Mollie King shares realities of 'less glamorous life' of being mother of two

Former The Saturdays singer Mollie King opened up about what it's really like juggling fame while being a mother of two Mollie King has swapped the red carpet for sleeping on the nursery carpet now she is a mum of two. The former The Saturdays singer gave birth to second daughter Liliana in December – and returned last month to her afternoon Radio 1 presenting slot. Mollie, 38 – engaged to ex-England cricketer Stuart Broad – revealed: 'Life's a lot less glamorous when you're a mum of two. 'I was laughing with Stuart after [last month's] Baftas. I went from walking the red carpet, to sleeping on my daughter's carpet. I missed the afterparty and came home. She couldn't sleep so I was sleeping on the floor in her bedroom while she was in her cot. ‌ ‌ 'I'd managed to get out of my dress but my hair and make-up was still glammed up. You don't realise how much your parents did for you until you're a parent yourself.' Mollie and Stuart, 38, had Liliana just before Christmas, giving a sister to Annabella, two. Mollie, who has hosted Radio 1's Monday to Thursday early afternoon slot with Matt Edmondson for the past year, said of her return to work: 'It's such a tough one because I adore being at home with the girls. 'But I also love being on the radio doing a job I love with Matt, who's one of my best friends. The hardest thing is missing the girls and coping being away from them. 'But Stuart and I juggle it between us. We're a bit of a tag team – he works most weekends and I work Monday to Thursday, so it's a bit 'one in, one out'." ‌ Mollie added: "But Annabella is brilliant, which makes things easier. I was worried she'd feel pushed aside but she's been amazing. She's very affectionate and protective over her already.' Mollie had 13 top 10 hits with girl group The Saturdays, who went on hiatus in 2014 after a seven-year run. Last year she raised more than £1.3million for Red Nose Day with her 310-mile Pedal Power bike ride. ‌ She cycled in memory of her dad Stephen, who died of a brain tumour 10 days after Annabella was born. Mollie said of working through her grief: 'I don't think you ever get over it. It's been hard knowing he's missed out on another granddaughter. 'When I had my little one, I felt such mixed feelings. I wish he'd known her. But I also know he's still with me.'

A Pedro Pascal lookalike contest is coming to the LES, and you could get a free year of burritos if you win

Remember the Timothée Chalamet look-alike competition that launched 1,000 ships? It all started late last year with a simple flyer posted around the city: If you look like the Dune actor, show up in Washington Square Park in your best get-up and win $50. What resulted was several hundreds of onlookers crowding the square, armed with cameras and make-shift posters of their phone numbers. But as the real actor made a surprise cameo, this flash-in-the-pan event quickly spurred copycats. Within weeks, more look-alike-contest started to pop off around the city. In November, a handful of blue-eyed and blue-aproned individuals showed up to the same square for a Jeremy Allen White contest, while the Zayn Malik look-alike competition in Bushwick grabbed the attention of more than 500 people. And while the winners receive a buzz of notoriety and a bump of Instagram followers, the top prize is often paltry, $50 here or a free tattoo there (unless you went to the Drake look-a-like competition in Toronto, where the rapper himself gave the winner $10,000). However, this up-and-coming look-alike competition is here to take the cake, er, tortilla: the winner gets a year of free burritos. Even better, the restaurant is calling all New Yorkers who bear a resemblance to the current zaddy of the internet. To celebrate the first anniversary of Son Del North, the Lower East Side restaurant is hosting a look-alike competition searching for twins of the one and only Pedro Pascal. Held on Sunday, June 15th from 12:30pm to 2pm, the resto is inviting the most dashing among us to dress up like the popular actor, whether it's the lone bounty hunter version from The Mandalorian, the gritty, apocalyptic Pascal from The Last of Us, or simply Pedro as the cleaned-up, red-carpet charmer. Judging will be based on crowd reaction, while the final decision will be up to the Son del North team. The top doppelganger will receive the ultimate prize: $50 cash and one year of free burritos, a limit of one per week. The second- and third-place winners will receive gift cards ($50 and $25, respectively), while the top ten finalists will win free bean and cheese burritos. The downtown eatery will be hosting events all weekend long leading up to the contest, including $1 burritos for the first 200 people on Friday, June 13th, and giveaways of free chips and salsa, agua fresca andor zaddy of the month, make a plan for Sunday.

The hot rodent boyfriend is officially dead – and I'm in mourning

And just like that, the rodents are all dead. Traps were successfully laid and poison was sufficiently digested. As a result, they've been completely wiped out, leaving nothing but droppings in their trace. I'm not talking about actual rats, by the way. The rodents in question are male, human and what you might refer to as untraditionally handsome. And, frankly, I'm mourning their loss. To those who missed last summer's 'hot rodent boyfriend' trend, allow me to provide some crucial context. Like most internet trends, it started deep within TikTok 's agenda-setting universe and quickly became a global talking point. All because someone somewhere decided that all of Hollywood 's hottest men had an edge to them that looked a bit on the ratty side. First, it was The Bear 's Jeremy Allen White. Then it was Barry Keoghan. Josh O'Connor. Not even perennial pinup Timothée Chalamet was safe from being included. All of these men had aesthetic idiosyncrasies that categorised them as sexy vermin. As one TikTok user described it: 'The 'hot rodent boyfriend' is essentially a hot guy, but he's skinny, scrawny, a little weird-looking… but hot. Kind of grimy, for lack of a better word.' Let me stop you before you get carried away in a confused Ratatouille haze because, as I said, the hot rodent boyfriend is dead. At least, that was the memo delivered by the latest issue of GQ, whose cover star is a brooding, leather-clad Brad Pitt, 61, representing the classic Hollywood hunk in all his alpha-male glory. Accompanied by a short video posted on social media showing Pitt riding a motorbike through the mountains and lying on a chaise longue in a grease-stained T-shirt, muscular arms and chest on full display, the cover portrays a type of old-school masculinity that is very much in direct opposition to the hot rodent boyfriend: it's like Brad Pitt v Johnny Depp in the Nineties' battle of the teen bedroom posters all over again. Obviously, this more classic look is going to appeal to a lot of people – GQ's Instagram posts of Pitt have elicited thousands of comments from fans. Crucially, it's one that always comes back into favour during times of economic and political turmoil. But it doesn't appeal to me. Like many of the women I know, I am a hot rodent boyfriend girl to my core. Perhaps it's the way that their attractiveness relies on their unconventional beauty; the fact that they don't necessarily conform to archetypes of what society typically considers attractive. They look individual, rather than straight off a gym-to-sunbed pipeline. They offer something different. It also helps that Hollywood's hot rodent boyfriends are closer to my age (31), with many of them in their early 30s. Not that age gets in the way of the internet's current boyfriend, the elder statesmen of hot rodent boyfriends, Pedro Pascal (50). It's a vibe that's inherently more mysterious and seductive. Conversations around male beauty standards are always fascinating, not least because of how much they differ from those around women. The latter are so shamefully narrow that there's almost no space for anything other than one mainstream aesthetic that some women will go to great lengths to achieve, whether that's through intensive exercise, cosmetic 'tweakments' or full-on plastic surgery. Despite all our other societal progressions, little movement seems to be happening in this area. Women aren't allowed to look too old, overweight or scruffy, and be in the public eye. We can't dress too modestly without being labelled prim or flash too much flesh without being slut-shamed. Meanwhile, men can be nicknamed 'rodents' (said with love, I promise) and still be considered gorgeous. I realise I'm part of the problem here. But if ever there was a trend for 'hot frog man', I'd probably like that one too (mmm, such soulful eyes). For now, in a toss-up between the tribal alpha males and the individualistic hot rodent boyfriends, I know which side I'm on.
