E-scooter rider in drink drive arrest after crash with taxi in Nottingham
An e-scooter rider has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving following a collision with a taxi. A 19-year-old rider was involved in the crash in Ilkeston Road, Radford, Nottingham, at around 03:00 BST on Thursday.Nottinghamshire Police said the scooter was hired through the council transport scheme and was therefore allowed on the road, but e-scooter riders "must adhere to the same rules as any other driver".Ch Insp Paul Hennessy, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "In the same way as driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol is illegal, riding an e-scooter whilst over the limit is also a criminal offence and will be punished accordingly."
"So rather than thinking of their rented e-scooter as a novelty to be taken lightly, I encourage users to think of them instead in the same way they would think of a car or a motorcycle," he added."Because if we catch them drinking and driving, they will be treated in exactly the same way as other road users – with all the legal, personal and professional consequences that go with that."Thankfully no one was injured as a result of this incident, which I hope will serve as a warning to others."

Ducati motorbiker arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving after collision left e-scooter rider dead
A Ducati motorbiker has been arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving after a crash with an e-scooter rider, which left her dead. A woman in her 30s was killed in the collision in Corby, Northants on Saturday afternoon after her scooter was hit by the powerful grey vehicle. Emergency services arrived on the scene shortly after the incident at around 4.45pm and arrested a man in his 50s when they got there. A pathologist is to carry out a post mortem examination on the woman's body and an inquest will be opened and adjourned at a later date. A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: 'The incident happened in Jubilee Avenue at about 4.45pm. 'Sadly, the rider of the e-scooter, a woman in her 30s, died at the scene. 'The rider of the Ducati, a man aged in his 50s, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been released on bail pending further inquiries. 'Officers would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have CCTV or dash cam footage of the collision.'

Driver released after two pedestrians die in Caversham crash
A driver who was arrested after the death of two pedestrians in a crash has been released while police continue their pedestrians, two women aged 68 and 72, were hit by a blue Volkswagen Tiguan on Peppard Road in Caversham, Reading, shortly before 08:00 BST on died at the scene, near Cedarwood Crescent, Thames Valley Police said.A 47-year-old woman from Reading, arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, has been released under investigation, the force added.
