Cowboys Offer One-Word George Pickens Scouting Report From OTAs
Cowboys Offer One-Word George Pickens Scouting Report From OTAs originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
New players always want to make a good first impression, and for Dallas Cowboys receiver George Pickens, he was coming to The Star with a fiery reputation.

But as he chases a new contract at season's end, one thing has been crystal clear since he entered the building - he's here to work.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer has praised George's "intentionality" in the classroom, picking up the scheme and system quickly, and then his play on the practice field with a sublime toe-tap touchdown grab at OTAs all point to a player who is dialed in and loving his new surroundings.
"Outstanding," Cowboys' COO Jones said of Pickens. "He's just been outstanding, it's great to see him, his interactions with CeeDee in the receiving room, and with Dak and the quarterbacks, and in general. He's thrilled to be here, and we're thrilled to have him here."

With CeeDee Lamb finally getting his running mate, Dak Prescott now has what can easily be described as a formidable tandem to work with.

But before George can be a weapon for Dak, he must dot his I's and cross his T's which is perhaps why it has been so refreshing to see the receiver at OTAs, and not just going through the motions, but making plays and being intentional with how he is approaching his chance with the Cowboys.
With Lamb and Pickens as a one-two punch, the Cowboys offense has the chance to do some damage this season, in what is a far cry from the unit Dak had to work with last season.
Yes, the talent is there from Pickens, but it is his work ethic and willingness to embrace the Schottenheimer way that have stood out.
It is early, but Pickens, despite all the narratives surrounding him, hasn't put a foot wrong, so it's no wonder Stephen is rather happy with his latest acquisition.

Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw Gets Last Laugh After Cardinals Video Board Troll
Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw Gets Last Laugh After Cardinals Video Board Troll originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Minutes before the St. Louis Cardinals were set to take on Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday afternoon, a video was played on the Busch Stadium video board looking back at a historic moment in Cardinals postseason history. Advertisement It was a highlight of Matt Adams' three-run home run off Kershaw in the seventh inning of Game 4 of the 2014 NLDS. Adams' heroic blast not only propelled the Cardinals into the NLCS against the San Francisco Giants, but it came off the eventual 2014 NL MVP Kershaw, who had finished the regular season 21-3 with a 1.77 ERA and 239 strikeouts. The timing of Sunday's video troll, however, didn't sit well with some Cardinals fans. "Probably not a great idea to piss off a hall of famer," one user suggested on 'X.' "Sadly that seems to have made Kershaw just lock in" another wrote. "And then got it shoved up their asses by a 38-year-old soft, tossing left-hander who struck out almost half the outs that he got," another fan lamented. Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw (22) pitches against the St. Louis CardinalsJeff Curry-Imagn Images Kershaw, who is 37-years-old, was flat out dominant Sunday, allowing just one run in five innings of work in the Dodgers 7-3 win. It was his first victory since August 18, 2024, which was also at Busch Stadium. Advertisement He threw 82 pitches, gave up six hits, and struck out seven batters, bringing his total to 2,983, just 17 shy of 3,000 for his career. Only 19 pitchers in Major League Baseball have accomplished that feat. With the loss, the Cardinals fell to 36-29 (22-11 at home) on the season and are four games back of the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central and one game out of a wild card spot. St. Louis will next host the Toronto Blue Jays for a three-game set beginning Monday. Caitlin Clark News Surfaces on Monday Amid Injury
Caitlin Clark News Surfaces on Monday Amid Injury originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has missed the last four games with a left quadriceps strain that she suffered May 24 against the New York Liberty. Despite that, she's averaging 19.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 9.3 assists per game this WNBA season. Advertisement She was originally given a timetable of at least two weeks before being reevaluated. As the two-week mark approached, Clark admitted there was no point in rushing back, as getting to 100% health was of the utmost importance. 'I'm not going to rush coming back,' Clark said. 'It's just not worth it. But after this weekend, I'll be reevaluated and we'll have a better idea.' Meanwhile, the weekend has since passed, and the Fever have gone 2-2 without her, sitting at 4-4 on the season. Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark reacts to a call in the second half against the Washington Faith Morgan-Imagn Images The team held practice on Monday before traveling to Atlanta to face the Dream on Tuesday. Afterward, head coach Stephanie White spoke to the media and announced that Clark won't play for the fifth straight game. Advertisement "Not for tomorrow, no," White said when she asked if Clark would be in the lineup against the Dream. "I think for us, we got to work both her and Sophie (Cunningham) back. Are they in basketball condition? What does it mean to go live? It's one thing to do some shooting drills. It's another thing to get out there on the floor. " While this isn't the update Fever fans wanted to hear, things are heading in the right direction as Clark is ready to start "ramping back up." Clark joined the team on Monday for some shooting and was seen running to grab a rebound. Despite not having Clark and Cunningham once again, having White back after she missed Saturday's game against the Chicago Sky for "personal reasons" is good news. Advertisement White's partner, Lisa Salters, an ESPN sideline reporter, also missed Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Sunday night, likely for the same reason.
