14-year-old killed, 16-year-old injured after hit-and-run crash in Garland, police say
A 30-year-old man was arrested following a hit-and-run crash that killed one teen and seriously injured another, the Garland Police Department said Sunday.
Police said Stetson Ybarbo, of Rowlett, was speeding eastbound on East Oates Road when his pickup truck left the roadway and struck a 14-year-old girl and 16-year-old boy, along with several parked cars near the intersection of Miami Drive.
Police said witnesses reported seeing Ybarbo flee the scene with a child after the crash, without helping either victim.
When officers arrived at the crash site, they found a 2005 brown Chevy Silverado with extensive damage. And based on evidence and witness statements, officers located Ybarbo at a home in Garland, where he was taken into custody.
Ybarbo was transported to the Garland Jail on charges of fail to stop and render aid – involving death and fail to stop and render aid – involving serious bodily injury, police said.
The investigation is ongoing. Police said the name and photos of the victims will not be released due to their ages.

(DC News Now) – Tuesday, in Prince George's County, opening arguments began in the trial of Harold Landon III, a Maryland man accused of murdering and dismembering second-grade teacher Mariame Torre Sylla in 2023. Sylla went for an evening walk in a park near her apartment before disappearing in late July. Searches went on for the teacher until her body was later found dismembered near a pond in Clinton. Prince George's County Police worked with Greenbelt Police to discover a torso at a pond in Clinton. A test later found that the torso was Sylla's. In the opening statements, State's Attorney Aisha Braveboy described Sylla as a loving teacher and mother. Prosecutors brought in witness testimony and pictures of the scene, including photos of the dismemberment. State prosecutors also say they have video and DNA evidence linking Landon and Sylla, but Landon's defense says the state won't provide a motive. Sylla taught at Dora Kennedy French Immersion School, a community that is hoping for justice for their beloved teacher. 'Terrible,' said parent Noura Estatie. 'Teachers, they take care of our kids…I hope you know, her family gets [the] justice that they seek.' The trial is expected to go into next week. North Carolina trio steals $32K worth of lawnmowers from Eureka Dicky Bubb
ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — Two men and a woman from North Carolina have been charged for allegedly stealing six lawnmowers from a Dicky Bubb Farm and Home in Eureka, Missouri. According to court documents, Devon Reid, 27; Roberts Knotts, 36; and Angel Williams, 29, stole $34,244 worth of lawnmowers from Dicky Bubb, located at 100 Hilltop Village Center, on April 11. The store manager told police the zero turn riding lawnmowers had been stolen in the early hours of the morning after watching surveillance video of Reid and Knotts allegedly cutting the lawnmowers loose and taking them between 2:40 and 3:30 a.m. 8-year-old injured in Baden shooting; 1 man dead Court documents said they were accompanied by Williams earlier in the day around 5 p.m. at the same store to purchase multiple chainsaws and one zero-turn lawn mower. Surveillance video showed the three suspects verbally giving the clerk multiple credit card numbers to purchase the items; some of the cards were declined. The Eureka Police Department reports two credit cards were fraudulently used to purchase the items, totaling nearly $8,000. After the transaction, the three suspects were seen leaving the store in a Chevy Silverado pickup truck, which was the same vehicle used in the early hours of April 11 to steal the additional lawnmowers. A large U-Haul was also seen attached to the Chevy truck, which police said was rented in Fenton, Missouri. Police reviewed surveillance video from the U-Haul that confirmed it was Reid and Knotts seen at Dicky Bubb's the next morning. The Chevy and U-Haul were later tracked arriving in Gastonia, North Carolina, a few days later. The Gastonia Police Department contacted Williams at her home, where the same U-Haul trailer was found. Police contacted a victim who purchased one of the stolen lawnmowers and said the transaction took place at William's home. Reid, Knotts, and Williams have all been charged with one count of stealing $25,000 or more and two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card. All three suspects are still at large. Owner of Billy's C's raw honey in Southwick died in Ohio crash
SOUTHWICK, Mass. (WWLP) – A beekeeper from Southwick was struck and killed by a vehicle while operating farm equipment in Ohio on Wednesday. In a police report 22News obtained from the Oregon Police Department in Ohio, at around 1:26 a.m. on Wednesday, officers were called to Brown Road for a report of a vehicle crash. The report says that a Chevy Silverado was traveling eastbound when it struck a fork-style farm vehicle traveling in the same direction from behind. He was taken to the St. Vincent Hospital for serious injuries, where he later died. He was identified as 35-year-old William (Billy) Crawford of Southwick, Massachusetts. Crawford is the owner of New England Apiaries on Klaus Anderson Road in Southwick and is known for Billy's C's raw honey. Bill graduated from the Hampden County Beekeepers Association Bee School and started his first beehive. In 2007, he started selling honey from a produce farm he worked at in Westfield before forming Pioneer Valley Apiary in what became New England Apiaries. The posted speed on Brown Road is 50 MPH. The report did not indicate any citations were given to the 20-year-old driver of the Silverado at this time.
