Scotland must 'come together' after Germany defeats
Rachel McLauchlan says Scotland will bounce back after two heavy defeats to Germany in the Nations League. Following a 4-0 defeat at Tannadice on Friday night, Scotland were 1-0 up at half-time in Germany on Tuesday. But the Scots crumbled in the second half and went on to lose 6-1 to the third-ranked international side. "It's obviously a tough one to take," the wingback said. "Positives there for the first half; that's how we expect to play."[Then there's] 20 minutes in the second half that we just can't ever let happen. We can't let that happen in the future, we have to go and work on that."We're lucky in the fact we're a very tight squad, we'll come together and help each other and come back in positive ways I'm sure."

Spain v France: Nations League semi-final
Update: Date: 2025-06-05T17:26:37.000Z Title: Preamble Content: Hello and welcome to live coverage of the Ballon d'Or decider between Lamine Yamal and Ousmane Dembele in Stuttgart. That, at least, is how some people are pitching this Nations League semi-final between Spain and France. It's a reminder that – despite the best efforts of Paris Saint-Germain and indeed Spain at Euro 2024 -the cult of the individual has never been stronger in football. That cult began, or at least gathered pace, with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo lording over the sport for the best part of 15 years. Both are still going strongish, and Ronaldo pilfered the headlines with the winner against Germany in last night's first semi-final. Portugal's win means that, whatever happens tonight, Sunday's final will involve a previous champion. Portugal won the inaugural tournament in 2019, France beat Spain the final in 2021 and Spain overcame Croatia in 2023. That turned into a useful stepping stone ahead of Euro 2024, a tournament Spain won so magnificently. They beat four former world champions en route, including France in a pulsating semi-final. We could have another thriller tonight. May the best team – italics, bold – win. Kick off 8pm.

Friendlies can help Republic of Ireland prepare for World Cup campaign
The Icelander, who is eight games into the role and to date has enjoyed modest success, took up the reins targeting qualification for next summer's finals, and now has just two matches left in which to finalise his plans. Here, the PA news agency takes a look at some of the talking points surrounding the first of them. FT | League B status retained! — Ireland Football ⚽️🇮🇪 (@IrelandFootball) March 23, 2025 Ireland may have slipped to 60th place in FIFA's world rankings, but they will head into the Senegal game with four wins in eight outings under their new head coach. While home and away defeats to England and Greece may not have come as a surprise, home and away wins over Finland and Bulgaria brought a more positive conclusion to the Nations League campaign, and Hallgrimsson's team will run out at the Aviva Stadium with three victories in their last four matches. Our 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixture schedule has been revealed 🇮🇪🤩 We'll begin our campaign at home to Hungary next September 💪 Secure your seat for an exciting 2025 season now 🎟️👉 — Ireland Football ⚽️🇮🇪 (@IrelandFootball) December 13, 2024 Every step the Icelander has taken so far has been geared towards preparing his team for World Cup qualification. That process begins in September when Ireland face Hungary and Armenia away in fixtures which could go a long way towards determining how they fare in a four-team group which also includes Portugal. The friendlies against Senegal and Luxembourg – in which most of Hallgrimsson's Sky Bet Championship players will not be involved – provide a final chance to nail down a plan. Successive Ireland managers have bemoaned a lack of players playing regularly in Premier League teams, and one has taken decisive action during the current window. Goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, who has established himself as Hallgrimsson's number one, was allowed to leave the camp to tie up an £18million switch from Liverpool to Brentford which he will hope gives him the football he craves and in turn, secure his place in the national team. Evan Ferguson, Troy Parrott and Adam Idah find themselves battling for a place in Ireland's starting line-up with their new boss still working to find the right balance in attack. AZ Alkmaar's Parrott has been the man in form and Celtic frontman Idah ended an at times difficult season with 20 goals and two trophies, while Ferguson, who spent the second half of the campaign on loan at West Ham from Brighton, barely kicked a ball in anger. Senegal are ranked 19th in the world for a reason, and a glance at the list of players available to head coach Pape Thiaw illustrates why they are so highly-regarded. Among his big names are Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye, Villarreal's Pape Gueye, Pape Matar Sarr of Tottenham, Crystal Palace striker Ismaila Sarr and Chelsea counterpart Nicolas Jackson.

Spain vs France TV channel and live stream: How to watch Nations League clash
Spain and France will lock horns tonight as both sides look to claim a place in the Nations League final. The reigning European Champions Spain are also the current holders of the Nations League, but face a tough task against France who won this competition back in 2021. Didier Deschamps' side is littered with youthful talent, with many, such as Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue, turning up for international duty just a matter of days after their Champions League triumph with Paris Saint-Germain. Both sides needed the help of penalties to come through their Nations League quarter-final clashes, with Spain overcoming the Netherlands and France edging past Croatia. The winner on Thursday will take on Portgual in the final after they won 2-1 against Germany on away soil. Ahead of kick-off in the Nations League semi-final, here's everything you need to know, including the team news, match odds and how to watch the game on TV and live stream in the UK. The Nations League semi-final kicks off at 8pm at the MHPArena in Stuttgart, with coverage starting at 7.45pm. Fans can watch Spain vs France live on Amazon Prime, with coverage of the game also available on pay-per-view for £2.49. Dean Huijsen could make a start for Spain after completing his move from Bournemouth to Real Madrid. However, the semi-final comes too soon for Rodri who made his return from a lengthy ACL layoff at the end of the Premier League season. Elsewhere in midfield, Isco could be in line for a start after his impressive form for Real Betis in what would mark his first international appearance since 2019. France, meanwhile, will have to manage the fitness of several PSG stars following their Champions League triumph last weekend. Deschamps will also have to rotate his back line, with Dayot Upamecano, William Saliba and Jules Kounde all absent through injury. Spain: 5/4 Draw: 15/8 France: 17/10 Spain to progress; 8/11 More Trending France to progress: 11/10 Odds via Betfair (subject to change) The winner of tonight's semi-final will face Portgual in Sunday's final.
