Firefighters tackle caravan blaze near major road
Firefighters were called to a blaze involving several caravans near a major road.
It broke out near the Sadlers Farm roundabout, Bowers Gifford, Basildon, at about 20:26 GMT on Tuesday.
A spokesperson for Essex Fire Service said it had received over 45 calls because of the "significant" amount of smoke and the proximity of the incident to the A13.
The fire was put out by 22:20. An fire investigation will begin when it is safe to do so.
There were no reported injuries. Firefighters will remain on scene to make sure the area is cool.

Delayed road scheme on track to open next spring
Highways officials say they are "very confident" a major roadworks scheme in Hull city centre will open next spring. In December, National Highways announced the A63 Castle Street project had been delayed by a year due to "extremely challenging ground conditions". Work had originally been due to be completed by spring 2025. Project manager Frances Oliver apologised for the delays, but said the scheme was on track to be completed by the revised date. Ms Oliver said: "It's a really technical scheme and there are lots of different elements. "There is really large element of technical design to overcome the ground conditions and, as part of that, we've had to do some slight tweaks to the design," she said. "We are really disappointed and we apologise for the delays - we all want to get this scheme finished." In response to a question about congestion, she said they had made some tweaks to traffic control measures as a result of customer feedback and were working with the city council to monitor the situation. For the majority of the time, she said there were two lanes of traffic running in each direction, with speed restrictions in place. When I visited the site in September, all seemed to be going well, with National Highways telling me the project would be finished by spring this year. But since it was announced in December that it would be delayed by a year I have been swamped with messages from people frustrated at having to sit in traffic jams every day. Highways bosses cited extremely challenging ground conditions near the Humber as the reason for the delay, but this is of little comfort to the thousands of motorists who use the local road network every day. Volvo Cars sales fall 12% in May
COPENHAGEN (Reuters) -Volvo Cars sold 59,822 cars in May, down 12% from a year earlier, the Sweden-based company said on Wednesday. Volvo Cars, which is majority-owned by China's Geely, said in a statement sales of fully electric cars fell 27% to account for 21% of total sales volumes. Sales of electrified cars as a whole, also including plug-in hybrids, were down 20% to account for 44% of total sales. The company did not provide detail on regional sales. Volvo Cars, under pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump's new tariffs, said last month it would cut 3,000 mostly white-collar jobs as it grapples with high costs, a slowdown in electric vehicle demand and trade uncertainty. Woman arrested after motorcyclist injured in crash
A woman has been arrested after a man was seriously injured in a crash between a motorbike and car in Shropshire. The hurt motorcyclist, in his 60s, was taken to hospital in Birmingham following the crash involving a Mini on Rushey Lane in Albrighton, near Wolverhampton, at about 17:10 BST on Monday. A 59-year-old woman was held on suspicion of drink-driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop at a road traffic collision. West Mercia Police said it would like to hear from anyone who saw, or who had dashcam footage of, the crash or either of the vehicles in the minutes before it.
