Yahoo13-02-2025

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Calling call DIY-ers! The third annual Beads and Brushes event is returning in March.
According to a press release, the event will be held Monday, March 3, from 6:00 until 8:30 p.m. at Andress Artist and Entrepreneur Center in Shreveport. This event is a do-it-yourself art project using beads caught at Mardi Gras parades.
Event organizers say guests can enjoy a fun night while upcycling beads to make a custom piece of art to take home.
'We are excited to bring back the Beads and Brushes event for a third year,' said Emerie Eck Holtzclaw, Executive Director of the Highland Area Partnership. 'We've had great groups participate over the last two years that made the most beautiful art from beads they caught at our local parades. It is a great way to commemorate specialty beads or just make something fun! We can't wait to see what everyone creates this year!'
Event goers can pick from a pre-painted or unpainted 8 x 8 canvas to create their art piece. Officials say that all supplies and materials including paint, brushes, glue guns, and more will be provided and on hand.
There will be light refreshments on site.
All proceeds from the evening benefit the Highland Jazz and Blues Festival.
Tickets are $45 and on sale through Monday, March 3rd. Tickets can be purchased here.
For more information, please contact Emerie Eck Holtzclaw at highlandjazzandblues@gmail.com.
