Oregon Ducks land commitment from 4-star safety
Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks added another blue-chip member to the 2026 recruiting class early on Wednesday morning, picking up a verbal commitment from 4-star safety Xavier Lherisse.
From Melbourne, Fla., Lherisse chose Oregon over the likes of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Auburn Tigers. He stands at 5-foot-10, 185 pounds, and is the 10th member of the Ducks' 2026 class.
Lherisse is rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 407 overall player in the 2026 class, and No. 33 safety in the nation. He is the seventh defensive player that the Ducks have grabbed in the class, but the first member of the secondary.
With the addition of Lherisse, Oregon still stands at No. 2 in the recruiting rankings, behind only the USC Trojans, who managed to flip former Ducks' 4-star QB commit Jonas Williams earlier this month. The Ducks are still in a great position to add to the class over the coming weeks, with high-end players like 5-star QB Jared Curtis and 5-star OT Jackson Cantwell set to take their visits and potentially commit soon.

Five-Star Cornerback Brandon Arrington Narrows Decision Down to Two Schools With Texas A&M and Oregon in the Running
Five-Star Cornerback Brandon Arrington Narrows Decision Down to Two Schools With Texas A&M and Oregon in the Running originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Texas A&M football's No. 6 overall recruiting class of 2026 introduced five new faces in June so far, but has been missing a five-star recruit to lead the pack. Advertisement All of that can turn around in head coach Mike Elko's favor, though, as a five-star cornerback's decision date rapidly approaches. Texas A&M Aggies head coach Mike Lysaker-USA TODAY Sports Five-star Brandon Arrington, the No. 10 overall recruit, No. 1 athlete overall, and No. 1 pick out of California, received 44 offers around the country. He scheduled six visits with his top colleges, including Penn State, Washington, Alabama, Oregon, USC, and Texas A&M. Arrington recently pushed his decision date up to June 19, one day before his official visit date with Texas A&M. Even without his official visit, though, the Aggies kept their top spot in the cornerback's mind as he narrowed his decision down to them and the Ducks. Advertisement The defensive side of Oregon's program is what's especially appealing to Arrington and a motivating reason to keep it in his top two. He also has a strong relationship with the staff, specifically defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi. "Great environment, great coaches," Arrington said to On3 following his official visit. "Just the coaching, experience [the Ducks have], defensive guys they got, the plan and all that. They came from Georgia and Alabama so you know they have that defensive pedigree." Even so, Elko has made him a top priority, and Arrington can feel it. He would be the third cornerback recruit alongside four-star Victor Singleton and three-star Camren Hamiel. "It is the people at [Texas] A&M," Arrington said to On3. "They all want me and they recruit me hard. From the start, it never changed with A&M. They recruited me the same, they built relationships and how consistent they have been stands out." Advertisement The Spring Valley native would join the class of 2026's Madden Williams, Samu Moala, and Caleb Tufa as recruits out of California given they all remain committed to the Aggies. Whether Arrington decides to go with an SEC or Big Ten program will be announced on Thursday. 5-Star Recruit Brandon Arrington Has Personal Reason for Choosing Texas A&M Over Oregon
5-Star Recruit Brandon Arrington Has Personal Reason for Choosing Texas A&M Over Oregon originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Texas A&M football continues to build an impressive 2026 recruiting class. Advertisement Just days after one of the top running back prospects in the nation, Mike Elko and his staff have lured their first five-star 2026 recruit to the Aggies, as Mount Miguel (Calif.) product Brandon Arrington chose College Station as his new home on Thursday. Texas A&M Aggies head coach Mike Elko gets ready for a pre-game interview with the SEC Nation prior to the game against the Missouri Tigers at Kyle Field on Oct. 5, Lysaker/Imagn Images. Arrington, a 6-foot-2 standout at wide receiver and cornerback at the prep level, is listed as the No. 1 overall prospect in California and No . 1 athlete in the nation by the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He had narrowed his final decision down to Oregon and Texas A&M, but the Aggies won out in the end. What was the deciding factor for Arrington? Well, it was just what his heart told him to do. Advertisement "I feel like that's the place to be, in my heart," Arrington told those gathered to watch his announcement. "That's why I chose A&M." Part of what inspired that feeling in his heart seems to be the effort that the Aggies put into Arrington's recruitment, and their plans for him within the program -- both of which Arrington talked about after making his choice on Thursday. "They've been recruiting me the hardest, I feel like it was just the best fit for me," Arrington added. "They told me the plan they want for me, and everything like that so, I just felt like they wanted me really bad and they put their time and effort into me." Advertisement Regardless of the reason, Texas A&M is glad to have landed the massive prospect. Arrington has been touted by 247Sports national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins as a player with "high round NFL Draft potential." Five-star safety Joey O'Brien commits to Notre Dame football, joining Maryland prep CB Khary Adams
SOUTH BEND — Notre Dame football's 2026 recruiting class continues to fly high in the national rankings. Friday evening, June 20, the latest nonbinding commitment came from five-star safety Joey O'Brien of La Salle College High School in suburban Philadelphia. Rated 30th overall and fourth nationally among safeties, per 247 Sports Composite, O'Brien had the Irish in his top four along with Penn State, Oregon and Clemson. "I'd trust Coach Marcus Freeman with my life," O'Brien said at his announcement, which was carried live on YouTube. "He's the type of dude I want to go to battle for." The 6-foot-3, 185-pound O'Brien, who also stars at wide receiver, took his official visit to Notre Dame last weekend. Flanked by his parents and sisters, O'Brien said he gave the Irish his commitment on Wednesday night, June 18. "It was really a hard choice for me, but that last visit really pushed everything over the top for them," O'Brien said. "I like to win. That's what I'm going to do. I'm going to be fighting for a spot as soon as I get there." Earlier Friday, the Irish secured a commitment from four-star cornerback Khary Adams of Loyola Blakefield in Towson, Md. Rated No. 36 overall, Adams chose the Irish over offers from fellow finalists Michigan, Oregon and Penn State. Adams is taking his official visit this weekend. On Wednesday June 18, Notre Dame added a commitment from O'Brien's prep teammate, Wyndmoor, Pa., offensive tackle Grayson McKeough (6-foot-7, 275 pounds). McKeough is a three-star prospect with significant upside. With first-year general manager Mike Martin leading the recruiting operation, the Irish moved past Texas A&M on Friday and trail only USC in the latest national rankings for the 2026 cycle. Martin's predecessor, Chad Bowden, jumped to the Trojans in January. At 6-foot-3 and 182 pounds, Adams has reportedly flashed 4.4 speed in the 40-yard dash and has been clocked at 10.7 seconds in the 100 meters. Only O'Brien and edge rusher Rodney Dunham (No. 15 overall) of Myers Park High School in Charlotte, N.C., rank higher in the current Irish 2026 signing class. In late April, Notre Dame secured a commitment from four-star safety Ayden Pouncey (No. 139 overall) of Winter Park, Fla. Three-star cornerback Chaston Smith gave his commitment last Dec. 1, and the recent additions have only added to the pipeline of talent flowing into defensive pass-game coordinator Mike Mickens' vaunted secondary. Commitments won't become official until the early signing period opens Dec. 3-5.
