Some US residents need $100K salary to afford rent: here's what you need in Denver
DENVER (KDVR) — A new Zillow report found that some residents across the United States need to make over six figures to be able to afford rent.
The report looked into how much residents need to earn to afford rent in several cities across the country, which is about 30% of a renter's income. The report found renters need to make above six figures to comfortably afford rent in eight major markets, including areas in California, Boston, New York City and Miami.

Luckily, Denver's not on that list, but it's also not too far off.
Nationwide, Zillow said the salary to afford rent is up $20,000 since pre-pandemic. To afford typical rent five years ago, residents would need to make $60,000, and now, people need to earn more than $80,000.

Denver residents need a little less than an $80,000 salary to afford rent, which is slightly lower than the national average.
While Denver isn't listed as a six-figure city, other reports have said people need to make at least $100,000 to live comfortably. SmartAsset released a study reporting that residents needed at least $108,992 to live comfortably as a single adult in Denver.

SUNBURY, Pa., June 6, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Weis Markets, Inc. (the "Company") announced effective June 6, 2025 that it has purchased in a private transaction 2,153,846 shares (the "Shares") of the Company's Common Stock, no par value ("Common Stock") for an aggregate purchase price of $140,000,000, or approximately $65.00 per share, pursuant to a Share Purchase Agreement (the "Purchase Agreement") among the trustees of The Patricia R. Weis Marital Trust and The Patricia G. Ross Weis Revocable Trust (collectively, the "Sellers") and the Company. The Sellers are affiliated with Jonathan H. Weis, the Chairman, President, and CEO of the Company, and other members of the Weis family (collectively, the "Weis Family"). The Sellers will use the proceeds from the sale principally to satisfy estate tax obligations of the estate of Patricia R. Weis. Following the sale, the Sellers continue to own 4,051,383 shares of Common Stock, and members of the Weis Family remain owners of approximately 61% of the outstanding Common Stock.
