A missing Brooklyn Park man may be in danger, authorities said.
Jim Vang, 43, was last seen Tuesday, walking on the 8100 block of College Park Drive, according to an alert from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
Authorities say Vang is Asian, 5-feet-6-inches tall and 176 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. When last seen, he was wearing a black hat, red pants and a brown jacket.
Anyone with information about Vang is asked to call the Brooklyn Park Police Department at 763-493-8222.

Law enforcement officials say they are searching for a 57-year-old Minnesota man in connection with Saturday's fatal shooting of a prominent Minnesota state lawmaker. The latest: Vance Luther Boelter has been identified as a suspect in the early morning attack that killed House Democratic Leader Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, at their suburban Twin Cities home, and the FBI said it is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to his arrest and conviction. Democratic state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, who were shot at their nearby residence shortly before the attack on the Hortmans, remained hospitalized earlier in the day. Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension superintendent Drew Evans did not provide an update on their condition during a 3pm briefing identifying the suspect. He said they do not know if additional people were involved in the attack. Tim Walz said earlier in the day that the attack appeared to be a "politically motivated assassination." Zoom out: Investigators discovered what they've called a "manifesto" that also listed other Democratic lawmakers in an SUV that the shooter abandoned at Hortman's home after exchanging fire with law enforcement who arrived at the scene. An official who saw the list told Axios it includes prominent individuals who support abortion rights in Minnesota. Evans said it's "premature" to say what the shooter's motivations are based on the writings.

Photo courtesy of Minnesota House of Representatives June 14 (UPI) -- A police manhunt is underway in Minnesota after two state lawmakers and their spouses were shot overnight in a "politically motivated assassination," Gov. Tim Walz told reporters Saturday. Authorities said someone impersonating a police officer shot and killed State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark around 3:30 a.m. CDT in the city of Brooklyn Park, located around 11 miles northwest of Minneapolis. Around 2 a.m. CDT, a gunman opened fire, hitting State Sen. John Hoffman and his wife Yvette "multiple times" in Champlin, Minn., in another targeted shooting. Walz said during a Saturday news conference he is "cautiously optimistic" Hoffman and his wife will survive the shooting and were out of surgery. Local police were at Hortman's residence proactively checking after the earlier shooting. "At which time, Brooklyn Park police officers encountered an individual who immediately fired at them, and they exchanged gunfire and the individual was able to escape during that exchange of gunfire," Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Superintendent Drew Evans told reporters at the news conference Saturday. Brooklyn Park and Champlin are both located in Hennepin County, Minn. A shelter-in-place order remains in place in parts of Brooklyn Park, officials said Saturday, adding "hundreds and hundreds" off personnel are involved in the search for a suspect. Brooklyn Park Police Chief Mark Bruley said officers will work in teams and that no single law enforcement official would approach homes to avoid being confused with the suspect. Residents are also being told to call 911 before opening their doors to anyone claiming to be police to confirm their identity. Bruley said the suspect was at Hortman's home wearing police clothing and driving an SUV made to resemble a police vehicle, complete with emergency lights. The suspect then used the "trust of that uniform and badge" to get inside the home. Police believe the suspect escaped out the back of the home after the exchange of gunfire with police. Officials did seized the SUV used in the crime. The FBI is also now fully involved in the manhunt, joining local and state-level officials. "An unspeakable tragedy has unfolded in Minnesota," Walz said Saturday, addressing Hortman's death. "Our state lost a great leader and I lost the dearest of friends." Hortman was a former Speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives. Both Hortman and Hoffman were members of the Democratic Party. "She was a fixture and a giant in Minnesota. She is irreplaceable and will be missed by so many," Walz, a fellow Democrat, told reporters, calling the shooting an "act of targeted political violence." Walz pledged the state's full cooperation to assist with the developing manhunt. "I've activated the State Emergency Operations Center. Local law enforcement in Champlin and Brooklyn Park have the full resources of the State of Minnesota behind them," he confirmed on X.

A gunman shot two Democratic state lawmakers in Minnesota early Saturday, killing one and her husband and wounding the other, in what the northern US state's governor said were "politically motivated" attacks. The shootings came at a moment of deep political divisions in the United States, as thousands prepared to take to the streets in protest at the policies of Republican President Donald Trump. The suspected assailant was still at large, officials said, with a massive manhunt underway. US President Donald Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi decried what they called "horrific violence" and said the perpetrators would be prosecuted to "the fullest extent of the law." State representative Melissa Hortman -- the former speaker -- and her husband Mark were killed at their home near Minneapolis, Governor Tim Walz told a press conference. State senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette were shot and wounded, the governor said, his voice breaking with emotion. He said officials remained "cautiously optimistic" they would recover. The United States has been deeply divided since Trump returned to the White House in January. The Republican president has drawn criticism from Democrats over his harsh deportation policy, his assault on universities and the media and a perceived flouting of limits on executive power as he pushes his agenda. "At this precipice moment we're on, this tragic act here in Minnesota should serve as a reminder to all of us," Walz said.
