At least one dead and several injured after a private jet crashed into another upon arrival in Arizona

At least one person is dead and several injured after a small business jet crashed into a parked plane as it arrived at Scottsdale Airport in Arizona, just east of Phoenix, on Monday afternoon.
The arriving plane is owned by Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil, according to a representative for the singer. Neil was not onboard, the representative, Worrick Robinson, said in a statement to CNN.
One person died in the crash and three were hurt, according to city spokesperson Kelli Kuester. Officials earlier said four were hurt. The three who were injured were taken to hospitals, Kuester said.
Responders are still working to remove the body of the deceased victim, Scottsdale Fire Department Capt. David Folio said. Police have not released names of those onboard.
Two pilots and two passengers were on board Neil's plane, according to Robinson.
The Learjet 35A aircraft was arriving from Austin, Texas, when it veered off the runway and crashed into a parked Gulfstream G200 jet, Kuester said at a Monday news conference.
'It appears that the left main gear failed upon landing resulting in the accident,' she said.
The National Transportation Safety Board is at the scene and leading the investigation into the incident, according to Kuester. In response to a CNN inquiry, the NTSB said only that it is investigating.
The crash follows several aviation disasters in recent weeks, including a fatal midair collision near Washington, DC, that killed all 67 people onboard both aircraft and the crash of a medevac jet in Philadelphia that killed seven.
The FAA has paused flights into the airport, the agency said.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass blames riots on ICE agents upholding law

Lefty LA Mayor Karen Bass on Monday blamed the riots ripping apart her city on ICE agents trying to uphold the law. Bass added that while Los Angeles is 'peaceful now,' the city could quickly devolve into further chaos if the federal immigration raids — which have netted convicted violent criminals — continue. 'I just have to say that, if you dial back time and go to Friday, if immigration raids had not happened here, we would not have the disorder that went on last night,' Bass told CNN's 'The Situation Room.' 4 Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass on Monday blames ICE agents for starting the riots disrupting her city. AFP via Getty Images 'It is peaceful now, but we do not know where and when the next raids will be. That is the concern, because people in the city have a rapid-response network. If they see ICE, they go out, and they protest,' she said of the demonstrators, including vandals who lit cars on fire and looted stores as they paralyzed parts of the city with their crimes. 'What was the reason that the president had to take the power from the governor and federalize the National Guard?' the miffed mayor said. 'The night before this action was taken, there was a protest that got a little unruly late at night. It was 100 people, 27 people were arrested. There wasn't a reason for this.' Starting Friday, demonstrations popped up in the Los Angeles area against the Trump administration's immigration enforcement after by a raid on a Home Depot in Paramount. By Saturday, some of the protests had devolved into violent clashes with federal authorities in Compton and Paramount. Trump promptly did what local and state officials failed to do, calling in 2,000 members of the Los Angeles National Guard to contain the violence. Rioters had been hurling rocks and getting violent with federal authorities at the time. Federal immigration officials are expected to continue to carry out intense enforcement operations over the next 30 days or so, said Rep. Nanette Barragán (D-Calif.) on Sunday citing what she had been told. 4 President Trump said he the National Guard to contain the mayhem in Los Angeles because local and state officials failed to act. 'It's just a recipe for pandemonium that is completely unnecessary,' Bass insisted. 'Nothing was happening here. Los Angeles was peaceful before Friday.' California Democrats such as Bass and Gov. Gavin Newsom have raged against Trump for bringing in the National Guard, a move that hasn't been done in Los Angeles since the 1992 Rodney King riots. Federalization of the National Guard also hasn't been done in a state without its governor's blessing since 1965, when President Lyndon B. Johnson did so to safeguard civil-rights protesters in Alabama. 'We made a great decision in sending the National Guard to deal with the violent, instigated riots in California,' Trump said on Truth Social on Monday. If we had not done so, Los Angeles would have been completely obliterated. 'The very incompetent 'Governor,' Gavin Newscum, and 'Mayor,' Karen Bass, should be saying, 'THANK YOU, PRESIDENT TRUMP, YOU ARE SO WONDERFUL. WE WOULD BE NOTHING WITHOUT YOU, SIR,' Trump said. He warned protesters not to think about even spitting at law enforcement. 'If they spit, we will hit,' he said. Trump even claimed he would arrest Newsom if necessary as tensions with the Golden State governor fray dramatically. Newsom has vowed to sue Trump over the federalization of the National Guard. 'I think the issue here is state power and state sovereignty,' Bass said. The mayor claimed that she is 'not concerned about being arrested,' noting that she can't imagine a situation where she'd be undermining federal law enforcement. The Los Angeles mayor also underscored that 'this is not citywide civil unrest taking place' and that it's merely been 'a few streets downtown.' Still, she acknowledged, 'I will tell you that I'm saddened by the extent of the vandalism in the form of graffiti all through the downtown area.' Bass' move to fault the Trump administration for the riots by blaming its ICE raids quickly drew backlash from conservatives. 'People who were already violating the law are only violating the law because President Trump started enforcing the law. This is the logic of Newsom and his stooges,' Vice President JD Vance swiped on X. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said, 'Newsflash, Karen: There are immigration raids happening because Joe Biden allowed illegal alien criminals into Los Angeles, and you have dangerous sanctuary city policies that protect them. 'Since you and Governor Newsom refuse to maintain law and order — President Trump will.' Conservative pundit Guy Benson also jabbed on X, 'It's peaceful right now, but who knows what these rioters will do if federal authorities continue to do their duty' is pro-mob violence extortion.'

An Israeli soldier was taken hostage on October 7. In ceasefire plea, his mother releases video of his brutal capture

The family of an Israeli soldier held hostage by Hamas has released new footage of the moment he was pulled from his tank and captured by Palestinian militants during the October 7 attacks. The video shows the soldier, Matan Angrest, surrounded by a dozen men atop the turret of an Israeli tank. The men, whose faces are blurred in the video, then lower Angrest, head first, off the tank into the arms of Palestinian militants, who barely catch him. It is unclear whether Angrest is conscious in the video. His body is limp and tumbles forward as he is tossed off the side of the tank. One man can be seen kicking Angrest before he is thrown off the tank. Another man below appears to slap Angrest as he falls to the floor. In an interview, Angrest's mother said she decided to publish the video because she fears that her son has been 'left behind' and wants the public to know that he is in a critical situation. 'I don't feel the commitment of the government for Matan as an Israeli soldier like I felt the commitment of Trump to American citizens – a big gap,' Anat Angrest said. 'If the government wants soldiers to still serve her, she has to worry about the soldiers and to bring them home like the other citizens.' While her husband saw the video months ago, she only watched it for the first time on Sunday night. 'For me as a mother, it's the hardest thing to watch – to know about my son. Every mother knows that her kid from the first cry of a baby, we are worried about our children,' Anat Angrest said. 'It's the hardest situation for me as a mother.' This is the latest attempt by Angrest's family to sound the alarm about his deteriorating medical condition in captivity. They say he is suffering from chronic asthma, has untreated burns and has suffered infections during his captivity, according to the testimony of hostages who were held with Angrest. Keith Siegel, the American-Israeli hostage who was released in February, told CNN last month that he was extremely concerned for Angrest's physical and mental wellbeing. The two were held together for more than two months. The video released Monday appears to have been recovered by the Israeli military from the belongings of Palestinian militants, according to the watermark on the video. Angrest said her family did not release the video for months at the urging of the Israeli military, but said she now feels she has no choice as the Israeli government pushes for yet another partial deal that would see about half the remaining hostages released. 'We were quiet about it for a year and a half, but we understood that our quiet is very comfortable to leave Matan behind,' she said. Angrest is one of 55 hostages still held by Hamas and one of 20 still believed to be alive, according to the Israeli government. As a male Israeli soldier, Angrest is believed to be at the bottom of the list of hostages to be released – considered a high-value hostage by Hamas and one for whom the Israeli government will likely have to pay a steep price. Anat Angrest believes her son's concerning medical condition should be taken into account and, like many of the hostage families, called for the release of all the hostages and an end of the war. Ceasefire and hostage deal negotiations between Israel and Hamas have sputtered along in recent weeks, yielding no agreement. A framework proposed by the US would see about half the living and deceased hostages released in exchange for a 60-day temporary ceasefire. Hamas has insisted on stronger guarantees from the US that negotiations to end the war will continue – and the fighting will not resume – after that temporary ceasefire expires. This is a developing story and will be updated.

What the Hell Was Dr. Phil Doing at the ICE Raids in Los Angeles?

Donald Trump's ally Dr. Phil McGraw is back to making anti-immigrant propaganda for Donald Trump's administration. The conservative television personality commonly known as 'Dr. Phil' was embedded among Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers with a camera crew during the raids in Los Angeles last week that sparked multiple days of protests, CNN reported Monday. A spokesperson for Dr. Phil's right-wing channel, Merit TV, confirmed to CNN that the footage from the raid will be used as part of a special report on Dr. Phil Primetime to provide viewers with a 'firsthand look at the targeted operations' of Trump's immigration crackdown. The report will also include an interview with Donald Trump's border czar Tom Homan, who has ramped up his rhetoric during the administration's escalating immigration efforts in California—even threatening to have California Governor Gavin Newsom arrested. In an interview Monday, Homan readily admitted that the raids are rounding up individuals with no criminal record. Dr. Phil's action-packed programming will undoubtedly be used to support administration officials' outlandish claims that the protests are a form of 'invasion' or 'insurrection,' allowing them to continually escalate their law enforcement actions. Trump has already bypassed Newsom's authority to call in the National Guard, and law enforcement has deployed flash grenades, tear gas, and rubber bullets against protesters and journalists alike. In January, Dr. Phil accompanied ICE agents on raids around Chicago, an early action of the Trump administration's crackdown on undocumented immigrants. The longtime Trump ally has proven to be an outspoken advocate for the president's immigration agenda.
