Coronation Street legends report neighbour to social services

Coronation Street legends report neighbour to social services

Metro20 hours ago

Coronation Street couple Sally and Tim Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor and Joe Duttine) recently made the decision that they wanted to become foster parents.
The idea was Tim's originally. The couple had tried to help Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan), a troubled teen the rest of the neighbourhood had given up on.
They found that Mason was sincerely trying to turn his life around and, with Tim and Sally's support, he could have achieved that. Sadly his life was cut short when he was stabbed, something which made Tim feel guilty and wishing he could have done more.
When he picked up Lou Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty) and her daughters in his cab as she tried to flee from abusive husband Mick (Joe Layton), Tim again showed his caring side.
As Lou fled from the hospital where he took her, Tim took on responsibility for looking after Shanice (Molly Kilduff) and Joanie (Savanna Pennington) and brought them back to number 4.
In the wake of this Tim set up an appointment with social services to be considered as a foster parent. Sally was initially angry that he did this without consulting her but eventually came around to the idea.
Recently we saw Tim once again looking after Shanice and Joanie. Unfortunately this didn't go well, as a squabble between the couple upset Shanice. For her, the dispute reminded her of the violent arguments that had erupted between Lou and Mick.
It was a lesson for Sally and Tim and they kept it in mind when Lou next asked them to look after the girls. Lou explained to Brody (Ryan Mulvey) that there was no food in the house, but at least she knew that Tim and Sally would give the girls a decent meal. More Trending
Aware of the difficult circumstances the two girls were facing at home, Sally and Tim debated what to do and how best to help them.

In upcoming episodes, Sally decides the best thing will be to contact social services with their concerns for the girls' welfare.
Obviously this is something that won't go down well with Lou, as she risks losing her children altogether – and getting on the wrong side of Lou isn't a great idea.

But for Sally and Tim, the experience of looking after Shanice and Joanie has made them more certain than ever that fostering is what they want to do.

Harry Redknapp 'drives Sandra mad' as he refuses to retire after health ordeal

Soccer Aid 2025 coach Harry Redknapp has opened up about his and wife Sandra's health struggles, as well as his reluctance to retire from the world of showbiz Harry Redknapp has candidly confessed that he "finds it hard to say no to things" and isn't ready to hang up his boots just yet, even as the ex-Tottenham boss nears his 80th birthday. In a revealing chat from 2023, the now-78-year-old shared that since ending his football management career in 2017, he's been non-stop, even entering the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! jungle and emerging victorious the following year. ‌ Harry, who is gearing up to coach the England team for Soccer Aid on Sunday, admitted that his hesitation to reduce his frequent television appearances, which includes projects with his son, former professional footballer Jamie Redknapp, is something that sends his wife Sandra round the bend. ‌ Speaking to Saga Magazine about whether he's put his feet up for good, Harry declared: "Not a chance. I can't. I find it hard to say no to things – it drives Sandra mad." He reminisced about his TV gigs, saying: "Recently, I've done Harry's Heroes for ITV, managed in Soccer Aid and last year Jamie and I filmed Jamie and Harry's World Cup Challenge [for Sky Max]. What a laugh that was." Harry also touched upon the health battles he and Sandra have faced, telling the magazine: "I've had a kidney cancer scare and a stent fitted into my heart, and Sandra's had ovarian cancer and really suffered with her throat after damaging her vocal cords." He recalled how Sandra's sepsis scare in 2018 nearly prevented him from jetting off to Australia for I'm A Celebrity, leaving him deeply concerned about potentially losing his beloved wife. Harry reminisced: "I was terrified I was going to lose her and I nearly didn't get on the plane. ‌ "But she wasn't having it – she wanted me to go. I'll never forget the moment she came into camp to see me. It was the first time she'd seen me cry." ITV audiences were utterly enchanted by Harry and Sandra's romance, shedding tears themselves during their emotional reunion in the jungle, which preceded Harry being named King of the Jungle. In recent news, Harry expressed his thrill at returning to Soccer Aid tonight, where he will witness England take on the World XI team to support Unicef's fundraising efforts. Joining him as part of the England coaching team are football icon Wayne Rooney, heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury, 'Line of Duty' star Vicky McClure, and goalkeeping hero David James, while a mix of ex-pros and stars lace up their boots for the big game.

Strictly's Gorka Marquez talks 'most challenging' part of show after major change-up

More info Gorka Marquez, who rose to fame as a Strictly Come Dancing professional, has become a regular face on British telly, popping up again on ITV tonight for Soccer Aid, ahead of his return to the dance floor in the autumn. But it was a TV appearance in his native Spain that made Gorka realise that he might have become slightly too British. Speaking to Digital Spy, Gorka revealed that Spanish audiences complained about having trouble understanding him. He explained that, when he appeared as a judge on Spanish TV's version of Strictly, Bailando con las Estrellas, audiences accused him of "putting on an English accent". "The most challenging thing was speaking Spanish," he said. "I get so many comments from people saying, 'Why is he putting on an English accent if he's Spanish?' and I'm like, 'I'm not putting on an English accent, this is how I speak Spanish now'." (Image: Mike Marsland, Mike Marsland/WireImagevia Getty Images) He added that, while Brits might see him as having quite a strong Spanish accent, for Spaniards, he sounds more like an American trying to speak Spanish. Gorka, who was born in the northern city of Bilbao, explained that having worked on Strictly in the UK for almost a decade, when he thinks about the technicalities of dance, he tends to use English words. "Most of the time, [when] I speak about dancing it's in English, so when I help to judge them and I have to make a sentence, I translate it from English to Spanish." (Image: BBC/Guy Levy) He added that while it was a bit of a "challenge" to make the switch from dancer to judge, he really enjoyed his Bailando con las Estrellas experience. He said that it felt like suddenly switching from being a football player to a team manager, when all you want to do is to go back out and play. However, he added, UK Strictly fans can look forward to a good few more years of his fancy footwork: "I want to keep dancing, so in the UK I'll stick to dancing," Gorka's wife, British actress Gemma Atkinson, complains that, with his Spanish TV role adding to his Strictly commitments, he's rarely at home with her and their two children: "He's never here" she said, "It's Strictly from July to December, if they get a partner, they're based where their partner is in the week. Obviously London at the weekend." (Image: Carlos Alvarez, Getty Images) Generally, professional dancers will travel to where ever their celebrity partners are based for midweek practice. Gemma says she always watches the first show of every series with keen interest, hoping that whoever Gorka is partnered with will live near their family home. She explained: "So every time the line-up's announced, all I do, I think, 'I don't care who it is, I just Google where they live.' If they're in Manchester, I'm like, 'great'." Gemma herself competed on the show in 2017, but was dancing with Aljaz Skorjanec, while Gorka was partnered with former X Factor winner Alexandra Burke. Gemma keeps pretty busy herself, with appearances on reality shows such as I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! and Celebrity MasterChef. But as an actress, she's known for her appearances as Lisa Hunter in Hollyoaks, before leaving that show and going to play Carly Hope in Emmerdale.

EastEnders fans reveal soap legend to return with major clue

The BBC soap has been sharing teasers over the weekend, ahead of new executive producer Ben Wadey's debut episode on Monday (June 16). It comes as he recently hinted that something 'big' is about to happen in Walford next week. Ben revealed he hopes it will 'get everyone talking' and 'it's only just the beginning'. Earlier today (June 15) on X, the @bbceastenders account shared a clip through the eyes of someone walking past some market stalls in Albert Square, which viewers believe is a nod to an iconic scene with a popular character who is rumoured to be returning after two decades. Eagle-eyed viewers have noticed the teaser focused where Zoe Slater's famous 'you ain't my mother!' scene took place in 2001, after she found out Kat Slater was her mum. Zoe, who is played by Michelle Ryan, is set to return to EastEnders as it reportedly feels like the 'perfect' moment for the actress to make a huge comeback. A source previously told The Sun: 'Bosses have repeatedly reached out to Michelle over the years, but the timing has never been quite right. Blink and you'll miss it! #EastEnders, 7:30pm, Monday 16th June on @BBCOne and @BBCiPlayer. 'People are still talking about her character, so it's a real coup to bring her back. 'She feels like now is the perfect moment — and there was an exciting script on the table.' Reacting to the teaser clip on X, someone commented: 'I didn't see any signs with her name on it this time, but the whole thing takes place where 'You ain't my Mother!' took place. Plus I felt there was an emphasis on the clothes stall where she used to work…' Someone else shared: 'Ah yes. The same place where you ain't my muvva happened.' A third wrote: 'Oh Zoe is SO back because I remember this scene!!!' While this fan said: ''You ain't my muvva' location… Zoe…?!' Others also agreed EastEnders were hinting at Zoe's arrival as one put: 'Deffo Zoe it's stoped and blinked at the slater stall.' 'Zoe used to work on the stalls,' this viewer chimed in. A user also stated: 'Got to be Zoe I have never seen a market stall selling cat (Kat) things.' Instead, it will be shown on BBC One from 7.30pm and iPlayer at the same time. EastEnders confirmed the schedule change, as a post on X said: "Schedule Alert! #EastEnders, Monday 16th June, 7:30pm on @BBCOne and @BBCiPlayer. Trust us, you won't want to miss it!
