'Since its inception, Animation Is Film's purpose has been to celebrate the idea that animation pushes the boundaries of what cinema is capable of. The growth of the festival year after year is confirmation that American audiences embrace this. 2025 is shaping up to be an extraordinary year for the medium. We love Los Angeles and are so happy to be back,' said Matt Kaszanek, Director of Animation Is Film.
'We are proud to be a partner for Animation Is Film, a festival that celebrates animation as a bold, boundary-pushing art form,' added Mickaël Marin, director general and CEO of Annecy Festival. 'Each year, it brings together a passionate community of cinephiles and animation lovers in the heart of Los Angeles. We're thrilled to continue this journey, united by a shared love for animated storytelling in all its forms.'
To mark the announcement, the festival also unveiled its 2025 teaser poster, created by French artist Camille Authouart. Authouart's short film 'La Grande Arche' was featured at AIF in 2023.
Animation Is Film has become a key stop on the road to awards season, with many films premiering or gaining early traction at the festival. At the 2024 edition, the Grand Jury Prize went to 'Flow,' which went on to win both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe. The Oscar-winning short 'In the Shadow of the Cypress' also had its Los Angeles premiere at AIF.
In recent years, acclaimed and award-winning titles such as 'The Boy and the Heron' by Hayao Miyazaki, 'Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio' and Disney's 'Encanto' held early events at the festival.
Founded in 2017, AIF continues to fill a unique role in the U.S. by providing a world-class platform for animated cinema, celebrating the medium's full artistic potential.

Bruce Springsteen's Blockbuster Albums Storm The Charts Together
Bruce Springsteen is spending the summer traveling around Europe, performing dates on his Land of Hope and Dreams tour. The trek began two years ago under the name Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band 2023–2025 Tour, but when he picked up the guitar again in mid-May, he later renamed the venture and brought it to the United Kingdom. Springsteen and company recently played dates in Liverpool, marking his return to the nation, and this move has spurred a buying frenzy of his catalog. Half a dozen of Springsteen's albums appear on at least one chart apiece in the U.K. this week. Four of those titles return to the rankings, becoming bestselling releases once more. Born in the USA is the only one of Springsteen's titles that returns to a sales list and appears inside the top 40. The early-career classic breaks back onto the Official Album Downloads chart at No. 35. It also lands at No. 79 on the Official Albums Sales list after not appearing on that tally at all just a few days ago. Greatest Hits also reappears on both the Official Albums Sales and Official Physical Albums charts, where it can be found at Nos. 49 and 83, respectively. At the same time, the compilation rockets from No. 80 to No. 7 on the Official Album Downloads ranking – reaching a new high point in the process. Yet another compilation, titled simply Best Of, jumps back onto both the Official Albums Streaming list and the Official Albums chart. On those tallies, the compilation can be found at Nos. 84 and 93, respectively. Springsteen's catalog is so popular that one collection of smash singles isn't enough for the nation. The River is the only one of Springsteen's comebacks that doesn't make a home on several rankings. This time around, it only reenters the Official Album Downloads chart, where it comes in at No. 72. In addition to his quartet of returning favorites, one of Springsteen's oldest projects — his breakout set Born to Run — manages to debut on the downloads-only tally. The career-making set launches at No. 92, decades after it was first unveiled to the world.

Live updates: House set to vote on DOGE-inspired cuts to foreign aid, PBS, NPR
The House is set to vote Thursday on a package of funding cuts inspired by the U.S. DOGE Service that until recently was overseen by Elon Musk. The clawbacks, totaling $9.4 billion, take aim at foreign aid and funding for PBS and NPR, among other things. It could be the first in a series of so-called recession packages. At the White House, President Donald Trump is expected to sign a measure Thursday that blocks California's first-in-the-nation rule banning the sale of new gas-powered cars by 2035. He is also scheduled to sign executive orders and host a congressional picnic. Elon Musk is out of Washington, but House Republicans could make his legacy law. The House is scheduled to vote Thursday on a package of federal funding cuts inspired by the U.S. DOGE Service's slashing of the federal government. Those cuts include an effective elimination of U.S. foreign aid and funding for PBS and NPR. The total cost of the clawbacks is $9.4 billion. President Donald Trump ousted the leadership of the Kennedy Center and installed his own loyalists. He has said he wants to remake its show offerings and renovate its building. And on Wednesday night, he came to hear the people sing. Trump arrived in a box to watch one of his favorite musicals, in the venue that he has long avoided but is now trying to embrace after taking control. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) said the Trump administration has excluded him and his family from a congressional picnic at the White House in what he believes to be an act of retribution, politicizing an annual celebration of bipartisanship over Paul's refusal to support the president's signature legislation. HARRISBURG, Pa. — Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, widely considered a possible Democratic contender for the presidency, vowed Wednesday to protect the right of protesters if President Donald Trump sends troops into Philadelphia as he has done with the National Guard and Marines in Los Angeles, and to work with local law enforcement to keep the city safe.

Netflix Co-CEO Sees Warner Split as Part of Broader ‘Shakeout'
Warner Bros. Discovery Inc. 'Everything is moving to streaming — everything is moving to on demand,' Peters said Thursday in an interview with Bloomberg Editor-in-Chief John Micklethwait at the Founders Forum Global conference. 'There's going to be a period of shakeout and transition associated with that.'
