Raw meat-eating fitness star arrested after bizarre challenge to Joe Rogan
A fitness influencer who rose to fame for his bizarre eating habits was arrested Tuesday after allegedly posting threatening messages aimed at podcaster Joe Rogan in a multi-video Instagram rant, according to authorities.
Brian Johnson, a popular social media fitness influencer known as "Liver King," was taken into custody by the Austin Police Department in a dramatic caught-on-camera arrest posted to his own Instagram page, police said.
Detectives were notified of a series of alleged online threats made by Johnson against Rogan, and subsequently learned Johnson was traveling to Rogan's hometown of Austin while continuing to make the alleged threatening statements, according to authorities.
In one of the videos, a shirtless Johnson can be seen holding what appears to be two golden firearms while seemingly challenging Rogan to a fight.
"Joe Rogan, I'm calling you out," Johnson said in an Instagram video posted on June 23. "My name's Liver King. Man to man, I'm picking a fight with you. I have zero training in jiu-jitsu. You're a black belt, you should dismantle me. But I'm picking a fight with you. Your rules."
Johnson's rant continues, with him addressing Rogan, saying, "You can't pick a fight with a real king. And then expect there not to be an actual fight, bro."
Upon contacting Rogan, detectives learned the men had no previous interactions, with Rogan telling authorities he "considered the posts to be threatening," APD said.
Later that day, authorities obtained an arrest warrant for Johnson, who was taken into custody at a nearby Four Seasons Hotel without incident.
A video of Johnson being handcuffed while in the back of a police vehicle was posted to his Instagram account on Tuesday night.
Johnson, who boasts a whopping 2.9 million followers on Instagram, frequently posts about his self-described "ancestral lifestyle" and fitness routines, often sharing videos dedicated to his diet consisting primarily of raw meat.
Rogan previously discussed Johnson's alleged use of steroids on a 2023 episode of his podcast, with Johnson initially denying the claims before issuing an apology to his viewers.
Johnson was charged with allegedly making a terroristic threat and transported to the Travis County Jail, according to APD.
Representatives for both Rogan and Johnson did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's requests for comment.

Armed suspect fatally shot during robbery at South Gate dispensary: LASD
An armed suspect was fatally shot by an employee while attempting to rob a dispensary in Los Angeles County Tuesday night, authorities said. Officers received a 911 call shortly after 11 p.m. reporting that a robbery had just occurred at Savage Mobile on the 5800 block of Imperial Highway in South Gate. Police officers arriving at the scene learned that a robbery suspect had been shot and was still inside the business, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirmed to KTLA. The alleged robber was found suffering from gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect had been shot following some type of struggle with an employee, who was also armed. The spokesperson said that the employee was cooperating with the investigation. Although the shop is named Savage Mobile, the spokesperson said the business is a marijuana dispensary, not a mobile store. Another Southern California city increases penalties for illegal fireworks
The Fullerton City Council has adopted an urgency ordinance that will strengthen the city's regulations on illegal fireworks. In a press release issued Wednesday, city officials said the ordinance passed unanimously with one councilmember absent. The new legislation, which goes into effect immediately, significantly raises fines and enforces a zero-tolerance policy for the use and possession of illegal fireworks. Penalties included in the updated ordinance include: $3,000 fine for first offense $5,000 fine for second offense $7,000 fine for third offense Additionally, the ordinance also includes clauses for parental liability and private property owner responsibility. 'Parents or guardians of minors who use illegal fireworks will be cited,' officials said. 'Property owners who permit or fail to prevent the use or sale of dangerous fireworks on or adjacent to their property will be held accountable.' On top of that, increased patrols will be conducted throughout the city and authorities will be targeting their response to resident-submitted complaints and tips. 'The city council stands united in protecting the safety, peace and well-being of our residents,' said Fullerton Mayor Fred Jung. 'Illegal fireworks have no place in our community.' The only time city residents are permitted to use fireworks is on and only on July 4 between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m., as long as they are designated as 'safe and sane' and are kept on private property.
