'I spotted unique chocolate bar item at car boot – but price left me gobsmacked'

Daily Mirror14-05-2025

A woman was left gobsmacked by the price of a chocolate bar item that she noticed at the car boot sale, however, the man explained there was something special about it
Car boot sales are usually a place to grab a fantastic bargain or two, because one person's trash is another's treasure. But one woman was left gobsmacked when she was told the price of a "choccy bar" when she was browsing - but she did think that it was "cool," saying she "can't believe" the man had it for sale.
Becky's Bazaar is well known on social media for bagging good bargains and showing people round charity shops, car boot sales and the like. In a recent video, she was browsing original Warner Brothers' teddies, caps, and potentially designer bags for good prices.

She was told that she could have things "for a fiver," which she was happy with, and she continued browsing at the car boot.

Becky then spotted a Diesel top and a Moschino one, which were being sold for £10 and £15, which some in the comments argued was "too expensive," but she thought it was quite reasonable for designer items.
She hit the jackpot when she found a French Connection hoodie that was just £2.50, however the next item she spotted – a huge chocolate bar sign which used to sit outside shops in the 90s – was a tad more expensive.
Becky was heard saying to the seller: "That's so sick. Excuse me. How much is your Mars sign out of interest?"
The man then explained that the sign was £100, because "they were only made in 1993," so they were really rare and tricky to get hold of.
Continuing to browse his stall, she looked at a horror mask that he said was "a fiver," joking that he'd been "having a good laugh with that".

"I dangle it out of my window when I go on car boots," he joked, but he'd decided to sell it to get some money.
In the comments, someone wrote: "That's an expensive boot sale. People wouldn't pay those prices around where I live for a teddy or skirt".
Another added: "We have to sell things for 20p at my car boot, where the hell is this?"

"Come to the Barnsley area and try to get a tenner for a skirt!! They want everything for 1 or 2 pounds up here. And I ain't kidding," a man fumed.
One woman said: "They're going to be taking all that back home with them at those prices," with someone saying you should go to Primark for clothing instead.
"Nice to get an idea of what people are charging these days. Can't expect everything for 50p though. Those days are over," a car boot goer lamented.

Why is shopping at car boots a good idea?
Going to car boot sales can be a fantastic idea for a variety of reasons. Firstly, they are often treasure troves of unique and affordable finds. Whether you're looking for vintage items, second-hand clothes, furniture, or even rare collectables, car boots provide an opportunity to discover one-of-a-kind pieces that you wouldn't find in typical retail stores.
The thrill of not knowing what you might come across adds an exciting element to the experience. Plus, items are usually sold at much lower prices compared to traditional shops, making it a budget-friendly way to shop or even start a small collection or hobby.
Moreover, car boot sales are not just a great way to shop but also offer a sense of community. They bring people from all walks of life together, creating an opportunity to connect with sellers and other shoppers in a relaxed, friendly setting.
Many people enjoy the social aspect of chatting, bartering, and sharing tips, which adds to the charm of the event. It's also an environmentally friendly way to shop as it promotes recycling and reusing items, ultimately reducing waste and supporting sustainable consumption.
Whether you're hunting for bargains or simply enjoying the atmosphere, car boot sales offer a fulfilling and enjoyable experience.

A friend of the couple told The Sun: 'They are selling the Portuguese pad - and are looking at different holiday places now. 'They had some great times there but just decided it was time for a change. 'It's actually laughable for anyone to think it has anything to do with the court case . Nothing could be further from the truth. And that's shown by the fact they are looking for a new holiday pad.' The property is located on the millionaires' haunt of Quinta do Lago where stars including Alan Shearer, Holly Willoughby, Phillip Schofield, John Terry and Duncan Bannatyne all have holiday homes. Agents Knight Frank wrote of the pad: 'This magnificent property, built over four levels, showcases meticulous attention to lifestyle details.' 'In addition to the three external pools, which epitomize a contemporary lifestyle, the villa includes a central electro-chromic glass lift accessing each floor.' The rival wags faced off one last time over Coleen's "assessment costs" as a judge ruled Becky should pay £212k on top of the £1.19million settlement, totalling at least £1.4million. A source told The Sun at the time: "Becky's breathing a sigh of relief today as she happily closes the chapter on this ongoing saga. "There are big plans coming up for her and so now she's 100 per cent focused on the future." While trying to rebuild her life alongside kindred spirit Elena (Denise Burse), a group known as the Noble Men breaks into their home and takes their beloved dog, leading Becky on a path of bloody revenge. The film stars American Pie and Dude, Where's My Car? icon Seann William Scott as Daryll Jr, a cell leader of the Noble Men. Wrath of Becky had its premiere at the 2023 SXSW festival, debuting to positive reviews and an 89% Rotten Tomatoes rating. It's coming to Netflix in the UK on Friday, and for those who want to watch the first film before diving in, they can do so right now on Prime Video. It sits higher on the review aggregator than Becky, which holds a 72% score. In their review, AWFJ dubbed the film 'delightfully violent', adding that it is 'very silly and a whole lot of fun.' 'The Wrath of Becky delivers satisfying action, as this underestimated heroine makes some terrible people look like absolute fools,' the Los Angeles Times said in their review. added: 'There's a charming simplicity to a genre film that can be introduced as 'Let's just kill some fascists!' and Angel & Coote know how to pace and deliver this kind of gut punch of a movie.' Similarly, Bloody Disgusting wrote: 'Angel and Coote's playful tonal shift becomes instrumental in the sequel's success as an entertaining action-horror-comedy romp, and Wilson is more than game in taking Becky less seriously. It makes for an irreverently delightful time.' The Austin Chronicle surmised that Wrath of Becky is a 'bloody good time,' while Film Inquiry said it was 'playful but brutal.' Speaking to Screen Rant, Ouija: Origin of Evil star Wilson recalled the 'extremely exciting' moment she learned a sequel to Becky was happening. 'I remember wrapping the first Becky and people being like, 'Oh, it's time for a sequel,' and it felt just like bulls**t to me at the time. It was like, 'You're just saying that',' she said. More Trending But when I actually got the call being like, 'Are you down to make the sequel?' it was incredibly exciting. 'Of course, I was so down to do that, Becky's one of my favorite characters I've ever had the pleasure of playing, and I couldn't wait to see where we could take her. 'I knew that everyone involved creatively would really hear me out on my ideas, and they so did, and it was an incredible opportunity. I had a fantastic time on set, and now it's coming out and it's unbelievable.' Wrath of Becky is streaming from Friday on Netflix. Got a story?
