Adil Rashid Overtakes Graeme Swann To Break All-Time Record For England
England spinner Adil Rashid surpasses the legendary Graeme Swann to grab the most international wickets by an England spin bowler. Swann had 410 wickets to his name, while Rashid, after taking four wickets in his outing against the West Indies in the second ODI of the three-match series on Sunday, now has 412 wickets. In his ten-over spell, Rashid removed Brandon King 59 (67), Shimron Hetmyer 4 (4), Gudakesh Motie 18 (9), and Alzarri Joseph 10 (3), while giving away 63 runs at an economy of 6.30 in the first innings. This was the 12th instance of the Englishman taking four-plus wickets in ODI cricket, as the Windies were bowled out for 308 in 47.4 overs.
Rashid played 294 matches to achieve this feat. He has an average of 30.94 across all formats and an economy rate of 5.45, with his best figures of 5/27 against Ireland. In 151 ODIs, the star spinner has raced to 221 wickets at an average of 32.44. His economy rate reads 5.65. With 131 scalps, Rashid is the highest wicket-taker for England in T20Is.
Keacy Carty benefited from England's profligacy in the field to make an excellent century. Still, the West Indies collapsed from 205 for two to 308 all out in the second one-day international at Sophia Gardens.
Carty was put down on one and 41 and also survived a couple of run-out chances to make 103 off 105 balls, but England fought back following his departure as they look to wrap up a first ODI series win since September 2023.
England Squad: Ben Duckett, Jamie Smith, Joe Root, Harry Brook(c), Jos Buttler(w), Jacob Bethell, Will Jacks, Brydon Carse, Matthew Potts, Adil Rashid, Saqib Mahmood, Tom Banton, Tom Hartley, Luke Wood.

Phil Salt absent during training ahead of RCB vs PBKS IPL 2025 Final, team silent on star opener's availability: Report
Just as Royal Challengers Bengaluru prepare for the biggest night in their IPL history, a major curveball has unsettled their camp. Star opener Phil Salt didn't train for the IPL 2025 final against Punjab Kings, with the Englishman expecting the birth of his first child. Salt's absence from RCB's practice session on the eve of the final at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium only fuelled the speculation. According to a report by ESPNCricinfo, Salt may not even be in the city, with plans being made for him to accompany his partner during the delivery. If that turns out to be true, it would be a huge blow to RCB's title hopes, as Salt has been instrumental in powering their batting charge this season with 387 runs in 12 matches, striking at 175.90 and averaging over 35. Interestingly, neither head coach Andy Flower nor captain Rajat Patidar addressed Salt's availability during their pre-match media duties. The silence appears strategic. Flower, in particular, has developed a reputation for employing tactical smokescreens. He has often had even his injured players go through warm-ups before games, deliberately keeping the opposition second-guessing the actual XI. Salt wasn't the only absentee from RCB's training session, with a few other squad members also opting to rest. But among all, Salt's absence stands out. His opening partnership with Virat Kohli has laid the foundation for many of RCB's big totals this season. Losing him now could force the Bengaluru franchise into a last-minute reshuffle. With Jacob Bethell already unavailable due to international duty, RCB's options for a replacement opener are limited. Tim Seifert, signed earlier as a replacement, remains a possibility, as does Mayank Agarwal. Both are likely candidates to partner Kohli at the top, should Salt be confirmed unavailable. While the franchise has not officially announced its decision, the uncertainty around Salt's status looms large ahead of what is already a high-pressure night for RCB. The franchise, still chasing its first IPL title, now faces the additional challenge of possibly filling a key void in its XI.

RCB Star Doubtful For IPL 2025 Final Against PBKS, Team Tight-Lipped: Report
Phil Salt may miss the Indian Premier League final for RCB against PBKS due to the birth of his child, as per a report. Phil Salt may not be available for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) final against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, June 3. Salt's participation is in doubt due to the imminent birth of his child, as the Englishman's absence from RCB's final training session has fuelled speculation about his availability for the summit clash. As per a report in ESPNCricinfo, Salt may not be present in Ahmedabad for the IPL 2025 final against PBKS, with the star wicket-keeper and opening batter opting to be with his partner for the birth of their first child. RCB coach Andy Flower and captain Rajat Patidar, though, remained tight-lipped on the matter, arguably choosing to keep the situation private before the crucial encounter. Flower is known for his strategic mind games, often including even injured players in warm-up exercises to maintain an element of surprise. However, Salt was not alone in missing the practice session; several other RCB players were also absent, as per the report. While the exact situation remains unclear, it is possible that Salt has already departed for home. Salt has played a vital role for RCB this season, amassing 387 runs in 12 matches at a strike rate of 175.90 and an average of 35.18. His absence would undoubtedly be a significant blow to RCB's title aspirations. With Jacob Bethell already unavailable due to international commitments, RCB's opening combination faces further disruption if Salt is unable to play. Should Salt be unavailable, Tim Siefert, signed as a replacement player, and Mayank Agarwal emerge as the frontrunners to partner Virat Kohli at the top of the order. A current concern for RCB is the availability of powerful hitter Tim David, who has been absent from their last two matches due to a hamstring injury. 'Till now, I have no idea about Tim David. Doctors are there and we will get to know this evening," RCB skipper Rajat Patidar said in the pre-match press conference. Tim David's fitness remains uncertain, with his presence being vital, particularly given his key role alongside Romario Shepherd in late-innings batting.

Last Updated: Nepal's thrilling one-wicket victory over Scotland in the Cricket World Cup League 2 was a thriller of a win. Nepal's thrilling and heart-stopping victory over Scotland gave the Cricket World Cup League 2 a massive boost, as the visitors stunned the hosts to clinch a one-wicket win, as both teams pushed for a spot in the 2027 ODI World Cup, which will be played in South Africa. Needing a single off the last legal ball, a leg-side wide was ruled off the bowling of spinner Mark Watt, sparking a pitch invasion from Nepal fans in Dundee. Watch the video here: The successful chase of 297 is Nepal's highest in their ODI history, and the win against Scotland moves them off the bottom of the League 2 table. Put in to bat first, the hosts lost George Munsey in the third over before Charlie Tear and Brendon McMullen added 61 runs for the second wicket. After the latter was dismissed by Sompal Kami in the 12th over, Tear and skipper Richie Berrington added 79 runs for the third wicket. Scotland were soon reduced to 159/4, before Finlay McCreath and wicketkeeper Matthew Cross added 78 runs for the fifth wicket. After the latter was dismissed by Sandeep Lamichhane in the 43rd over, McCreath and Michael Leask added 44 runs for the sixth wicket. No more partnerships ensued after that, and Scotland posted a respectable 296. In the chase, Nepal's Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh added 72 runs for the opening stand. After being reduced to 78/2 in the 13th over, Bhim Sarki and skipper Rohit Paudel built a match-winning 74-run partnership for the third wicket. Nepal then found themselves at 192/7 in the 39th over, before Gulsan Jha and Karan KC added 60 runs for the eighth wicket. Walking out at No. 9, the latter smacked 65* from 41 deliveries, including four sixes. After Gulsan was dismissed in the 46th over, Karan and Lamichhane built a 38-run partnership for the ninth wicket. After Lamichhane was dismissed on the first ball of the final over, Karan and Rijan Dhakal took Nepal over the line. The latter managed to move off strike, leaving Karan with the task of needing five off the last three deliveries. Karan then smacked two twos before Watt's second wide confirmed the win against Scotland. A pitch invasion ensued as the Nepal cricketers were all over Karan, the all-round hero of the victory over Scotland. The tri-series continues on June 4 with Nepal facing the Netherlands at the same venue. First Published: June 03, 2025, 09:57 IST
