Dana White cut from Canelo-Crawford promotion?
UFC supremo Dana White is no longer promoting the forthcoming mega fight between Terence Crawford and Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez.
An announcement on The Ring 's website states that the event, now set for 13 September in the US, will be promoted by Saudi firm Sela and not TKO Boxing, as was originally announced two weeks ago.
Turki Alalshikh wrote on X: "We have confirmed the promoter for Canelo vs. Crawford will be Sela for Riyadh Season. The broadcaster we have not decided yet, but the date will be Saturday 13th September. More details soon."
The principals behind the match between Crawford and Canelo have been shifting for some time. The fight had originally been planned for Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas but is now homeless (five spots are being considered in three cities) as there are football games planned that weekend in that venue.
Six days ago, Alalshikh said on Twitter that he would announce 'at the right time' when and where the fight would be held. Despite this, the kick-off press conference is due to be held in Riyadh within the next few weeks.
Now, it seems that TKO Boxing, which was formed when the UFC and the WWE merged last year, has lost a flagship show.
The Jeddah-based Sela organises sports and hospitality events within Saudia Arabia. It is owned by the government-funded Public Investment Fund. Back in March, the firm announced that it was working in a multi-year partnership with both Alalshikh and TKO Boxing.
According to its own website, Sela has played a 'pivotal role' in Crawford-Madrimov in Los Angeles and Joshua-Dubois in London. It is also the lead sponsor of Newcastle United.
The usually verbose White has remained silent on his apparent ousting from the Crawford-Canelo fight promotion. At the time of writing, the last posts on his Instagram and Twitter accounts were from two days ago. Likewise, his latest Facebook post is from yesterday and was merely an update of his cover photo to promote UFC Fight Night: Blanchfield vs Barber at the end of the month.

Jones had fireed back at his rival last week, ordering him to 'shut up and do what you're told'. In one of the most controversial UFC sagas in recent memory, Jones and Aspinall continue to hold a heavyweight title each, without having a unification bout booked. Jones, a former two-time light-heavyweight champion, won the vacant heavyweight belt in March 2023, but a planned defence against divisional great Stipe Miocic collapsed later that year when Jones suffered an injury. Aspinall and Sergei Pavlovich stepped up, with the Briton knocking out the Russian to win the interim title, while Jones's clash with Miocic was delayed by 12 months. Last November, Jones stopped his fellow American to retain the regular belt, seemingly setting up a fight with Aspinall, who retained the interim strap last July. However, Jones has continued to play coy over the prospect of that contest coming to fruition. As such, Aspinall opened up on the mental toll of the saga this week, telling UFC legend Demetrious Johnson: 'I've been almost a year inactive with no prospects of anything apart from 'wait'. So, now it's actually a bit more of a tricky time for me mentally than it was [when I was out for 12 months with an injury, from 2023 until 2024]. 'Now, it's just like: 'Just be ready and we'll just let you know.' It's kind of difficult mentally, but this is the fight against Jon Jones. The fight is another thing, this is the tricky bit where I really have to stay switched on, stay motivated, and I'm trying my best. It's tough sometimes.' Verdict MMA shared the 32-year-old's quotes on Instagram, and 37-year-old Jones commented, 'Shut your mouth and do as you're told,' along with a laughing emoji. The comment comes during a week in which Jones has been as vague as ever over the chances of him fighting Aspinall. In one video, he said, 'I'm done,' though he tweeted on the same day: 'I don't know if I wanna call it retired, I feel like I'll always have an ability to pop out and show em. I've had many breaks throughout my career, my identity outside of fighting is well intact. I'm genuinely enjoying life, I'm growing in different ways.' UFC president Dana White did vow this month that he would soon announce the bout, but fans continue to await such an announcement.

Gulf stocks settle varied on tariff uncertainty, rise in oil prices
June 2 (Reuters) - Stock markets in the Gulf ended varied on Monday, as investor sentiment remained fragile after U.S. President Donald Trump's threat to double tariffs on worldwide steel and aluminium. Trump accused China of violating a bilateral deal to roll back tariffs and announced a 50% tariff on steel and aluminium, rattling international trade. The tariffs are set to come into effect starting June 4. Oil prices - a catalyst for markets in the Gulf - jumped by more than 4% after the OPEC+ group decided to keep output increases in July at the same level as the prior two months. . Brent crude futures was up 3.97%, at $65.27 a barrel by 1220 GMT. The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies, decided on Saturday to raise output by 411,000 barrels per day in July. S&P 500 futures fell 0.5%, while Nasdaq futures lost 0.7%, suggesting a retreat at the opening bell later.
