Overseas voting begins at the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai
Overseas voting officially kicked off today at the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai, with a calm and organized start to the electoral process for Filipinos in the UAE.
At 8:00 AM, the voting area remained quiet with only a few early arrivals.
Nonetheless, Consul General Hon. Marford Angeles and Vice Consul Paola Belle Ebora and their team were already on-site, ready to welcome voters and provide assistance.
The Consulate staff, prepared and approachable, ensured that all necessary measures were in place for a smooth voting experience. 67-year-old senior citizen received voting assistance from staff at the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai during the first day of overseas voting.
One of the first to cast his vote was a 67-year-old senior citizen who has been living in Deira for over 20 years. He shared that his experience this year was notably better than in the previous elections, especially without the long queues and the help he received at the Consulate. Another voter, Oligario, came early seeking help after being unable to access the voting website. Though not part of the priority groups, he was still accommodated and received the assistance he needed from the staff.
As a reminder, only Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), pregnant women, senior citizens, and illiterate voters are allowed to use the on-site online voting kiosk. However, Consulate personnel are on standby to assist anyone encountering difficulties in the voting process.
Consul General Angeles also issued an important advisory: Voters are strictly prohibited from taking screenshots of their ballots, especially those displaying QR codes or the list of selected candidates. This is to protect the integrity and privacy of the electoral process.
Filipinos who are not yet enrolled are reminded to complete their overseas voter enrollment before May 7, 2025. Failure to do so means they will not be able to vote until the end of the election period on May 12, 2025.
The Consulate encourages all eligible Filipinos in Dubai and the Northern Emirates to participate in the ongoing overseas voting and exercise their right to vote for the nation's future.

Pag-IBIG Fund maintains low housing loan rates through end of 2025
Pag-IBIG Fund announced that it is maintaining its low interest rates on housing loans until the end of 2025, continuing its efforts to make homeownership more affordable and accessible for Filipino workers. 'We are keeping our housing loan interest rates low to help more Filipino workers achieve their dream of homeownership,' said Secretary Jose Ramon P. Aliling, Chairperson of the 11-member Pag-IBIG Fund Board of Trustees and Secretary of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD). 'This forms part of DHSUD's renewed direction to expand the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Program, in line with the vision of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to build a Bagong Pilipinas—where every Filipino has access to safe, affordable, and resilient communities. By keeping rates low, we make monthly amortizations more affordable, enabling more of our members—especially those who are minimum-wage earners and from low-income sectors—to finally move into homes they can truly afford.' Under its current terms, Pag-IBIG Fund offers housing loans at interest rates as low as 5.75% per annum for a one-year repricing period, and 6.25% for a three-year repricing period. Meanwhile, qualified low-income members may avail of special rates under the agency's Affordable Housing Program to purchase socialized housing units at just 3% per annum. Members may also enjoy loan terms of up to 30 years, helping keep monthly amortizations further within reach. Pag-IBIG Fund Chief Executive Officer Marilene C. Acosta said the agency's sound financial position makes the continued low rates possible. 'Pag-IBIG Fund's prudent fiscal management, strong collections, and high-performing loan portfolio continue to keep us financially sound, enabling us to finance our members' housing needs without external borrowing,' Acosta said. 'This allows us to maintain affordable rates and expand home financing access to more Filipino workers. As we fully support the government's housing thrust under the Marcos administration, we remain focused on helping more of our members—especially those in underserved sectors—secure homes they can call their own.' This announcement builds on Pag-IBIG Fund's strong performance in 2025. In the first quarter alone, the agency released ₱30.22 billion in home loans, benefiting over 20,000 members across the country. Additionally, Pag-IBIG Fund's total assets surpassed ₱1.1 trillion as of March 31, 2025, reflecting its robust financial standing and capacity to sustain long-term support for affordable housing finance.

VP Duterte extends greetings for Eid al-Adha
Vice President Sara Duterte has extended her warm greetings to the Filipino Muslim community as they observe Eid al-Adha, one of the most significant Islamic holidays marked by prayer, reflection, and the spirit of sacrifice. In a message released Friday, the Vice President highlighted the values of faith, sacrifice, and compassion as central themes of the celebration — values that transcend religion and reflect the shared ideals of the Filipino people. 'Nawa magsilbing paalala sa ating lahat ang kahulugan ng sakripisyo, pananampalataya, at kabutihang-loob,' Duterte said. 'Ang diwa ng Eid al-Adha ay nagsisilbing paalala ng lakas ng loob, pagbibigayan, at malasakit sa kapwa—mga katangiang lubhang mahalaga sa kasalukuyang panahon.' Duterte emphasized unity, mutual respect, and acceptance as pillars of national solidarity and progress. She also acknowledged the continuing contributions of Muslim Filipinos to the country's cultural and spiritual heritage. The Vice President concluded her message with a blessing, saying, 'Tanggapin sana natin ang biyaya ni Allah sa lahat ng panahon. Eid Mubarak!' Her statement ends with a reaffirmation of service to faith, country, and family: 'Ang lahat ng ginagawa natin ay para sa Diyos, sa Bayan, at sa bawat Pamilyang Pilipino.'

Marcos calls for unity, compassion on Eid'l Adha
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. called on Filipinos to embrace unity, compassion, and spiritual reflection as the country joins Muslim communities in observing Eid'l Adha, the Feast of Sacrifice. 'I join our Muslim communities in commemorating Eid'l Adha, the Feast of Sacrifice,' Marcos said in his official message. Underscoring the deeper meaning of the occasion, Marcos said, 'This sacred day calls us to remember that devotion reveals itself when we are asked to release what we once believed we could never give.' He reflected on the enduring story of the Prophet Ibrahim, describing it as a reminder of the difficult moral crossroads faced by individuals and communities alike. 'The story of Prophet Ibrahim endures because it leads us to the edge, to that thin border between obedience and resistance, where the soul must decide what truly matters,' said Marcos. Marcos emphasized that the message of Eid'l Adha transcends religious ritual, urging Filipinos to engage in introspection and a renewed sense of public service. 'Eid'l Adha invites us to embark on a more difficult journey—not towards a place, but towards a state of heart,' he added. With the celebration coinciding with the culmination of the Hajj pilgrimage, Marcos encouraged all citizens to ask what kind of offering truly builds a better nation. 'The measure is not in how much is given, but in what is restored: the dignity where there was dismissal, fairness where there was neglect, and compassion where there was indifference.' 'May the spirit of this sacred remembrance inspire Filipinos of all faiths to respond to what our times ask of us, and to leave behind not only victory but renewal. In doing so, we affirm that sacrifice, at its best, does not vanish but uplifts, and leaves something stronger,' said Marcos.
