Kerala HC seeks report on 300 tribal families in Nilambur
Kochi: High court has sought instructions from the Malappuram district collector regarding the condition of approximately 300 tribal families residing in the Pothugal, Vazhikadavu and Karulai grama panchayats in Nilambur.
The collector has been directed to submit the details by next Friday.
The bench of Chief Justice Nitin Jamdar and Justice Basant Balaji issued the directive while hearing a petition filed by Aryadan Shouketh, former chairman of Nilambur municipality, and Sudha Vaniyampuzha. During the hearing on Friday, the petitioners submitted that the condition of the tribal communities was extremely grave. The court directed the state govt to obtain instructions from the collector and furnish the necessary details.
The petition, originally filed in Feb 2024, alleged that the tribal communities in the panchayats were living in deplorable conditions due to govt inaction. The petitioners highlighted that the families were residing in makeshift sheds covered with plastic sheets deep within the forest, facing constant threats to their safety. They also raised concerns over the lack of basic connectivity to the mainland, pointing out that the Iruttu Kuthi Concrete Bridge over the Chaliyar River and the Punjakolli Iron Bridge over the Punnapuzha River were destroyed during the floods of 2018 and 2019, leaving the region cut off from essential services and support.

Putin shocks Trump as Russia steps up military ties with India, this will greatly benefit New Delhi by..., even China...
New Delhi: Putin India Russia Relations: US President Donald Trump is angry at Russian President Vladimir Putin for dragging the Ukraine war and is speaking openly about it. At the same time, Russia is quietly making its new strategy in Asia, in which India is being given a special place. Its purpose is to counter the growing influence of Western countries. Trump angry with Putin The more Trump is getting angry with Putin, the more Russia is strengthening arms deals and relations with India. Russia wants to strengthen the old partnership (RIC) of India, Russia and China again, so that Western groups like Quad can be competed with. Trump's anger has increased further due to the delay in ceasefire by Vladimir Putin. According to a Times of India report, Kiev/Kyiv had accepted Trump's 30-day ceasefire proposal, but Russia refused and put forward conditions that would force Ukraine to give up even those areas that are not yet under Russian control. Trump then offered to host peace talks, but Moscow's demands, such as the US recognition of Crimea as Russian territory, came under criticism from experts. Russia India bonhomie This situation has forced Putin to strengthen ties with old allies to counter the growing influence of the USA. Russia is now trying to bring India closer to itself. It is making arms deals and trying to restart trilateral meetings (Russia-India and China) to balance the influence of Western countries. India's stand India's situation is also a little difficult. For many years, India has been buying most weapons from Russia. Russia has often given India such new weapons which it has not even used itself, but the Russia-India-China (RIC) partnership is not easy for India. China is a close friend of Pakistan and helps militarily. India feels that as long as China continues to support Pakistan, such a partnership will not work properly.

China optimistic on diplomatic relations with India Ambassador
Beijings envoy has expressed confidence in revitalizing bilateral ties with New Delhi Chinese Ambassador to India, Xu Feihong has expressed optimism for strong diplomatic relations between the two nations. Speaking to reporters on Sunday in the eastern Indian city of Kolkata, Xu noted that the millennia of shared history between the two nations brings them beyond simple neighbourly relations. "China and India have been civilisations for so long. We have such close cultural and historical interactions. So, why shouldn't we have good relations in the coming years," Xu said. Though tensions and mistrust remain, he emphasized that genuine progress necessitates more than high-level diplomacy. "It's not only up to the governments," he was quoted by the Times of India as saying. Ambassador Xu's statements come against the backdrop of Beijing's recent overtures to New Delhi, to open up economic and people-to-people relations. The Asian giants have made efforts to reset ties Oover the last year, after the 2020 Galwan Valley clash along their disputed Himalayan border, in which soldiers from both sides were killed. After extended military and diplomatic discussions, New Delhi and Beijing announced in October last year that they had reached an agreement on disengagement from areas of tension and would work towards normalizing their relations. Theannouncementwas made on the eve of the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia, where Chinese President Xi Jingping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a comprehensive bilateral meeting, marking their first such engagement in almost five years. In Kolkata on Sunday, Xu emphasized the importance of various groups, including think-tanks, universities, and students, as well as ordinary citizens from both sides, in fostering a positive relationship. He also highlighted the crucial understanding between Xi and Modi, which focuses on strengthening ties and keeping lines of communication open. In April, Xi pointed out that China and India are both ancient civilizations, major developing countries, and key members of the Global South, with both currently at a crucial stage in their modernization efforts. As a step towards the normalization of relations, Indian pilgrims will be allowed to visit a pilgrimage sites of religious significance to Hindus, Jains and Buddhists at Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar in Tibet, after a gap of five years. Beijing has also called on New Delhi to restart direct flights between mainland India and China, as well as to ease visa procedures for Chinese nationals. (
