Two-week closure of western section of TT course
Urgent drainage works are set to close a western section of the Isle of Man TT course for a fortnight in March.
The A3 will be shut between Ballig Bridge and Cronk Y Voddy on a 24-hour basis from 09:30 GMT on 17 March.
Diversions via the Peel to Kirk Michael Coast Road will be in place during the works in the area of Glen Helen.
The Department of Infrastructure (DOI) said the "essential" work was being carried out at the request of race organisers ACU Events and the Department for Enterprise to allow the races to run.
The project was needed to "alleviate a risk of water seeping onto the carriageway causing a potential hazard to motorcycles travelling at race speed" during the TT and Manx Grand Prix races, the DOI said.
The department said it would allow for the construction of an improved surface water drainage system on the lower section of Creg Willey's Hill.
The work would require a "full width excavation" of the carriageway to install a culvert across the road, the DOI said.
Resurfacing and re-lining of the surface would take place as part of the project, it added.
While access to residential properties will be maintained, the route will be closed to through traffic throughout the period.
Diversions will be put in place at the Poortown Road and at Douglas Road Corner junctions on the A2.
The Isle of Man TT races are scheduled to take place between 26 May and 7 June.

11 dead, several still missing in San Antonio floods
At least 11 people have died and several are still missing after flash flooding hit San Antonio, Texas. The severe storms on Wednesday and Thursday forced cars off roads, pushing some drivers into a creek, according to a local CBS, the BBC's US news partner. The San Antonio Fire Department said rescuers were searching for at least four people missing in the floods. Officials said the death toll may change and their search and recovery efforts will take days. The fire department has deployed K9 units and asked for additional assistance from a statewide urban search and rescue force. Officials performed more than 70 water rescues as of Friday afternoon, according to the city's website. At least four of those who were rescued were taken to hospitals with minor injuries, CBS reported. Three of the people who died in the floods have been identified - Martha De La Torre Rangel, Matthew Angel Tufono, and Victor Manuel Macias Castro. They were stuck in their cars near the Perrin Beitel neighbourhood at around 05:00 local time (11:00 GMT) amid the heavy rain on Thursday morning when the water came rushing in, CBS reported, citing fire officials. One woman, Angel Richards, told CBS affiliate KENS 5 that her husband, Stevie, was on his way to work when he called to say he was caught in the floodwaters. "It's hard because I was on the phone when this happened, and then not to have a lot of communication, to see my car, it's devastating to me," Richards said. "No one can say to me, 'Hey, this is what's going on.'" San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg expressed his condolences to the families of the flood victims. "Our hearts are with the families of those we've lost to this week's flash floods and the families who continue searching for their loved ones," Nirenberg said on X. Joaquin Castro, a Democratic House Representative from San Antonio, called the flash floods a "tragedy". "My prayers are with the families and loved ones of the victims of this week's flash floods," he said on X. "San Antonio always stands together when tragedy strikes and we will continue to do so as our community grieves this loss." Record-breaking motorcyclist says MBE a ‘privilege beyond words'
Record-breaking motorcycle racer Michael Dunlop said becoming an MBE in the King's Birthday Honours is a 'privilege beyond words'. The professional road racer from Ballymoney, Northern Ireland, was made an MBE for services to motorcycle racing. Part of the famous Dunlop racing dynasty, he established himself as one of the greatest road racers of all time as the most successful rider in the history of the Isle of Man TT, with 32 wins. In a statement, Dunlop said: 'What an honour it is to be named in the King's Birthday Honours list and to receive an MBE. 'I've spent years pushing through every high and low life could throw at me. No matter the challenge, I've always given everything 100% on and off the track. 'To now be recognised in this way is a privilege beyond words. 'From the beginning, I've driven myself to become the best rider I can be, with the goal of becoming the greatest at the TT. At the same time, I've always carried the pride of keeping the Dunlop name at the top of the sport. 'This journey hasn't been easy but the results speak for themselves. I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who's played a part in it: my team, my sponsors, my family, my friends, and the fans who've stood by me through it all. 'Thank you.'
