Craig Bellamy promised not to sit back and defend against group favourites Belgium on Monday after brushing aside Liechtenstein to go top of their World Cup qualifying group. The Nottingham Forest full-back, in trying to cross on the byline midway through the first half, landed awkwardly and was in obvious pain before leaving the field on a stretcher. Williams appears a serious doubt for Monday's clash with Belgium. 'Give us a few hours,' said Bellamy. 'We just don't know. We'll find out tomorrow morning (Saturday). 'The medical staff will be racing with it, we'll make sure he's looked after. 'We'll find more and relay that message as soon as we know.'

Rodon's thumping header at the end of the first half pacified Welsh frustrations who had until then encountered visiting goalkeeper Benjamin Buchel in inspired form. Second half goals from Harry Wilson and Kieffer Moore gave the scoreline a fairer reflection but while Bellamy's side now head to Brussels as Group J leaders, there will be concern over Nottingham Forest defender Williams who landed awkwardly on his ankle after 20 minutes and left the pitch in pain. The FIFA rankings suggested a one-sided affair at the Cardiff City stadium with only five countries considered worse than Liechtenstein in 205th. Bellamy's unbeaten record in charge was never likely to be threatened but Buchel kept the game goalless for 39 minutes by pulling off fantastic stops to deny Brennan Johnson, Ethan Ampadu and Moore. Chebet, who recorded the second-fastest ever time in the women's 3000 metres – running 8:11.56 in Rabat last month behind Wang Junxia's 8:06.11 set in 1993 – appears determined to shave further seconds off her times. "I can see that my body is in good shape and that I am capable of achieving the world record. Now I am going home to prepare for it. Everything is possible," the 25-year-old said after the race. Jamaica's Andrenette Knight dominated the women's 400m hurdles, finishing in 53.67 seconds, while American Anavia Battle won the women's 200 metres in 22.53 seconds.
