UH-OH: CNN Data Reporter Reveals 'Quite Troubling' News For Trump
CNN data reporter Harry Enten said he had some 'troubling' news for President Donald Trump on Friday: The TACO trend that's been used to taunt Trump is gaining steam.
'The top term that was Googled with 'Donald Trump' on Thursday was... it was 'TACO,'' Enten said, referring to the acronym for 'Trump Always Chickens Out.'
The term is used by investors to refer to the president's tendency to announce big tariffs, causing markets to plunge, then back off, causing them to jump ― and some say relying on Trump to 'chicken out' has helped them score big in an otherwise uncertain market.
'This to me is quite troubling for Donald Trump because obviously he trades on his name,' Enten said. 'He trades on the idea that he does what he says and if all of a sudden you're associating 'Trump Always Chickens Out' with Donald Trump? Well, that is no bueno.'
Trump is aware of the phrase ― and not at all happy about it.
Last week, the president flipped out at a reporter who asked him about the term, calling it 'a nasty question.'
But Enten said the data shows searches for Trump and 'TACO' are climbing 'through the roof,' up 9,900% on Thursday.
'So if you were wondering whether or not this 'Trump Always Chickens Out' and the acronym 'TACO' actually has entered the mainstream, well Google gives it away,' Enten said. 'It 100% has.'

Yeah, like you mentioned, the NIH canceled more than $750, a million dollars, rather, in funding for Moderna. And this is something that the company found out just based on a notification to themselves, even though they were really expecting that to get into late stage development. They said in a statement, Moderna received notice that the Health and Human Services Department, remember led by Secretary Robert F. Kennedy will terminate the award for the late stage development and rights to purchase the pre-pandemic influenza vaccines. Now, we went out to HHS to understand what their rationale was behind this. And among other things they mentioned that the MRNA technology remains quote, "under tested" and we are not going to spend taxpayer dollars repeating the mistakes of the last administration which concealed legitimate safety concerns from the public. And in that they're referring to the myocarditis that was evident in some males and some younger individuals. So, this is really just the latest setback for the company. We know it's been pummeled, the stock is down more than 30% on the year. This is one of the latest. So, we know that they pulled their filing of a combination flu and COVID vaccine earlier last week. Then we've got the NIH funding that's cutting the pandemic and bird flu. And then we've also got missing the Q1 estimates earlier this year. So, just really telling a really hard story for this company. We know it's been under pressure because of the waning COVID revenues, and these are just some of those areas that were supposed to sort of plug that hole. And now, without those in the way, it's a question on what Moderna's viability is. Now, on the flip side, you do have some good news, right? The company's still working on a number of clinical trials with Merck on cancer vaccine. It also has a partnership with Vertex on cystic fibrosis. So, they do have a few other things going for them, but this is really a longer play for the company rather than any near term that they would have otherwise been able to take advantage of. A serious rift has erupted between Elon Musk and President Trump over the massive government spending bill the president has urged Congress to pass. Musk, who donated nearly $275 million toward Trump's 2024 election campaign, on Tuesday posted on X an unambiguous denunciation of the bill, which is called the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act. Justice Department drops lawsuit against Trump adviser Peter Navarro
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Justice Department is dropping a lawsuit that it filed against White House trade adviser Peter Navarro, a case in which he was accused of using an unofficial email account for government work and wrongfully retaining presidential records during the first Trump administration, according to a Tuesday court filing. The joint filing by the Justice Department and an attorney for Navarro doesn't explain why they are abandoning a case that was filed in 2022, during President Joe Biden's term in office. The one-page filing says each side will bear their own fees and costs. The lawsuit accused Navarro of using at least one 'non-official' email account — a ProtonMail account — to send and receive emails. The legal action comes just weeks after Navarro was indicted on criminal charges after refusing to cooperate with a congressional investigation into the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol. Navarro served a four-month prison sentence after being found guilty of misdemeanor charges. The civil cases alleges that by using the unofficial email account, Navarro failed to turn over presidential records to the National Archives and Records Administration. The government notified the court of the lawsuit's dismissal a day before U.S. Magistrate G. Michael Harvey was scheduled to preside over a status conference for the case. A Justice Department spokesperson and a lawyer for Navarro didn't immediately respond to emails seeking comment. Navarro served as a trade adviser during President Donald Trump's first term. A longtime critic of trade arrangements with China, he has been named senior counselor for trade and manufacturing for Trump's second administration.
