UAE's ‘Mudhesh' wins 12 km race at Al Bashayer festival

'Al Mudhish' owned by Abdullah bin Hamad al Aamri snatched the top race for 12 km with a human rider to win the dagger and the car on the fourth day of Al Bashayer Annual Camel Race Festival in Adam on Thursday.
Amer bin Salim al Zaree was the hero for both races for 1.5 km with human riders through 'Al Shamkha' and 'Zafaranah'.
'Injaz' owned by Said bin Salim al Jadili won the main round in the morning for 8 km.
The annual event is supported by His Highness Sayyid Asaad bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs, Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan.
As many as 5,320 camels from across the GCC countries are competing in 84 rounds during the six days of races.
The event's prizes include 20 cars, three daggers, three guns, seven cups and the golden and silver swords. Additionally, the top 10 in all 84 rounds are awarded cash prizes.
The first day, February 10, was for the 'Hagayeg' category, two years old, for 4 km. Nineteen races were in the morning with cash prizes for the top ten. In the afternoon, there were 8 main races with cars, a cup, and a gun as prizes for the winner and cash prizes for the top 10.
The second day, February 11, was for the 'Lagaya' category, three years old, for 5 km divided into 15 races in the morning with a cash prize for the top 10. Seven main races were held in the afternoon, with five cars, two cups and a gun for the winners and cash prizes up to 10th place.
The third day, February 12, was for the 'Yathaa' category, 4 years old, for a 6 km race. Eleven races were in the morning with cash prizes for the top 10. Four main races were in the afternoon, and the winners received four cars, two cups, and a gun, in addition to the cash prizes for the top ten.
On the fourth day morning, February 13, four races were for the 'Thanaya' category, 5 years old, for a distance of 8 km with a dagger in the main round. Four races were allocated for the 'Al Hawl' category, 6 years and above, with a dagger for the main winner. Both categories had cash prizes for the top 10. The afternoon competitions were for human riders, with two races for 1,500 metres with cash prizes. In the main race for 12 km, the winner received an SUV car and cash prizes for the top 10.

The event, organised by the Diwan of Royal Court, took place at the Al Fulaij racetrack in the Wilayat of Barka. The final day of HM's Camel Cup Festival witnessed thrilling competitions that featured six races, where the winning camels were crowned amid enthusiastic public engagement. One of the day's highlights came in the fifth race for the 'Al Hawl' category over a distance of 8 km, where the camel 'Makhayil' from the Royal Camel Corps (RCC) retained the HM's Cup for the second consecutive year, reaffirming its distinction and outstanding performance. 'Rahiya', also from the RCC, claimed second place, while 'Al Reef' from Al Bashayer Camels took third place. In the first race of the day, for the 'Hagayeg' category over a distance of 4 km, 'Khayrah' from Al Bashayer Camels secured first place under the training of Abdullah al Wahibi. Coming in second was 'Kahal', owned by Said al Jadaili and trained by Hamad al Jadaili, while 'Al Wasmiya' from the RCC finished third. The second race, for the 'Lagaya' category over 5 km, saw 'Madhkhurah', owned by Muhanna al Saadi, claim first place, earning cup and car. 'Jabaliya', owned by Hamad al Wahibi, came in second, and 'Al Dhabi' from the RCC, trained by Hamad al Jadaili, secured third place. A show by the Royal Camel Corps. In the third race for the 'Yathaa' category over 6 km, 'Manwah' from the RCC won first place, led by trainer Hamad al Wahibi, receiving cup and car. In the fourth race, in the 'Thanaya' category over 8 km, 'Khiyal' from the RCC finished first, led by trainer Mansour al Luhaifi, who earned cup and car. 'Fand', also from the RCC and trained by Hamad al Jadaili, came second, while 'Al Asimah' from the RCC, supervised by Saud al Jabri, finished third. The final race of the festival was the sixth race in the 'Human Rider' category for over a distance of 2 km. 'Shawsharah', owned by Ahmed al Amri, claimed first place and earned icon and car, followed by 'Takreem', owned by Salim al Zari, in second place, while 'Shorout', also owned by Salim al Zari, came in third. The races were interspersed with a variety of Omani heritage performances that added an authentic atmosphere to the festival, blending excitement with cultural identity. Attendees enjoyed traditional Omani songs, along with captivating shows by the Royal Camel Corps, including the Ardha camel parade, camel polo, and chariot races pulled by camels. These events concluded with a stunning performance of the traditional Al Azi chant, symbolising heritage and loyalty. At the conclusion of the festival, Sayyid Shihab, the event's patron, honoured the winners of the various races., congratulating them on their distinguished performances.

Muscat: On behalf of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, today presided over the closing ceremony of His Majesty the Sultan's Camel Cup Festival 2025. The event was held at the Royal Camel Corps Racecourse in Al Fuleij, Wilayat of Barka. The festival was organised by the Royal Court Affairs, represented by the Royal Camel Corps. The final day of the festival included 6 rounds. "Makhayil" of the Royal Camel Corps won His Majesty the Sultan Camel Cup for the second year in a row. It secured the score during the fifth round, a stretch of 8 kilometres. Second place went to the Royal Camel Corps "Rahiya", followed in third place by Al Bashayer Camels' "Al Reef". In between the races, Omani heritage bands entertained members of the public with folklore performances, coupled with camel shows presented by the Royal Camel Corps, including the Ardha runs, camel polo and camel cart racing, while Al Azzi art tableau sealed the finale. At the closing ceremony, HH Sayyid Shihab handed over the trophies to the top winners of the festival's rounds. The closing ceremony of the festival was attended by Royal Family members, ministers and senior officials.
