Jury resumes deliberations in Harvey Weinstein sex crimes retrial
The panel, which was handed the case on Thursday morning, has requested to hear a readback of some testimony from two of Weinstein's accusers, as well as to see medical records from one of those women. The jury of seven women and five men is considering two counts of criminal sex act and one count of rape against the 73-year-old Oscar-winning movie producer, with the criminal sex act charges the higher-degree felonies. Harvey Weinstein has denied all the charges against him (Jefferson Siegel /The New York Times via AP, Pool/PA) Weinstein has pleaded not guilty. Sexual misconduct allegations against Weinstein propelled the #MeToo movement in 2017. He was eventually convicted of sex crimes in New York and California, but the New York conviction was overturned last year, leading to the retrial before a new jury and a different judge. Jurors heard more than five weeks of evidence, including lengthy testimony from three accusers.

Chris Kamara struggles to use stairs due to health woes
Chris Kamara struggles to use stairs due to health woes The 67-year-old star suffers from dyspraxia, which affects balance and coordination, and has trouble speaking due to having speech apraxia Kamara has issued a new update on his health battle (Image: James Baylis - AMA/Getty Images ) Chris Kamara struggles to use stairs due to his health problems. The 67-year-old star suffers from dyspraxia, which affects balance and coordination, and has trouble speaking due to having speech apraxia - which he was diagnosed with in 2022 - and now the former Sky Sports pundit admits the two disorders have made him "really weak". Chris told the Daily Star newspaper: "The brain cells tell you you're going to fall even though you probably won't, so you have to hold on to the bannister and getting on planes and things like that." The Ninja Warrior UK host joked that people may be delayed getting off a plane if they are stuck behind him because Chris needs to climb down staircases slowly. He quipped: "Don't be in the queue behind me because I'll be five minutes getting down those plane steps." The former professional football player has become a much-loved figure on TV screens over the years, but he is pickier in what work he does because of his dyspraxia and speech apraxia. Article continues below Chris admitted: "I still don't want to put myself in a situation where it comes back to bite me. "So I'm not like the old Chris Kamara who would say yes to the opening of an envelope." The Soccer Saturday legend and his wife Anne have children Ben, 40, and Jack, 38, as well as four grandchildren - Solomon, seven, Connie, seven, Billie, five, and Morgan, three - and Chris recently admitted he apologised to his family for not talking about his speech apraxia as he felt "embarrassed" by it. The former Bradford City manager told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I was embarrassed by my apraxia. "But once I got over it, which I have now, I realise your voice doesn't define who you are. I'm sorry to anyone who has a speech condition that I felt that way for so long. "I have accepted the way I speak now. And that's because of the work on my mental health. "My therapist told me that the day you accept your condition is the day you will start getting better. "I can be my own worst critic, but my speech has improved, and I'm fine with how I sound." Admitting he kicks himself for not explaining the situation to Anne, Ben and Jack more, Kamara added: "They spotted the signs [that I was struggling]. I should have talked to my wife Anne, for which I have apologised to her. I didn't tell my wife what was going on. Article continues below "My family would have supported me. Anne and my sons would have helped me."

Dame Arlene Phillips gets mistaken for Shirley Ballas
Dame Arlene Phillips gets mistaken for Shirley Ballas The 82-year-old star was a member of the judging panel on Strictly Come Dancing between 2004 and 2008 Arlene Phillips (Image: Getty Images ) Dame Arlene Phillips says people regularly confuse her with Shirley Ballas. The 82-year-old star was a member of the judging panel on Strictly Come Dancing between 2004 and 2008 but revealed that she often gets mistaken for the current head judge on the BBC's Saturday night staple in public. Speaking to the i newspaper, Arlene said: "People come running up to me shouting, 'Shirley! Shirley!' and I have to say, 'No, I'm the other one!'" Phillips was controversially replaced on the Strictly judging panel by Alesha Dixon in 2009 – with the move sparking ageism allegations and drawing over 2,000 complaints from the public – but she largely ignored the furore. She explained: "I guess I... I didn't notice it that much at the time. I wrapped myself in my world and got on with life." Arlene added: "(People approach me) all the time to say, 'You should never have gone!'" Article continues below The star revealed that she continues to watch Strictly Come Dancing in "bits and pieces" as she remains good friends with her former judging colleague Craig Revel Horwood and choreographer Jason Gilkison. Arlene said: "(I watch Strictly) in bits and pieces on catch-up. It's rare I'd sit still on a Saturday night for a couple of hours but I'm also close to Jason Gilkison and I love watching the big dance number he's created." The choreographer, who was the oldest-ever contestant on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! when she took part in the 2021 series of the ITV reality show at the age of 78, is working on a gender-flipped take on William Shakespeare's play A Midsummer Night's Dream and has no plans to retire any time soon. She said: "Why would I, when there are so many interesting opportunities out there? New ideas keep you young." Meanwhile, Arlene previously hit out at the trend for politicians appearing on Strictly Come Dancing and I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! as she thinks it's wrong for them to "make fools of themselves" and play "silly little games" in front of the viewing public. She told the Daily Mirror newspaper's The Diary column last year: "I'm not big on politicians, even ex-politicians, going into the jungle or dancing on Strictly. Article continues below "I actually don't like them making fools of themselves. "We try to teach our children and grandchildren to respect people who are governing and running the country, not going on shows, doing silly little games."
