Cole Palmer admits Champions League winners' medal means nothing to him and he ‘doesn't feel like he won it'
COLE PALMER is already a Champions League winner. But to the ambitious young star, the medal he picked up as a non-playing substitute in Advertisement 8 Cole Palmer won the Champions League win Man City in 2023 Credit: Alamy During what turned out to be his final season at City, he made his only start in the competition in a dead rubber group game against For the rest of the campaign, including the final in Istanbul, he sat on the bench as a no doubt frustrated observer. Palmer, now 23, said: 'I always say, I don't feel like a Champions League winner, if I'm being honest. 'It doesn't really mean anything to me. I've still got it, but it's not like I feel like I've won it.' Palmer thoroughly earned the winner's medal he received for Chelsea's Conference League triumph last month. It was a timely return of the Because after picking up where he had left off in his stunning debut season for the Blues, scoring and creating goals for fun, the second half of the 2024/5 campaign was a tough one. Advertisement As the run of games without a goal or even an assist grew longer and longer, it looked like Palmer was feeling the pressure. His spectacular transformation from City youth player to Chelsea' main man created expectation, and he was not living up to it. Even the famously cool young man was just a little concerned. Palmer said: "I know myself players will go through it. I'm not stupid. Advertisement Which feels even stranger because he is one of only four England players to have scored a goal in a major final. For most of Euro 2024, Three Lions fans were crying out for Palmer to be given more of a chance to inject some life into Gareth Southgate's struggling team. And when he was brought on in the final against Palmer recalled: 'An occasion like that if you think about it, it might get the better of you. So I just try not to. Two lads 'hid in toilet for 27 hours' to sneak in to Champions League final
Two Belgian men said that they hid in a toilet for over a day to sneak into the Champions League final for free. PSG beat Inter Milan in a 5-0 blowout to finally win the prestigious tournament, with 19-year-old Désiré Doué putting on a star performance with two goals and one assist. While tickets to the final were like gold dust, Belgians Neal Remmerie and Senne Haverbeke managed to sneak in via unorthodox means — sneaking into Munich's Allianz Arena the day before the final and hiding in a toilet for 27 hours, emerging when the match kicked off. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Neal & Senne (@neal_senne) Sharing the video on TikTok, the lads explained that they used a handmade 'out of order' sign to deter the stadium's workers from checking for them, but added that the wait for the match was rougher than expected. 'We had a backpack with snacks and we played around on our phones to kill time,' Neal told Belgian broadcaster VRT News. 'The lights were on all the time, and the sitting position was uncomfortable, so sleeping was almost impossible. That made it physically and mentally difficult.' The lads then heard fans using the toilets, which they saw as their cue to head to their 'seats' for the match — saying that they went through a separate ticket check before heading to the seats. Pic: Neal & Senne/Instagram 'We looked carefully at which security guard was paying the least attention,' Neal explained. 'While on the phone and with food in our hands, we just walked on, and suddenly we were inside.' Thankfully for the pair, they got in undetected and chose their seats wisely, as they ended up in the stands with PSG supporters. 'PSG won 5-0 and we were also in the supporters' section of the winning team. It was the most beautiful football match we've ever seen.' PSG won the final with a massive 5-0 win over Inter Milan. Pic:Achraf Hakimi and Désiré Doué opened up the scoring for PSG on Saturday, with the Parisians going 2-0 up heading into half time. Anyone who was looking for a competitive second half from Internazionale were left sorely disappointed, with Doué, Khvicha Kvaratshkelia and Senny Mayulu putting three more over the line for an emphatic 5-0 win.
