State DGP witnesses SDRF demo by TGSP personnel
Hyderabad: The Telangana State Director General of Police Dr Jitender oversaw a demonstration by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), comprising personnel from the Telangana State Special Police (TGSP) in Hussain Sagar on Friday.
Trained TGSP personnel conducted a demonstration at the Boat Club in Hussain Sagar. They showcased their efforts to rescue victims who had drowned and those in distress in the water.
The SDRF was established with members from all battalions of the Telangana State Special Police to ensure effective rescue operations during flood situations. The Chief Minister inaugurated the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) at the Praja Palana Victory Day celebrations that took place last December.
SDRF teams were formed with personnel from Battalions Yusufguda, Adilabad, Ibrahimpatnam, Warangal, Mulugu, Kothagudem, Nizamabad, Kondapur, Bachupally, Nalgonda, Mancherial, and Siricilla. They were trained by National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel.
They underwent two months of training at NDRF centers in Cuttack (Odisha), Arakkonam (Tamil Nadu), Vadodara (Gujarat), Pune (Maharashtra), and Vijayawada (AP).
Additional DGP of Law and Order Mahesh M Bhagwat, Additional DGP of TGSP Sanjay Kumar Jain, Commandant of Yousufguda Battalion Muralikrishna and others were present.

GANGTOK: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Wednesday held a high-level meeting with senior state government officials to take stock of the situation in landslide-hit Mangan district. Three army personnel were killed and six soldiers went missing after a landslide hit a military camp at Chaten. Several others were also injured. The landslide, which occurred at 7 pm on Sunday near Lachen town in Mangan district, was triggered by heavy rainfall in the area. "Today, I convened a high-level meeting with the chief secretary and senior officials from the Planning and Land & Revenue Departments to take stock of the concerning situation in Mangan district," he said in a social media post. "What is unfolding is truly heartbreaking. Our people are facing immense hardship due to this natural calamity and my heart goes out to every family affected," he said referring to large-scale destruction of road infrastructure due to landslides triggered by heavy rain in Mangan district. The chief minister said that he has directed all departments to act swiftly and in close coordination with the NDRF, SDRF, BRO, TAAS, and other agencies concerned to ensure that rescue and relief operations are carried out without delay. "Every possible effort is being made to reach those in need," he said. Tamang urged all residents and tourists not to panic as the state government is doing everything within its power to manage the situation and protect lives. "We are with you at every step, and we will not rest until safety and normalcy are restored," he said, while appealing for unity, strength, and cooperation from everyone. "Let us stand together as one family, and we will overcome this challenge with courage and compassion," he said. The state government has already declared the damage caused by incessant rainfall in Mangan district since May 28 as a "disaster" under Section 22(2)(b) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, according to an official statement. The declaration was issued by the Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority (SSDMA) and the Land Revenue and Disaster Management Department.

Indore Couple Missing Probe: Suspected Murder Weapon Recovered In Meghalaya's Weisawdong Falls
Last Updated: The case involves Indore-based couple Raja and Sonam Raghuvanshi, who went missing on May 23 while on their honeymoon in Meghalaya's Sohra region Meghalaya Police have recovered the suspected murder weapon — a dao (machete) — along with a mobile phone from the deepest layer of the gorge near Weisawdong Falls. East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem confirmed that the search operation, now reaching the third and final layer of the gorge, was carried out by joint teams of the NDRF, SDRF, and the Special Operations Team. The case involves Indore-based couple Raja and Sonam Raghuvanshi, who went missing on May 23 while on their honeymoon in Meghalaya's Sohra region. Eight days later, the semi-decomposed body of 30-year-old Raja was discovered at the bottom of the gorge near the Weisawdong Falls parking area at Riat Arliang. He was identified by a distinctive 'Raja" tattoo on his right hand. The search for 27-year-old Sonam is still underway. Police have registered a murder case and are treating the circumstances with suspicion. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) is leading the probe. 'We are investigating with an open mind, and all possibilities, including honour killing, are being explored," SP Syiem told CNN-News18. Evidence recovered from the site has raised serious concerns. Items found include a woman's white shirt, a broken mobile screen, a strip of Pentra 40 tablets (used for acidity), and Raja's smartwatch, which was still strapped to his wrist when the body was recovered. The couple had checked out of a homestay in Nongriat village — located around 20 km from where Raja's body was found — on May 23. They had arrived in Mawlakhiat the previous day, parked a rented scooter, and descended 3,000 steps to visit the living root bridges in Nongriat, where they spent the night. Raja's body has been sent to NEIGRIHMS, Shillong, for post-mortem examination. As the search for Sonam continues, investigators hope that the recovery of the dao and mobile phone will provide critical leads in unraveling the mystery behind the suspected double homicide. Uttarakhand SDRF rescues two stranded pilgrims near Lincholi, during their return from Kedarnath
Rudraprayag (Uttarakhand) [India], June 3 (ANI): Uttarakhand State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) on Tuesday rescued two tourists stranded near the Chhoti Lincholi glacier point on their way back from Kedarnath, said an official statement. The incident occurred after the pilgrims, returning from their visit to Kedarnath Dham, attempted to take a shortcut and lost their way. The SDRF team, led by Sub Inspector Jitendra Singh from Post Lincholi, received the alert from the Disaster Control Room, Rudraprayag, and immediately mobilised to the location. Upon arrival, the team initiated a search operation and soon located the stranded individuals on a rocky hillside along the riverbank. According to people at the scene, a group of five pilgrims had deviated from the main route in an attempt to descend quickly via an uncharted path along the river. While three of them managed to return safely, two people named Dharamveer (28) and Shaili Singh (27), both residents of Delhi were trapped on a rocky hill as there was no further path. The situation was further complicated by continuous rainfall, which left the two youths drenched and suffering from the cold. Their condition was deteriorating rapidly due to prolonged exposure to the cold. With prudence and promptness, the SDRF team rescued both people safely and brought them to a safe place, where they were provided with necessary assistance and medical care. Kedarnath Dham Yatra is one of the most difficult religious pilgrimages in the country. After crossing a difficult walking route of about 20 kilometres, one can have darshan of the 11th Jyotilinga situated in the lap of the Himalayan mountains. Horses and mules play a very important role in this difficult religious journey on foot. Incapable and elderly devotees often travel through them, while food items and other essential items are transported to the Yatra route and Kedarpuri by these horses and mules. For the year 2025, the doors of Baba Kedarnath Dham were opened for the devotees on May 2. One month has passed since the doors of Baba were opened. On Sunday, June 1, the number of devotees visiting Baba Kedarnath Dham has crossed 7 lakh. If the average of the last one month is taken, then 24 thousand devotees have reached Kedarpuri for Baba's darshan every day. So far more than seven lakh devotees have reached Shri Kedarnath Dham.
