AI Executive Declares People 'Should Be Worried' About Losing Jobs to AI: Government Needs to 'Stop Sugar-Coating' It
The CEO of an artificial intelligence company declared that people "should be worried" about losing their jobs to AI.
Dario Amodei, the CEO of Anthropic, insisted that the government needs to "stop sugar-coating" the threat AI poses to white-collar jobs, which he said could be cut by up to half in an interview with Axios .
"We, as the producers of this technology, have a duty and an obligation to be honest about what is coming," he told the outlet. "It's a very strange set of dynamics, where we're saying: 'You should be worried about where the technology we're building is going.'"
The executive paired the downsides of the technology with other potential benefits though. Although unemployment could reach the double digits, he contrasted that with his belief that AI has the ability to help scientists cure cancer or help businessmen grow the economy.
Although other AI executives have spoken privately about the repercussions of their technology, Amodei marks one of the first to speak publicly about what some may view as a threat to their way of life, Axios noted.
Steve Bannon, a former adviser from President Donald Trump's first term, told the outlet he believes AI will become a major talking point for the 2028 election, warning that "entry-level jobs that are so important in your 20s are going to be eviscerated."
Several American tech companies, including Google and Apple, have begun rapidly expanding their AI capabilities in addition to AI-focused companies, such as OpenAI. Meanwhile, major employers like Microsoft and Walmart recently announced hundreds of layoffs as they focus on restructuring.

Elon Musk Asks If It's Time for New Political Party Amid Feud With Donald Trump
Elon Musk has once again stirred political debate in the United States, this time by hinting at the creation of a new political party. The billionaire's move comes amid an escalating public feud with US President Donald Trump, raising questions about Musk's political ambitions and his influence over the American right. Elon Musk Posts Viral Poll on X On Friday, 6 June 2025, Musk posted a poll on his official X account asking: 'Is it time to create a new political party in America that actually represents the 80% in the middle?' Is it time to create a new political party in America that actually represents the 80% in the middle? — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) June 5, 2025 The post quickly went viral, attracting over 89.4 million views and more than 5.6 million votes. At the time of writing, around 80.4% of respondents agreed that the United States needs a new party to represent the political centre, while 19.6% opposed the idea. Though the post did not mention Trump directly, the timing of the poll coincides with rising tensions between the Tesla boss and the US President. From Allies to Rivals: The Musk–Trump Breakdown Musk and Trump once maintained a close relationship, especially during Trump's campaign for a second term. Upon returning to the White House, Trump appointed Musk as a special government employee in a department ironically named the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE. But the relationship has since soured. On Wednesday, 4 June, Musk was dismissed from his advisory role following repeated public criticisms of Trump's legislative agenda. In response, Musk took to X, claiming that Trump would not have won the election without his support. 'Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51–49 in the Senate,' Musk wrote. Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate. — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) June 5, 2025 Trump, speaking to media, appeared to accept that the relationship had collapsed. 'Elon and I had a great relationship,' Trump said via NDTV. 'I don't know if we will anymore. I'm very disappointed in Elon. I've helped Elon a lot,' he added. Is Elon Musk Running for President? Despite the speculation, Musk has made no official statement about running for office. His recent poll and political commentary have reignited public interest, but the billionaire is legally ineligible to run for president. US law requires that presidential candidates be natural-born citizens. Musk, who was born in South Africa and became a US citizen in 2002, does not meet this requirement. However, this hasn't stopped his name from circulating in political circles. In 2024, several Democratic lawmakers labelled Musk the 'de facto' leader of the Republican Party, highlighting his growing influence over American politics and policy. What's Next for Musk in US Politics? Whether or not Musk intends to form a new party, his latest post signals a push to redefine political discourse. His call to represent the 'middle 80 percent' taps into widespread frustration with the polarised state of US politics. While a presidential bid remains off the table, Musk's political influence—fueled by his online reach, business empire, and media presence—continues to grow. With the 2028 election on the horizon, both Republicans and Democrats are likely to keep a close eye on his next move. Originally published on IBTimes UK

ICE Detained US Marshal Who Matched the 'General Description' of Person of Interest Inside Arizona Immigration Court
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents detained a deputy U.S. marshal inside the home of Arizona's immigration court after they matched the "general description" of a person of interest agents were looking for. "A Deputy US Marshal who fit the general description of a subject being sought by ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) was briefly detained at a federal building in Tucson after entering the lobby of the building," the U.S. Marshals Service said in a statement obtained by the Arizona Daily Star. "The Deputy US Marshal's identity was quickly confirmed by other law enforcement officers, and he exited the building without incident," the statement continued. The incident reportedly took place in late May, sources told the Daily Star. The building the marshal was detained at both houses deputy U.S. marshals and the state's immigration court. ICE agents have begun turning to immigration courts across the country as spots to detain migrants they accuse of being in the country illegally. However, this incident has caused concern among legal experts as U.S. marshals work for the federal government. "It begs the question of what other situations are happening, what else aren't we hearing about regular people in the community getting mistakenly picked up?" Noah Schramm, a policy strategist with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Arizona, told the outlet. ICE has come under fire several times over the past few months after accidentally detaining American citizens and people in the country legally. One Maryland man, Kilmar Abrego Garcia, made national headlines after he was mistakenly sent to a mega prison in El Salvador. The increase in detainments across the country came as part of President Donald Trump's campaign promise for "mass deportations." Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem and Trump adviser Stephen Miller reportedly directed immigration officials to aim for 3,000 arrests per day. This past Tuesday alone, more than 2,200 individuals were detained. ICE has not publicly addressed the incident and the deputy marshal involved has not been identified.
