TARGET TOURE Europa League winner 'could join Rangers' as huge summer rebuild at Ibrox is set to begin under new American owners
RANGERS are being linked with a move for former Kaiserslautern defender Almamy Toure.
The 29-year-old, who helped German Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt defeat the Ibrox club in the Europa League final in 2022, has parted ways with Kaiserslautern after his contract expired.

Toure only played eight times last season for the second division side after struggling with injury problems.
On his Instagram, he posted: "It's been a great journey and I've appreciated both the ups and downs - thank you for your support and kindness throughout these two seasons together.
"I wish the club all the best for the future.
"Now it's time for some holidays and hard work before the next adventure."

Toure came through the ranks at Monaco along with Kylian Mbappe and Bernardo Silva and made over 80 appearances for the Ligue 1 club before joining Frankfurt in 2019.
According to Africafoot, the full-back, who can also play in central defence, is a target for the Ibrox side, and it is believed he would be a replacement for Leon Balogun.
The report says Rangers would have competition for the Mali international's services, with Serie A side Genoa, Turkish outfit Trabzonspor and MLS' Philadelphia Union being credited with an interest.
Balogun was one of a number of players to leave Ibrox after the end of a disappointing season along with Ianis Hagi and Tom Lawrence, while loanee Vaclav Cerny returned to Wolfsburg and could be on his way to Turkey according to reports there.

If Toure was to become a Rangers player, he would be the first under the new American owners Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises.
The US consortium completed the long-awaited takeover of the club, and have made £20 million available for the new manager to come in and begin a rebuild of his squad in the summer.
What next for Rangers after American takeover is confirmed?
It is still to be determined who that will be, but it seems to be a straight shoot-out between former Real Madrid assistant Davide Ancelotti and ex-Southampton boss Russell Martin.
Rangers will hope to name Philippe Clement's successor in the next few days, with new sporting director Kevin Thelwell starting on Monday.

Son Heung-Min pens emotional farewell to Ange Postecoglou
The Australian was relieved of his duties on Friday afternoon, just over a fortnight after he led Spurs to Europa League glory against Manchester United in Bilbao. The club's captain, Son, has since reacted to the departure of Postecoglou. Read more: He took to Instagram after the news emerged: "You've changed the trajectory of this club," said the skipper. "You believed in yourself, and us, since day one and never wavered for a second. Even when others did. "You knew what we were capable of all along. You did it your way. And your way brought this club the best night it's had in decades. We will have those memories for life. "You trusted me with the captaincy. One of the highest honours of my career. It's been an incredible privilege to learn from your leadership up close, I am a better player and a better person because of you. "Ange Postecoglou, you are a Tottenham Hotspur legend forever. Thank you, mate." Postecoglou himself sent a parting message to Spurs after his exit. He said: "When I reflect on my time as Manager of Tottenham Hotspur, my overriding emotion is one of pride. "The opportunity to lead one of England's historic football clubs and bring back the glory it deserves will live with me for a lifetime. Sharing that experience with all those who truly love this club and seeing the impact it had on them is something I will never forget. "That night in Bilbao was the culmination of two years of hard work, dedication and unwavering belief in a dream. There were many challenges to overcome and plenty of noise that comes with trying to accomplish what many said was not possible. "We have also laid foundations that mean this club should not have to wait 17 more years for their next success. I have enormous faith in this group of players and know there is much more potential and growth in them. "I sincerely want to thank those who are the lifeblood of the club, the supporters. I know there were some difficult times, but I always felt that they wanted me to succeed, and that gave me all the motivation I needed to push on. It's important to acknowledge the hard-working people at Spurs who gave me encouragement on a daily basis. "And finally, I want to thank those who were with me every day for the last two years. A fantastic group of young men who are now legends of this football club, and the brilliant coaches who never once doubted we could do something special. "We are forever connected. Audere est Facere."

Celtic 'initiate contact' to sign Turkish midfielder
The 20-year-old is currently on the books at Turkish giants Besiktas. He spent last season on loan at Portuguese top-flight outfit Rio Ave, scoring four goals and assisting two across 33 appearances. Read more: Standing at an imposing 6"4, Tiknaz is currently away on international duty with his country, Turkey, for whom he has yet to register a senior cap. Celtic have initiated contact with Rio Ave to figure out how they can move forward with a concrete proposal to sign Tiknaz, claims ABOLA. Indeed, the Portuguese side are set to take up their €5 million option to buy the player from Besiktas, before potentially selling him on. They are said to want offers to be 'based on' €10 million. In the engine room, Brendan Rodgers has the likes of Callum McGregor, Arne Engels, Paulo Bernardo, Reo Hatate and Luke McCowan all available to him. Regardless, the Celtic manager, towards the end of last season, outlined his desire to strengthen his side with at least two or three first-team signings this summer. In terms of departures, Pogon Szczecin of Poland's top flight are reportedly interested in bringing in Maik Nawrocki on loan. The central defender has played just 18 times across his two years at Celtic. Nawrocki scored his first goal in green and white in a 5-1 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie just before the end of last campaign.
