Tickets available from May 16 for Boks-Italy Test in Gqeberha
Tickets for the Springboks' eagerly awaited match against Italy at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha on July 12 will go on sale on Friday May 16, SA Rugby have announced.
The Boks take on the Italians in a two-Test series in Pretoria and Gqeberha, before meeting Georgia in Mbombela in the Castle Lager Incoming Series as the Boks return to home soil in Test match action for the first time since September last year.
Tickets will be available exclusively from Ticketmaster.
Details of an additional home match against the world-famous Barbarians will also be announced shortly. Tickets for the Boks' home matches in their defence of the Castle Lager Rugby Championship title will go on sale one month later, on Friday June 13.
The start to the Bok season not only represents an opportunity to see the back-to-back World Champions in local action but also launches a year in which the Boks will be fighting to defend their No 1 world ranking to secure the most favourable draw for Rugby World Cup 2027.
SA Rugby CEO Rian Oberholzer said: 'This is more than just the start of the season — it's a chance for South Africans to once again unite behind a team that brings pride to the nation in a critical year for World Cup preparation.
' We had an amazing 2024 and we're looking forward to seeing South Africans fill stadiums with passionate supporters, enjoying the experience as a memorable kickoff to a year filled with big challenges and even bigger opportunities.'

It's Ireland versus the Blue Bulls in URC final, says Jake White
NATIONAL PRIDE AT STAKE Jake White anticipates a thrilling URC final showdown as the Bulls face Leinster, likening it to Ireland vs the Bulls, with both teams vying for victory at Croke Park this Saturday. Picture: Itumeleng English/Independent Newspapers The hosts also boast a lineup littered with Ireland internationals, and Leinster will want to vanquish their Southern Hemisphere opponents. Jake White says the United Rugby Championship final against Leinster on Saturday will be like Ireland against the Bulls . Kick-off is 6pm SA time. Bulls Gear Up for Tough URC Final Clash Against Leinster "This is a completely different challenge, but previous results don't matter, they are immaterial,' White told 'We have a lotto ticket, and you can't win if you don't have a ticket. We have a 50% chance of winning. We know how tough finals are and it's going to be like Ireland versus the Bulls, we can't underplay how good Leinster are. Look what they did to Glasgow, so I'm sure they'll be on a high." White also acknowledged the challenge ahead without discounting his side's chances. "I believe we are good enough to win the final, even though beating Leinster away from home is never easy. They are loaded with internationals and British and Irish Lions, plus RG Snyman, Rabah Slimani and Jordie Barrett. We are playing against the form team; they have only lost twice in the URC this season. They have been the toughest team to play against the last four years, and our players are going to be tested probably like they never have before.' "So, we'll need to work hard, and we will have to play really well. It's when you expect your senior players to be really important. Willie le Roux, Marco van Staden and Canan Moodie are all World Cup winners. We have guys who are experienced in playing in finals, they have paid their school fees, and they can talk about what works and what doesn't." @Michael_Sherman IOL Sport

Proteas caught between the Lord's slope and the deep blue sea . . . time to show positive intent
South Africa's David Bedingham is going to be a key player on day two of the World Test Championship final. Image: Marco Longari / AFP Positive intent. It's normally something that is non-negotiable when it comes to Shukri Conrad's coaching philosophy. The Proteas mentor likes to play the game on the front-foot. He wants his charges to fight fire with fire and be aggressive on the field of play without doing something stupid. So it must have been hard for the coach sitting on the Lord's balcony wrapped up in his jacket on a cool London summer's day watching his batters trying to survive in the World Test Championship final against one of the best seam attacks the game has ever seen. Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazelwood were getting the new Duke ball to talk and do all sorts of things up and down the infamous slope at the 'Home of Cricket'. At one stage just eight runs were scored during a tense 70-ball period, as the Aussies launched a fightback after being dismissed for 212 shortly after the tea break on the first day. Advertisement Next Stay Close ✕ The Proteas ended the day in all sorts of trouble on 43/4 – 169 runs in arrears – after they were unable to combat Australians' relentless attack with the ball. The South Africans hardly landed a punch, never mind throwing one during their time at the crease. They just tried to survive, instead of trying something to get these Australians off their line and length. As we saw in the first innings, trying to survive on this pitch is not the way to go, as Steve Smith showed during his knock when he counter-punched after the Aussies also lost early wickets. But the Proteas under Conrad fought back from these situations on many occasions over the last year, coming back from a similar shaky start on a seaming pitch against Sri Lanka in Durban to win that match. The same thing happened against the same opposition in Gqeberha. In those matches the Proteas counter-punched brilliantly, getting themselves off the ropes to land some telling blows which set up victories in both matches. Of course, the Aussie bowling line-up is a lot better than Sri Lanka's attack, but a similar mindset is needed to try and repair the damage that was inflicted in the last hour on the first day at Lord's.
