Car drove erratically in 5-vehicle crash on I-93 that killed 1, DA says
Massachusetts State Police and Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan's office are asking for the public's help with a five-vehicle crash on Interstate 93 in Medford, Ryan's office said Friday.
At around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, a crash between a Toyota Camry, a Subaru Forester, a Ford Explorer, a Honda Odyssey and a Ford F350 truck with a trailer, Ryan's office said in a statement.
The Toyota Camry 'may have been operating erratically prior to the multi-car crash,' the statement read, citing preliminary information.
The driver of the Ford F350, Fredis Saravia-Corvera, 34, died after his truck rolled over as a result of the crash, State Police said in a previous statement.
A passenger in the Honda Odyssey was also hurt and hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, Ryan's office said. Everyone else in the crash remained in the area.
'As part of the ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash, investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the crash, or any activity of these vehicles prior to the incident, to contact the Massachusetts State Police Barracks in Medford at 781-396-0100,' Ryan's office said.
The crash prompted a closure of the northbound side of the highway for two hours, State Police said. All lanes reopened just before 11 p.m.
The crash continues to be under investigation.

Mass. 13-year-old charged with driving stolen car following car chase with police
Stoughton police arrested a Brockton 13-year-old in connection with driving a stolen car following an early Monday morning car chase, according to police. Shortly before 1:40 a.m. on June 9, a Stoughton police officer was on patrol on Route 138 when he noticed three vehicles driving north at a high rate of speed, Stoughton police said in a press release. The officer tried to stop the vehicles, but all three fled the scene. The officer initially pursued the vehicles, but stopped when they reached the Canton town line, Stoughton police said. Stoughton police then received a report that a Hyundai Elantra had been stolen from Manor Drive. The officer soon determined that it was one of the three vehicles he'd chased, Stoughton police said. He began pursuing the stolen Hyundai again and briefly chased it onto I-93 before it exited the highway near the Ponkapoag Walking Trail and crashed. Three people wearing ski masks ran from the car, Stoughton police said. A Brockton 15-year-old was quickly arrested, but the two other suspects fled onto the trail. Canton police soon alerted Stoughton police that they had stopped two people who were knocking on doors and asking for a ride or a phone charger, Stoughton police said. Stoughton police were then able to arrest the remaining suspects: the Brockton 13-year-old and 18-year-old Brockton resident Aydan Miguel Rivera. The preliminary police investigation indicates that the three teens broke one of the Hyundai's windows to get inside the locked car and were able to start it without the keys, Stoughton police said. Investigators believe the 13-year-old drove the stolen Hyundai during the car chase with police. Police also determined that one of the vehicles seen by the Stoughton police officer had been stolen from Abington, Stoughton police said. It later crashed on Turnpike Street in Canton, but investigators were unable to locate the driver. The 13-year-old has been charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and failure to stop for police, Stoughton police said. Rivera and the 15-year-old are both facing a charge of larceny of a motor vehicle. Rivera pleaded not guilty to the charge during his arraignment in Stoughton District Court on Monday and was released on bail with conditions, according to court records. The 13-year-old and 15-year-old are set to be arraigned in Dedham Juvenile Court, Stoughton police said. 'I want to commend the quick and coordinated work of our officers, who resolved a dangerous situation without injuries to anyone,' Stoughton Police Chief Donna McNamara said in the press release. Two airlifted after crash involving concrete truck in Coles Co.
COLES COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Two people involved in a crash in Coles County were injured and flown to a nearby hospital Monday morning. Illinois State Police responded to I-57 in Humboldt around 9:30 a.m. The two-vehicle rollover accident happened in the northbound lane near milepost 197. 22-year-old Danville man dead after motorcycle crash When troopers arrived, they learned that the accident involved a GMC Acadia and a concrete truck. The Acadia rolled over on its passenger side in the median. Two passengers in the vehicle were brought to a nearby hospital via Life Flight. Charges filed in drive-by shooting outside Burnsville High School graduation
Charges were filed Monday after gunshots were fired outside the Burnsville High School graduation on Friday night. No one was injured. The Dakota County Attorney's Office said in criminal complaints: Officers were working security and crowd control outside the high school. They were aware that two groups of people 'were arguing and flashing gang signs towards each other as officers were attempting to disperse the groups. Officers also broke up several physical altercations between the groups that evening.' At about 8:30 p.m., officers heard gunshots coming from the west side of the school. Bystanders directed them to a Toyota Camry, and officers detained the driver and front-seat passenger. The driver was identified as Abdikani Mukhtar Abdiwahab, 18, of Bloomington, and the passenger as Abdulahi Jama Ali, 18, of Shakopee. A bystander was heard saying, 'Ksoe, you missed. You dumb (expletive).' Officers learned Ali's nickname is 'Ksoe.' The bystander was wearing a leopard print or camo jacket. Witnesses reported the Camry's driver was driving recklessly and almost hit another vehicle. They saw a person in a leopard print jacket approach the Camry's passenger side, talk with the occupants and try to punch the Camry with his fist. A barrel of a gun then came out the front passenger window and someone opened fire. Officers found a handgun with an extended magazine under the front passenger seat and a bullet casing on the driver's side floorboard. They also found two bullet casings on the street and a parked vehicle with a bullet fragment in the driver's side headlight. Abdiwahab later told officers he hadn't fired a gun and said his DNA wouldn't be found on the gun taken from the Camry. DNA swabs were taken from the handgun and from Ali, after police obtained a search warrant, and are pending analysis at the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. Abdiwahab is charged with two counts each of aiding and abetting a drive-by shooting and aiding an offender. Ali is charged with second-degree assault and two counts of drive-by shooting. Both are jailed. The county attorney's office is seeking $200,00 bail or $100,000 with conditions for Abdiwahab, saying that he fired at least three shots from a handgun toward another person and an unoccupied vehicle after the graduation ceremony 'when all attendees were attempting to leave the area,' which was 'a great risk to public safety,' according to a memo about bail. Ali 'continued to drive from the scene and provided false and misleading information to law enforcement to prevent them from identifying' Abdiwahab as the shooter, said another memo about bail. The prosecution is requesting $160,000 bail or $80,000 with conditions. Two other people were arrested in the incident. It wasn't immediately clear if they would be charged Monday. The Friday before Burnsville's graduation, two people were injured in a shooting outside Mariucci Arena at the University of Minnesota after the Wayzata High School graduation ceremony.
