Goodison's Greatest - Relive the Glory and Remember the Legends.

Daily Record14-05-2025

Step back into the golden eras of Everton Football Club with Goodison's Greatest– the ultimate tribute to the teams, triumphs, and towering figures that defined a proud 147-year history
IT was an era when Everton ruled English football. Relive the triumphs, the legends, and the unforgettable glory days of the Toffees.
Howard Kendall's iconic Class of 1984/85 stepped out of Liverpool 's shadows to win the league and European Cup Winners' Cup.

The Toffees won the title again two years on, as well as the FA Cup during that halcyon period. Only the English ban prevented them from being favourites to win the European Cup too.

As Everton say farewell to Goodison Park, this special edition celebrates that golden period for Everton, and looks back at other great Blues sides in the club's 147-year history - you can order a copy online by clicking here.
We tell the astonishing stories behind the goal-laden Dixie Dean team, and of the superb Harry Catterick 1960s era, and the Ball-Harvey-Kendall title winners. Of how the 1995 ' Dogs of War' lifted the FA Cup. Not forgetting the first David Moyes era, when Everton challenged near the top of the Premier League.
They each make for wonderful tales. But taking pride of place, of course, are those Everton double winners of the mid-1980s.
We detail the behind-the-scenes stories from the key games that had Everton fans in raptures, including a 5-0 thumping of Manchester United that Everton's players reckon 'could have been eight or nine'.
We also look at the stars behind the double triumph and what they have been up to in the decades since.
Plus, of course, the gaffer – how the inspirational Kendall drove the success with his demands, man-management, training methods ahead of their time, and tactical genius – after his sliding-doors moment.
On sale 21st May 2025 order will be dispatched from above date.

Tony said: "This medal represents the pinnacle of my footballing career, but it's impossible to separate it from the heartbreak we all experienced that day. "I've kept it for four decades, and I now feel the time is right to pass it to someone who understands both the pride and the pain tied to that season." The fire, which started during the match against Lincoln City, is still one of the most tragic days in British sporting history. (Image: Supplied) Brian Clements, managing director at McTear's, said: "This is not just a medal, it's a deeply emotional artifact from a defining moment in English football history. "We are honoured to handle its sale." Tony's time at Bradford City included one of the most unusual moments in the club's history. Pictures of Caersws Primary School pupils from the 2000s

WELCOME to another spotlight as we venture back in time to celebrate Caersws Primary School. The pictures are dated from the start of the 2000s to around 2010 and hopefully showcases the school and its pupils during the decade. Ysgol Caersws C.P. School is a modern, English-medium community primary school serving the village and surrounding areas. The school building was constructed in 1985 on a large, green field site and includes facilities like Cwtsh Caersws - an integrated early years setting - a library, and a well-equipped central hall. England T20 captain Harry Brook: I'm already preparing for 2026 World Cup

Friday's 21-run win over the West Indies in Durham was Brook's first outing as skipper in the format but he knows time is short to get his feet under the table. England have just 14 more games scheduled before the next global tournament in India and Sri Lanka in February, meaning the time is now when it comes to making plans. Dip. Grip. Past the edge 😮‍💨 Back in the team 🦁Straight in the wickets 👏 Liam Dawson | #ENGvWI — England Cricket (@englandcricket) June 6, 2025 That meant lining up with just two seamers for the first ever time in home conditions, with 12 overs of spin giving a hint at the structure England are likely to lean on in the sub-continent. While Brook's predecessor Jos Buttler set things up with a dominant knock of 96, Liam Dawson walked away with the player-of-the-match award in his first international appearance in nearly three years. The 35-year-old Hampshire stalwart claimed career-best figures of four for 20, while there were also wickets for Adil Rashid and Jacob Bethell. 'We don't want to look too far ahead but we've got to trial some things like this,' said Brook. 'The next World Cup is going to be in Sri Lanka and India. We're not completely set on this structure for the team but it's worth a go and it worked this time. 'I just think that having two very good spinners – frontline spinners – makes a massive difference. 'As a batter, when you're facing two experienced spin bowlers, you have to decide which end you're going to attack. 'These two (Rashid and Dawson) have been playing the game for so long, they know T20 cricket, they know the grounds and they've played against so many of these boys, that having them both in the side will help us going forward.' Dawson, who has been overlooked consistently for a rotating cast of spinners with inferior records on the county circuit, was praised for an 'awesome' comeback performance that saw him get the best of Johnson Charles, Sherfane Rutherford, Roston Chase and Rovman Powell. 'He bowled beautifully. He's got so many skills. He's been playing the game for pushing on 20 years and he's learned a lot of things along the way,' said Brook. The West Indies were frustrated to be missing one of their own left-arm spinners on a helpful pitch for the slower bowlers. Akeal Hosein has yet to make it to English soil after delays related a change in UK visa requirements for Trinidad and Tobago. Cricket West Indies said 'attempts to expedite the visa process' had been unsuccessful but a spokesperson confirmed on Friday that the 32-year-old could arrive ahead of Tuesday's series finale in Southampton. One of our greatest white-ball players ever 🙌 Match Highlights: | @JosButtler — England Cricket (@englandcricket) June 6, 2025 All-rounder Jason Holder said: 'He was missed, he's one of our frontline players. It's an unfortunate situation. 'We can't control that so we can only control what's in front of us. We've got players here who are willing and able to do a job for the West Indies. 'We had a team that was good enough to beat England but we fell a little short, particularly with the bat.'
