Google Search 'I'm Feeling Lucky' Could Give Way For New AI Mode: Know More
Last Updated:
Google Search has offered the same interface to users for decades but the AI era is going to make a big change soon.
Google is making changes to its famous search page by testing a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) feature that might replace the I'm Feeling Lucky button. For many years, this button has taken users straight to a top website related to their search without showing the usual list of results. Now, the tech giant is testing AI Mode to make searching smarter and faster.
Some users have already noticed two different designs for this new feature on the Google homepage. In one version, the I'm Feeling Lucky button is completely replaced by the AI Mode button. In another version, the AI Mode is added as a small shortcut right inside the search bar, while the original buttons stay below it.
In a conversation with The Verge, Google spokesperson Ashley Thompson confirmed that the new feature is real. However, she explained that it is only available to users who are part of Google's experimental Labs program for now. She said, 'We often test different ways for people to access our helpful features. This is just one of many experiments."
As per Google, 'With the AI Mode experiment in Google Search, you can ask anything and get a helpful AI-powered response with the ability to explore further with follow-up questions and helpful web links."
'This experience is particularly helpful for queries where deeper exploration, reasoning, or comparisons are needed. This experiment relies on Google Search's deep understanding of web information, meaning that responses are supported by high-quality web sources to improve factuality."
'As with any early-stage AI product, AI Mode doesn't always get it right. For example, in some cases, this experiment may misinterpret web content or miss context, as can happen with any automated system in Search. When this does happen, we encourage you to give feedback through thumbs up / thumbs down so we can continuously improve," the team added.
Explaining how people can use the new AI Mode, Google mentioned that users can type, speak or even upload pictures to ask questions and they'll get answers powered by AI. If they want to know more about the same topic, they can keep asking related questions without starting over.
The mode also helps users learn more deeply by pulling information from different websites. Another helpful feature is that it remembers past questions, so users can continue where they stopped earlier.
We still don't know when Google will fully make the move the AI Mode. But knowing its history, Google could play it safe by keeping both the options on the table so that people who like the old version can continue doing so.

But today, search itself is changing — fast. ChatGPT reached 365 billion annual searches just two years after launch. In comparison, Google took 11 years to reach the same volume. AI tools are reshaping how billions find information, bypassing links and delivering direct answers. That's great for users but what about publishers, businesses, and even Google itself? Is this the beginning of the end for Google? Or will it adapt in time? Palki Sharma tells you. See More

Google just dropped a whole diamond district in Roblox, and it's giving VIP energy
The tech gods have spoken—and they are wearing diamond-studded headphones. Google Play just launched its first-ever immersive Roblox experience, and yes, it is called the Diamond District. This glitter-filled virtual zone is serving real VIP energy and is exclusively available from now until July 2. Google drops a digital flex in Roblox Tied directly to Google's Play Points rewards programme, the Diamond District lets users link their Play Points accounts and unlock an entire world of perks. We are talking obstacle courses, shiny loot, wild mini-games, and a literal vault for Platinum, Gold and Diamond-tier users. Because why just play Roblox when you can play it in style? This Roblox takeover is more than just a pretty pixel. Google Play is clearly levelling up, blending its rewards system with one of the most popular digital playgrounds on Earth. According to Jackie Titus, Google Play's director of activations and engagement, the idea was to evolve their rewards programme into something bigger, more exciting, and globally interactive. Titus shared that after last year's success with Play Points, the team wanted to go even deeper. Roblox made perfect sense—it is where their users already are, and now it is where their loyalty gets rewarded. Digital drip and real-life rewards Inside the Diamond District, members can snag exclusive digital items, like gliders and headphones, all sparkling with that signature Play diamond flair. But wait—there is actual, physical merch too. We are talking a custom Google Play x Backbone One controller and a limited-edition gift box. And for those who love chaos and education? Duolingo's iconic green owl is crashing the party as a plushie giveaway. Titus explained that they wanted to bridge the gap between the digital and real worlds, offering tangible items to make the Roblox experience even more memorable. Built by the community, for the community Apparently, this Roblox realm was not just a plug-and-play project. Titus revealed the creative process began all the way back in January, with hands-on workshops, testing sessions, and custom builds. From the jump, the focus was on creating something that genuinely delighted Play Points users. If this is the future of loyalty programmes, sign us up, link the accounts, and hand us a glider.

Indian Railways To Make Aadhaar Linking Mandatory For Tatkal Booking To Ensure Fairness
The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will make it mandatory for users to link their Aadhaar numbers and login IDs while booking train tickets under the Tatkal quota in order to make the process fair and glitch-free. The move will bar people from booking multiple Tatkal tickets simultaneously, which affects genuine users. "Indian Railways will soon start using e-Aadhaar authentication to book Tatkal tickets. This will help genuine users get confirmed tickets during need," Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently said on X. Bharatiya Railways will soon start using e-Aadhaar authentication to book Tatkal tickets. This will help genuine users get confirmed tickets during need. — Ashwini Vaishnaw (@AshwiniVaishnaw) June 4, 2025 "The Ministry of Railways, Railway Board, hereby notifies that the Centre for Railway Information System (CRIS) be allowed to perform Aadhaar authentication, on a voluntary basis, to establish the identity of ticket-checking staff, crew members and passengers, using Yes/No or eKYC authentication facility," noted a Gazette notification dated May 27, 2025. An IRCTC official told PTI recently that the Indian Railway has deployed Artificial Intelligence-based advanced technical solutions to curb unauthorised ticketing practices. The system detects and deactivates such user IDs before they can disrupt the booking system. As per the news agency, the move is already making progress as the creation of new user IDs on the IRCTC platform dropped from 60,000 to 65,000 per day to just 10,000 to 12,000. IRCTC has also blocked 35 million fraudulent user IDs, the official said. "Let's presume that a person named A approaches an unauthorised agent to get a ticket booked from Delhi to Agra. The agent will use several disposable email IDs (using domain names available on Google) and mobile numbers to create, let's say, 30 profiles on the IRCTC platform," the officials told PTI while explaining the process. The email ID becomes invalid, the profile, however, remains after authentication, which is used by unauthorised agents to book a ticket for a person. Hence, the agents have 30 attempts to book a ticket for that one person. Public outcry over Tatkal booking issues Several people have raised issues they face while booking the Tatkal tickets from the IRCTC website, with most recently Dr A. Velumani, the founder of Thyrocare, calling it "betrayal". Dr Velumani shared a viral image on his X account, which noted, "Tatkal booking on IRCTC has become a joke. Seats show available, but the moment it turns 10 AM, the site hangs. By 10:03, all seats are gone - even in remote routes. And then at 10:04, the site suddenly becomes smooth again, as if nothing happened."
