Foreigner singer Kelly Hansen steps down
Foreigner frontman Kelly Hansen is stepping down.
The singer has fronted the band since 2005, but he's now revealed he will be walking away from the group and passing vocal duties to guitarist Luis Maldonado because he has "the voice, the energy, and the soul" to continue in his place.
The band announced the line-up change during a performance on TV show 'The Voice' on Tuesday (20.05.25), with Hansen saying in a statement: 'Being the voice of Foreigner has been one of the greatest honors of my life.
"But it's time to pass the mic. Luis has the voice, the energy, and the soul to carry these songs into the future. I couldn't be prouder to hand this off to him."
The band has undergone a number of line-up changes over the years and guitarist Mick Jones is currently the only original member of the group remaning.
Jones added in a statement: "In 1976, my goal was to assemble the finest group of musicians I could find. Results have shown that it worked!
"About 30 years later, [drummer] Jason Bonham encouraged me to do it all over again and create a brand-new Foreigner, and the magic was still there.
"I was especially fortunate in the choice of lead singer. Kelly Hansen is one of the best front men in our business and over the last 20 years he has breathed new life into our songs ...
"I wish Kelly great happiness in his next endeavors after our summer tour, and I look forward to welcoming Luis to his new position.
"Luis was my choice as a guitarist and he has already shown us what he can do on lead vocals by fronting the band in South America to incredible reviews. He will soon lead the charge that will carry us forward to new heights."
Hansen took over singing duties from original frontman Lou Gramm, who recently admitted the band's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year forced him to "let go" of some of the issues he had with the group.
Speaking to Billboard, Gramm explained: "Ever since [the induction] it felt like, personally, I had to find a way to let go of some of the things I've been holding onto for years - and, like the song says, let it be. It's a hackneyed sentiment, but it's true - life's too short."

As a Swiftie myself, and I think I can speak for [co-star] Yvonne [Strahovski] and our entire cast as well, who are all Swifties, it's such an honor to be able to use her music in the final episodes of our show." The Handmaid's Tale editor Wendy Hallam Martin added to the publication:"In trying many songs for this specific moment in our series and knowing how much Lizzie [Moss] wanted a strong female voice and message, Taylor was really the artist that delivered both lyrically and tonally. "Our badass main character June in this scene, really was saying 'Look what you made me do' and the song couldn't have been more on point. "A perfect pairing. When I laid the song up against the scene, it just landed perfectly thematically, rhythmically and magically hit all the edit points which sometimes happens if it's meant to be. 'The show is not being cancelled': Seven denies Sonia Kruger in trouble after debunking reports Dancing With The Stars not renewed
Channel 7 has publicly denied reports that Dancing With The Stars Australia will not be renewed after speculation the cancellation could impact the show's hosts Sonia Kruger and Dr Chris Brown. Dancing With The Stars is set to return to Channel 7 next week with 12 popular Australian celebrities set to tackle the foxtrot. Kruger, 59, is reportedly under contract with Seven for over $1 million a year and currently hosts The Voice and Dancing With The Stars. The TV star, who began her career as a ballroom dancer and appeared in the iconic film Strictly Ballroom, has been closely associated with the dance series since it first aired on Seven in 2004. However, the TV star could soon be down to just one gig at Seven amid reports the upcoming season of the long-running dance competition series will be its last. A TV insider who spoke to claimed Seven was 'tipped to axe' Dancing With The Stars because the show is too expensive to produce. Seven's decision to 'revive' the show in 2021 was reportedly at the centre of contract negotiations to woo Kruger back from Channel 9. The contract, which made Kruger one of the highest-paid women in Aussie TV, also included gigs on the now-cancelled Holey Moley and Big Brother. If true, Kruger will be down to just her hosting duties on The Voice to justify her seven figure salary, a rarity in the industry amid a massive drop in viewers and advertising revenue in free-to-air. In a statement to the Daily Mail, Seven debunked reports that Dancing With The Stars will not return to screens in 2026 and insisted 'the show is not being cancelled'. Nine gave Kruger her first on-air presenting role on the series Wonder World! in the 1990s before she moved over to Seven to work as an entertainment reporter. In 2011, Kruger joined Nine for the second time where she hosted the morning program Mornings alongside David Campbell and its successor Today Extra, as well as Big Brother and The Voice. Kruger was rehired by Seven in 2019 by then-CEO James Warburton, who she infamously called 'God' in her Gold Logie acceptance speech. Barry Manilow heartbroken by Billy Joel's health crisis
Barry Manilow's heart "broke" when he heard about Billy Joel's health crisis. The veteran musician was forced to cancel all of his tour dates for the rest of the year after he was diagnosed with a rare brain condition called Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH), which is caused by a build-up of fluid in the brain, and now Manilow has admitted he feels terrible about seeing the Piano Man go through such a tough time. He told Billboard: "Oh, it's so horrible, so horrible. It just broke my heart when I heard about Billy Joel. I'm such a fan of his work. I really hope he's able to get back to it." Manilow went on to admit there aren't many of his contemporaries still performing. He said: "It's like: 'What? Am I the only one left?' It's Billy Joel, and Elton [John] is not well and Rod [Stewart] and Neil [Diamond]. Diana Ross is still in great shape, I think. "There must be only a handful of people in my world that are still there. "I'm still healthy. I'm strong and I've still got my voice and my energy. Joel recently axed all of his tour dates - including 17 dates in North America and England - but reports suggest he has no plans to retire despite the diagnosis. Announcing the news on social media, a statement from Joel's team read: "Billy Joel has announced that he will be cancelling all scheduled concerts following a recent diagnosis of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH). This condition has been exacerbated by recent concert performances, leading to problems with hearing, vision and balance. "Under his doctor's instructions, Billy is undergoing physical therapy and has been advised to refrain from performing during this recovery period. Billy is thankful for the excellent care he is receiving and is fully committed to prioritising his health. "He is grateful for the support from fans during this time and looks forward to the day when he can once again take the stage." Billy added his own message to fans, saying: "I'm sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience, and thank you for understanding."
