EXCLUSIVE Tyra Banks' changing face: Plastic surgery expert weighs in after model's unrecognizable red carpet moment

Daily Mail01-05-2025

Tyra Banks shocked her fans when she debuted a strikingly different visage on the red carpet last week.
The 51-year-old supermodel's face was nearly unrecognizable when she arrived at The Daily Front Row's 9th Annual Fashion Los Angeles Awards.
But amid concerns about the apparent changes to her look, the renowned plastic surgeon Dr. David Pincus has weighed in on what Tyra may done to her face in an exclusive conversation with DailyMail.com.
'As a plastic surgeon, I can say Tyra Banks appears to have maintained her natural features beautifully,' Dr. Pincus — who did not examine Banks personally — noted. 'She's always been known for bold, creative makeup looks that dramatically enhance or shift her appearance.'
Banks used particularly heavy makeup at the awards ceremony, raising questions about whether their had been a physical change to her face or if it was just an optical illusion.
But Pincus leaned towards her makeup being the primary reason for her unrecognizable appearance.
'In these recent photos, she still looks vibrant and unique,' he continued, adding, 'I don't see signs of significant surgical work.'
The cosmetic surgeon noted her ultra-smooth forehead and suggested the catwalk star 'may have had 30–60 units of Botox in the forehead to smooth lines and keep the brow area lifted.
Based on examining photos of Banks on the red carpet, Pincus suggested her appearance was heavily influenced by the work of her makeup artist and stylist, rather than a medical professional.
'Overall, this seems more like expert makeup and styling than any major cosmetic intervention,' he said.
Tyra's striking makeup created the impression of an almost bug-eyed visage, which some fans on social media compared to the humanoid extraterrestrial characters peppering the Star Trek universe.
She emphasized her stunning eyes with pale silver eyeshadow, and she sported extra-thick, dark eyebrows that appeared to be drawn with more of an upward curve than she usually favors, which gave her a chillier appearance.
However, she counteracted her edgy eye makeup with some warm blush highlighting her prominent cheekbones.
Tyra rounded out her makeup with light matte pink lipstick for a splash of color that contrasted her otherwise-monochrome ensemble.
'Overall, this seems more like expert makeup and styling than any major cosmetic intervention,' he said. Banks was spotted in February in Sydney, Australia, with a strikingly different no-makeup look
Just days before her appearance at the Fashion Los Angeles Awards, Tyra displayed a more traditional look when she appeared at an event for the new action film Shadow Force, which stars Kerry Washington.
She sported a tasteful smokey eye that was framed by '60s-chic bangs as part of a honey-blond wig, and she stayed on the '60s theme with a tan trench coat decorated with flower-shaped cut-outs
Tyra showed off a shockingly different look back in February, when she was spotted out in Sydney, Australia, in a rare makeup-free look.
The former Dancing With The Stars host squinted in the sun but showed off her natural complexion without a layer of makeup.
Months earlier, Tyra rocked similarly voluminous curls but a more characteristic made-up face when she attended the reopening of Burberry's 57th Street Store in New York City.
The television star has had a remarkably stable appearance over time — by Hollywood standards — fans have wondered about her seemingly changing appearance over the years on social media.
Last month, some commenters on Instagram thought she looked 'nothing like herself' when she posted photos of herself at Paris Fashion Week.
Tyra's nose was a subject of concern for several fans, with one person suggesting that 'Her nose is almost gone, while another wondered, ' Who's nose she got on?'

Although Tyra hasn't admitted to any recent cosmetic procedures, she admitted in her 2018 memoir Perfect Is Boring that she had had a 'nose job,' though she claimed it was early in her career; pictured in 2014 in Sydney, Australia

Another user thought Banks 'looked angry' now because of alleged changes to her face.
'I can't recognize her as Tyra banks,' another person admitted.
Although Tyra hasn't admitted to any recent cosmetic procedures, she admitted in her 2018 memoir Perfect Is Boring that she had had a 'nose job, ' though she claimed it was early in her career.
'I had bones in my nose that were growing and itching,' the runway star wrote. 'I could breathe fine, but I added cosmetic surgery. I admit it! Fake hair, and I did my nose.
'I feel I have a responsibility to tell the truth,' she added.
Although fans thought her nose looked thinner than ever in some of her recent appearances, that may have been due to her expert use of makeup for contouring, which can make one's nose appear dramatically slimmer.
She also doesn't appear to have taken any extended periods of time away from the spotlight, which would have been necessary to allow any swelling accompanying a cosmetic procedure to pass.
Elsewhere in her memoir, she shared that she didn't care for no-makeup looks that are in vogue with some other models.
'We place a lot of emphasis on that,' she wrote. 'As a model, I needed makeup. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. It leveled my playing field.'
She included a playful jab at fellow supermodel Gisele Bündchen.
'Gisele, you don't need it? I do!' Tyra added. 'And we're both modeling for Victoria's Secret.'

Music icon, 85, sues sexual assault accusers for $500,000,000

Legendary Motown singer Smokey Robinson has filed legal documents in Los Angeles seeking $500million (£392m) in damages from four former employees who have accused him of sexual assault. The lawsuit, which follows civil allegations brought by the women, was reported by which claims to have reviewed the legal filings submitted by Robinson's legal team. According to the publication Robinson, 85, and his wife Frances assert in the court documents that they consistently treated their household staff with respect and generosity. In the filings, Robinson strongly denies all allegations of sexual misconduct and claims that the plaintiffs were treated as 'extended family.' The documents reportedly outline various acts of kindness and support the couple extended to the women during their employment, including gifts such as concert tickets, vehicles, financial help for dental emergencies, and more. As part of the defense, Robinson submitted evidence intended to demonstrate the friendly nature of his relationship with the plaintiffs. One example cited in the documents is his attendance at the graduation dinner of a plaintiff's child and the gifting of a vacation. The Daily Mail also reports that Robinson's legal team submitted text messages sent by the plaintiffs, including messages such as 'Love you,' 'Happy birthday… God bless you,' and invitations to personal events. The countersuit reportedly includes claims of defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, financial elder abuse, invasion of privacy, and civil conspiracy. Robinson is also asking the court to publicly identify the plaintiffs, arguing that media outlets have already begun reporting on the case, making anonymity impractical and unfair. As of now, no criminal charges have been reported, and the case remains a civil matter. The four former employees alleged repeated sexual assault and harassment at his Los Angeles-area home and other locations, including Las Vegas. The women, identified in the complaint as Jane Doe 1 through 4, also name Robinson's wife, Frances, as a defendant, accusing her of creating a hostile work environment and failing to intervene despite alleged prior knowledge of her husband's behavior. The plaintiffs are seeking a jury trial and at least $50 million in damages (approximately £40 million). In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, the couple's attorney, Christopher Frost, called the claims 'vile' and 'false,' describing the suit as 'an ugly method of trying to extract money.' He added that the defense plans to file a motion to dismiss based on inconsistencies and timeline issues in the complaint. According to the suit, the alleged assaults span from 2007 to 2024 and include claims of rape, sexual battery, false imprisonment, and failure to pay minimum wage. The women allege a pattern of predatory behavior and emotional abuse, claiming Robinson used his position to isolate and exploit them. More Trending The lawsuit also accuses Frances Robinson of verbal abuse and the use of 'ethnically pejorative language,' contributing to what the plaintiffs describe as a toxic work environment. A news conference addressing the lawsuit was scheduled for Tuesday in Los Angeles, according to Variety. Smokey Robinson, a central figure in the rise of Motown, is known for hits like Cruisin' and Tracks of My Tears, and has received numerous honors including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and the National Medal of Arts. Alex Fevola, 48, shows off her incredibly youthful looks in sleek black ensemble as she attends Melbourne Autumn Ball

Alex Fevola was looking decades younger than her years as she stepped out at a glitzy event on Thursday. The 48-year-old was turning heads in a black ensemble as she attended the Melbourne Autumn Ball. The longtime partner of AFL great Brendan Fevola opted for a tailored blazer style coat that skimmed her trim figure. Underneath, she had on a black maxi dress with some sheer lace detailing across the bust. Alex added a pair of pointed heels and carried a quilted clutch purse as well as adding a dainty necklace. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Alex wore her long, blonde hair down around her fresh, line-free face in soft waves. For makeup, she chose a warm, rosy palette with a pastel pink lipstick and some glowing highlighter. It comes after Alex got candid about her main skin concerns in an interview with 9Honey. Alex revealed she spends up to $1,600 per year on beauty products and treatments, and gets 'Botox a couple of times a year' to combat general wrinkles. 'I don't like to be frozen but I do like to soften the furrow between my brows. So a little Botox every five months, I find, works for me,' Alex said of her regimen. The mother of four added that her main skin concerns in her forties are 'just general ageing' and finds Botox 'the most effective against general wrinkles'. She also revealed she spends 'maybe $800 per year on products' and a further '$800 per year on treatments'. Alex, who often shares her beauty secrets on social media, listed a luminous foundation, a face palette and mascara as her 'go-to' products in a 2020 interview with House of Wellness. The beauty entrepreneur explained how a face palette - often consisting of an eye shadow, bronzer, blush and highlighter - allows her to transform her 'whole face within five minutes'. Alex said her ultimate beauty hack was multi-purpose products such as cream tints, which can be applied to the eyes, cheeks and lips for an 'all-over fresh glow'. Radio presenter Brendan and make-up artist Alex married in 2005 but divorced in 2014. However, their separation was short-lived, with the pair reuniting later that same year, before getting engaged for the second time in 2016. Brendan proposed to Alex in front of their children shortly after being crowned the winner of the 2016 season of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! At the time, Brendan told radio host Dave Thornton on the Fifi and Dave show: 'I was a bit nervous, I didn't think she'd say yes. 'Because we've been married before and obviously been divorced. It was really beautiful with the kids there.' While the couple have been engaged for a number of years, they are yet to tie the knot for the second time.

Why Molly-Mae's sister Zoe has ended up with botched Botox TWICE & the hidden signs it can happen to you

GOING into 'hiding' once again, Molly-Mae Hague's sister, Zoe, has been left with a drooping eyelid after receiving Botox. Despite experiencing a similar issue back in February and vowing to swear off the treatment, the 28-year-old found herself in the same predicament in her quest to go wrinkle-free. 8 8 The reality star's sister admitted she could"weep" after the procedure went wrong again, leaving her with a half-closed eye that she felt compelled to conceal behind sunglasses. Zoe candidly shared her beauty mishap in a video on her YouTube page titled "I won't be posting for a while." In the video shared on her YouTube, she confessed: "And I hold my hands up – I said I wasn't going to do it again, and I was really just going to rock the forehead lines – but I didn't. "I wanted to try Botox again, and you won't believe my luck. Honestly, I could weep! I'm so sad, I'm literally so sad." 8 Zoe then lifted her sunglasses to reveal the aftermath of the procedure, showing her left eye significantly drooping compared to her right – a repeat of what happened the first time. She explained that she had returned to the same clinic that had administered her Botox in February, praising the aesthetician for being "so, so careful" in avoiding areas that could lead to ptosis (eyelid droop). However, this time, the outcome was even worse. Zoe shared: "It's actually worse than last time – my eye is now fully closed, pretty much." Reduce the risks of it happening to you Dr Aamer Khan, a leading cosmetic doctor and co-founder of Harley Street Skin Clinic, has weighed in on Zoe's experience, emphasising the importance of choosing clinics and practitioners wisely. Molly-Mae Hague's sister Zoe left 'weeping' after trying out Botox again - and the results are even WORSE than last time 'Zoe Rae's (née Hague's) experience is a reminder that even minimally invasive treatments like Botox can carry small risks,' he says. 'It highlights the importance of being fully informed before undergoing any cosmetic procedure.' Botox is widely used for cosmetic enhancements, particularly to reduce facial wrinkles. While generally safe, improper administration can lead to complications. The signs it could happen to you Improper injection technique: Botox being placed too close to the eyelid or incorrectly injected into the frontalis muscle of the forehead can result in drooping or heaviness in the upper eyelids. Migration of the toxin: In rare cases, Botox can spread to unintended areas, affecting nearby muscles like the levator palpebrae superioris, which lifts the upper eyelid. Over-relaxation of muscles: If the Botox over-relaxes the frontalis muscle, it can cause heaviness and a droopy appearance in the upper eyelids. Placement errors: Misplacement of Botox can lead to temporary paralysis of unintended muscles, causing eyelid droop. Repeated complications: If you've experienced similar issues in the past, as Zoe did, you may be at higher risk of it happening again. Lack of precision during administration: Botox requires careful placement and understanding of facial anatomy. Poor administration increases the risk of complications. Not choosing a qualified practitioner: Selecting someone without extensive experience and knowledge of facial anatomy can heighten the likelihood of complications. Failure to follow aftercare guidance: Not adhering to recommended aftercare instructions can increase the risk of side effects. In rare cases, the toxin can migrate and affect nearby muscles, resulting in eyelid ptosis, or drooping. Why it happens Dr Aamer further explains: 'Eyelid drooping occurs when Botox affects unintended muscles and spreads to the levator palpebrae superioris muscle, which lifts the upper eyelid. 'This can cause temporary paralysis, leading to drooping and typically happens when injections are placed too close to the eyelid or if the Botox migrates from the intended area. 'Further, injecting Botox into the frontalis muscle of the forehead must be done with precision. This muscle helps raise the eyebrows. 'If it is over-relaxed or the Botox is misplaced, it can lead to heaviness over the upper eyelids and a droopy appearance. 'This indicates an issue with injection technique or product placement." And Zoe isn't alone. Every since Botox went mainstream cases like hers keeps cropping up. Like with lifestyle blogger and TikTok star Whitney Buha. In 2021 Whitney, from Chicago, had regularly been having Botox injected around her eyes. But when she was having it topped her aesthetician made an error which caused her left eyelid to dramatically droop which she was left having to disguise under her hair. 8 8 What's the chance of it happening to you? Dr. Aamer Khan continues, 'while some data suggests this occurs in around 1% of cases, I can confidently say that, in over 25 years of clinical practice, I've not seen this complication among my patients. "I believe this reflects the importance of understanding facial anatomy and applying the product with care and accuracy.' 8 8 What to do if it does Although Botox-related complications are usually temporary and tend to resolve over time, they can still be highly distressing for patients, as Zoe's experience demonstrates. Dr Aamer adds: 'Given that she has reported repeated issues, I would recommend reassessing whether the practitioner is the right fit, if the treatment is suitable for her individual needs, or even exploring alternative options.' He also advises anyone experiencing similar symptom s to consult their practitioner promptly. 'For those like Zoe who experience ptosis, it's important to consult their practitioner promptly,' he says. 'Treatment options like alpha-adrenergic agonist eye drops (apraclonidine) can temporarily help elevate the eyelid. 'However, ptosis typically resolves itself as the effects of the toxin wear off and normal muscle function returns. 'Having chosen a medically qualified practitioner with a good working knowledge of facial anatomy and extensive experience in Botox treatments, it is important to discuss the potential risks and side effects during a consultation beforehand. 'Following the recommended aftercare guidance is also key to reducing the risk of complications and achieving the best possible outcome.' 8 Do's & Don'ts before and after Botox Dr. Aamer Khan reveals the do's and don'ts with Botox Do's Before Botox Consult a qualified practitioner with medical training and experience. Inform your practitioner about all medications, supplements, and medical conditions. Avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications (aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E) for 24–48 hours. Stay hydrated and have a light meal before your appointment. Ask questions about the procedure, expectations, and outcomes. Don'ts Before Botox Avoid retinol, glycolic acid, or exfoliants on treatment areas for 24 hours. Don't schedule within 2 weeks of major events to allow time for the treatment to work and any healing. needed, possible bruising, which can occur. Reschedule if you're feeling unwell (cold, infection, etc.). Try to avoid makeup on the day of treatment, unless it is mineral make up. Do's After Botox Gently move treated muscles (smile, frown) to help Botox settle. Stay upright for 4–6 hours post-treatment. Apply cold compresses gently to reduce swelling if there is any. Use mild, non-active skincare to keep skin clean and calm. Don'ts After Botox Do not lie down or bend over for at least 4–6 hours. Avoid touching or rubbing the injected area for 24 hours. Skip workouts and heat exposure (gym, saunas, hot yoga) for 24 hours. Don't apply makeup or active skincare for at least 12–24 hours. Avoid alcohol and blood thinners for 24 hours post-treatment. For any concerns post-treatment, always contact your provider directly. Mild redness, swelling, or bruising is common and usually subsides within a few days.
