Boss Zhipin taps buoyant Hong Kong market with US$288 million share offering

China's largest online recruitment platform Kanzhun, also known as Boss Zhipin, said on Wednesday it had issued 30 million new class A ordinary shares in Hong Kong, the company's first public fundraising in the city since its dual primary listing in December 2022.
The offering, aimed at enhancing the company's financial flexibility and strengthening its liquidity, is expected to raise up to HK$2.26 billion (US$288 million).
The maximum issue price per share was HK$78, representing a premium of around 14.04 per cent to Tuesday's closing price of HK$68.40.
Boss Zhipin was initially listed on Nasdaq in 2021. The following year it made a Hong Kong listing by way of introduction, a method of listing when a company's shares have already been issued on another exchange.

'We were afraid that we wouldn't be able to sell our stock at that time, so we just took the step of listing it,' Zhao Peng, founder and CEO of Boss Zhipin, said at a media briefing on Wednesday. 'Since listing in Hong Kong, I have been trying to increase our liquidity in [the city] and waited for a good time [when] people were willing to buy our stock.'

CATL executive warns of risks from EV price cuts, calls on Beijing to intervene

A senior executive from Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL) , the world's largest producer of batteries for electric vehicles (EVs), urged authorities on the mainland to intervene in the price war that is roiling the market for new energy cars. Ni Jun, CATL's chief manufacturing officer, on Wednesday said the brutal discount war would not end if Beijing remained on the sidelines. 'One big player cannot always lower prices [to gain market share] while driving out all other small rivals,' he said at the World Economic Forum in Tianjin. 'If it continues to do so without proper [regulatory] oversight, all of its rivals will not survive.' Ni did not name the 'big player', but BYD – the world's largest EV builder – kicked off a fresh round of price cuts in May. The EV giant offered discounts of 10 per cent to more than 30 per cent on 22 of its battery-powered and plug-in hybrid models, which prompted other firms to slash prices on 70 models in May, according to the mainland business publication 21st Century Business Herald. CATL, which for the first four months of 2025 had a 38.6 per cent share of the global EV battery market, raised US$5.22 billion in its Hong Kong share listing last month, the world's largest initial public offering this year. Ni's remarks at the forum were the latest warning from an influential industry player about the prospects for the mainland's EV sector, which despite its troubles was considered to be at the global vanguard for electric cars.

Macau luxury property The 13 Hotel sells for HK$600 million to a local buyer

The 13 Hotel , touted as one of the world's most expensive hotels, has been acquired for HK$600 million (US$76.43 million) by an unidentified investor in Macau , the city's first such property transaction in eight years. The sale of the 22-storey lodging in Macau's southernmost district of Coloane concluded a five-year search for a buyer, Savills Macau managing director Franco Liu said on Wednesday. The acquisition was Macau's first hotel transaction since the fourth quarter of 2017, according to Liu. He added that the sale price represented the biggest post- pandemic property deal in the city. The 199-room hotel had been valued at HK$2.4 billion last year, when it was first launched for tender. According to Mark Wong, senior director at JLL in Macau, the local buyer had extensive experience in the city's property market – including operating hotels – and had international real estate investments. The buyer also had strong confidence in Macau, Wong said. Savills and JLL in Macau served as joint agents in the sale of The 13 Hotel. The striking red facade of The 13 Hotel. Hong Kong's strengths in bridging east and west amid trade war, says finance chief

Hong Kong's finance minister has dismissed concerns that foreigners are avoiding the city because of its strong connections to the mainland Chinese market amid the trade war, saying that investors are demonstrating their confidence with their capital. At the 'Summer Davos' forum on Wednesday, Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po said Hong Kong's strengths lie in giving investors priority access to the mainland market while helping businesses across the border go global and diversify their supply chains to Southeast Asia. When asked if the city's close ties to the mainland, amid the US-China trade war, could deter investors, Chan pointed out that capital from the United States and Europe contributed mostly to the Hong Kong stock market, which has grown by 15 per cent so far this year. 'Investors do use their capital to cast a vote as to the confidence in our part of the world,' said Chan. He made the comments during a panel discussion titled 'Is Asia's Century at Risk?' at the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Tianjin, northern China. Chan was joined by Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Sri Lanka's Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Sunil Handunneththi, and Deputy Chair of the Great Indonesia Movement Party, Rahayu Saraswati Djojohadikusumo.
