Cheltenham Festival LIVE: Latest news with fields for Day 2 races revealed
The Cheltenham Festival is back. It's that time of year again when the sporting world turns its eyes on horse racing as the best jockeys, trainers and horses prepare for four days of intense and gruelling competition.
The festival starts with Champion Day on Tuesday 11 before Style Wednesday, St Patrick's Thursday, and Gold Cup Day bringing the event to a close on Friday this week.
Willie Mullins' Galopin Des Champs took the honours last year and, with jockey Paul Townend, won the Gold Cup for a second consecutive year. He's the overwhelming favourite to do so again this week but a late addition to the field may throw a spanner in the works. [CONFIRM Inothewayurthinkin has been added to Gold Cup race]

In the early news surrounding the confirmed runners and riders, Lossiemouth will avoid a mouthwatering showdown with Constitution Hill and Brighterdaysahead in Tuesday's Unibet Champion Hurdle by racing the Close Brothers Mares' Hurdle on the same day instead.
Lossiemouth has made the late switch despite appearing to target the Champion Hurdle trail, after banking wins last year in the Mares' Hurdle and the Triumph Hurdle in 2023.
Willie Mullins' decision appears to have been influenced by the preparation, which saw a heavy fall in the Irish Champion Hurdle in February, with the move to defend the Close Brothers Mares' Hurdle title.

Will coach Mauricio Pochettino's US men's national team figure it out in time for next year's World Cup?
But first, there is the matter of the Gold Cup. The US will take a four-match losing streak (longest since 2007) into the opener against Trinidad and Tobago in San Jose, Calif., on Sunday. Again, the Americans will be deprived of the Serie A quartet — Weston McKennie and Tim Weah (Juventus) and Yunus Musah and Christian Pulisic (Milan). But even their experience did not prove to make a difference in defeats to Panama and Canada in the Nations League in Los Angeles in March. Advertisement 'The players are motivated, and maybe we can win the Gold Cup and arrive at the World Cup and do well,' Pochettino said. 'This is not going to have a massive impact on our emotions. We are going to be ready, I am not worried about that.' Advertisement Yet the real challenge for the US, 'A' team or otherwise, will be in the World Cup, when it is again faced with European competition. The US has not defeated a Euro foe in eight games (0-6-2) since taking a 1-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina in a Dec. 18, 2021, friendly in Carson, Calif. As for World Cup matches against Euro competition, the US has compiled a 3-14-7 mark, with only one victory since 1950. The US actually won its first two World Cup games against European countries — Belgium (3-0) in 1930 and England (1-0) in 1950. Since then, the only World Cup win over a Euro foe was a 3-2 decision over Portugal in 2002, when the Bruce Arena-coached US squad made it to the quarterfinals. Related : Playing in the CONCACAF region limits options for national team competition. But there is no reason to lag behind in player development. Switzerland, too, was going young, and Johan Manzambi, 19, did not seem to have a problem making an impact in his international debut in a recent 4-2 win over Mexico. Before the Switzerland game, Pochettino said he wanted his players to fight 'like wolves or lions.' But it is difficult to impose yourself physically on a group as technical as the Swiss. The US seldom could get close enough to make a hard tackle, at least not until second-half stoppage time, when Patrick Agyemang and Johnny Cardoso were cautioned. What Pochettino might not have realized is the US lacks tactical and technical sophistication, weaknesses exposed when facing European foes. Top-level competitors would have been expected to recognize alignment flaws and adjusted to the advances on the wings of Manzambi and Dan Ndoye, who both scored goals. But it wasn't until the second half that the US began limiting Manzambi and Ndoye, only after Pochettino added an extra defender. Advertisement As for the attack, Pochettino has work to do. The US, like many teams, is committed to high-pressing, mostly for the sake of attempting to create offense. The problem is, if the press is not working, there is little to fall back on. And the better European opposition is not easily knocked off its game by pressing tactics. So, there is only so much Pochettino can do, besides getting his players to chase around with ferocity. It is up to the players to figure out how vary the pace of the game, what to capitalize on, when to improvise. Pulisic and friends should provide solutions, once they return to the fold. But will they be enough to make a difference in the World Cup? Supporters are going to have to spend the next year wondering. Frank Dell'Apa can be reached at

Pub popular with horse racing community closes
A village pub that was a popular place of celebration among the horse racing community has closed. The Hollow Bottom in the Cotswold village of Guiting Power lies about ten miles (16km) east of from Cheltenham Racecourse and was a popular spot for celebrating Gold Cup wins and yard successes. Jo Collinson, a groom who formerly worked for trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies, said the pub's atmosphere was "just as amazing as Gold Cup day itself" when Imperial Commander, who she looked after, brought home the trophy in 2010. A spokesperson for Young's, which owns the Hollow Bottom, said it was closing after "a careful review of our plans" before the lease ended. More news stories for Gloucestershire Listen to the latest news for Gloucestershire The Hollow Bottom previously closed in 2019 and was purchased and reopened by the Lucky Onion, a hospitality group owned by Julian Dunkerton, the founder of Superdry. Young's bought it in 2022. They announced that the pub was closing on Sunday. "We would like to thank the local community for their support over the last five years. We will be in contact directly with any customers who have future bookings with the pub." Now a groom for Jonjo O'Neill, Ms Collinson said "every Christmas party and many birthday celebrations" were spent at the Hollow Bottom when she worked for Twiston-Davies, who is based in nearby Naunton. Ms Collinson said she helped take three winning horses, including Imperial Commander down to the "absolutely heaving" Hollow Bottom on Gold Cup Day 2010. "There were people on the flat roof above the door, the cars couldn't get through on the road, it was amazing. "It was like leading him back in on the racecourse all over again... We piled down the Hollow Bottom to celebrate it for days." Ms Collinson said the pub was "wild" after every meet, regardless of the time of year. "A piece of my heart will always be at the Hollow Bottom, when we celebrated winners and had those Christmas parties there and had a lot of fun with the best friends," she said. "It was the best times and I'll never forget them." Follow BBC Gloucestershire on Facebook, X and Instagram. Send your story ideas to us on email or via WhatsApp on 0800 313 4630.
