landing at Delhi. As a matter of abundant caution, he decided to return back." The flight returned to IGI by 7:20 p.m. "Multiple safety checks were carried out as soon as it returned. Everything was found to be alright," the source added. Passengers were given the option of rescheduling their journey on other flights at no extra cost or cancelling their tickets. Grief grips Anand as bodies of three AI victims return home
Vadodara: As the bodies of the victims of the ill-fated Air India flight began arriving in Anand from Ahmedabad, a pall of gloom descended over the NRI-dominated towns and villages of central Gujarat on Sunday. At least 33 passengers from this region had boarded the doomed flight. In the quiet village of Ramnagar in Anand taluka, relatives and villagers gathered to mourn the loss of Mahendra Vaghela. He had boarded the flight on Thursday afternoon, filled with excitement for his first-ever trip to London, where he was eager to meet his newborn granddaughter. On Sunday, his family performed his final rites in the very village where he had shared his hopes. Similar scenes of sorrow unfolded in other parts of the district. In Piploi village of Khambhat and in Khambholaj, families prepared for the funerals of Mukund Patel, 65, and Akash Purohit, 25. Their mortal remains arrived from Ahmedabad in ambulances. Patel was headed to London to reunite with his wife, son, and daughter-in-law. He never made it. Purohit, meanwhile, had flown in to be with his ailing father, Nilesh Purohit, who was hospitalised.
