Andhra Deputy CM Pawan extends Rs 25 lakh aid to slain jawan's kin
ANANTAPUR: Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena chief Konidala Pawan Kalyan kept his promise made during the martyred Jawan Murali Naik's funeral and extended financial aid of Rs 25 lakh from his own funds to the family members on Saturday.
Jana Sena MLAs Arani Srinivasulu (Tirupati), Nimmala Jayakrishna (Palakonda), Anantapur-Hindupur Urban Development Authority (AHUDA) Chairman TC Varun, along with several other key Jana Sena leaders, visited Murali Naik's hometown Kalli Thanda in Gorantla mandal of Sri Sathya Sai district and paid floral tributes to the slain jawan's portrait.
Later, the MLAs handed over the cheque to Murali Naik's parents and enquired about their well-being.
On the occasion, the Jana Sena MLAs assured that the coalition government will stand by the jawan's family and told Murali's parents, Jyothibai and Sriram Nayak, that the entire nation is indebted to them, whose son had made the supreme sacrifice while defending the country.

AP CM seeks Rs 150 Cr support for HD Burley tobacco procurement
Vijayawada, June 15 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu held a crucial discussion with Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal regarding the challenges faced by farmers growing commercial crops and those involved in aquaculture in Andhra Pradesh. During his visit to AP, the Union Minister met the Chief Minister at the CM's camp office here on Sunday. The two leaders discussed issues such as procurement of HD Burley tobacco, reduction of import duty on crude palm oil, tariffs imposed by the US on aqua exports, and GST reduction on mango pulp. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu explained the current situation in the state and the hardships being faced by farmers. He also informed the Union Minister about the steps being taken by the state government to address these issues and sought the Centre's cooperation. Mr. Naidu informed the Union Minister that farmers cultivating HD Burley and White Burley tobacco this season are facing severe difficulties due to falling prices, adding that the state government has already initiated procurement measures and has decided to procure 20 million kg of tobacco at an estimated cost of Rs 300 crore. He mentioned that seven procurement centres have been set up through the AP Markfed in Bapatla, Guntur, Palnadu, and Prakasam districts. He requested that Rs 150 crore be provided through the Tobacco Board for procurement. 'Tobacco has been cultivated in 1.31 lakh hectares this year, an increase over the previous year. The reduced international demand for tobacco has led to price drops, adversely affecting farmers,' Naidu explained to Piyush Goyal and urged for amendments to bring tobacco production and marketing fully under the Tobacco Board's purview. The Chief Minister highlighted that the reduction in import duty on crude palm oil is impacting domestic farmers and pointed out that slashing the duty to 10% is denying palm oil farmers fair prices. also urged the Centre to retain the earlier duty structure and noted that the duty cut could hamper the objectives of the National Mission on Edible Oils. The Chief Minister told the Union Minister that 8 lakh aqua farmers in Andhra Pradesh are suffering due to tariffs imposed by the US on aqua exports and requested that the Centre hold talks with US authorities to reduce the 27% tariff on aqua products. He appealed to the Centre to take proactive steps to relieve the tariff burden and help aqua farmers recover from this crisis. He also pointed out that hatcheries, feed mills, processing units, and exporters are all affected by these tariffs. urged the Union Minister to reduce GST on mango pulp from 12% to 5%. He stated that GST on mango jelly is currently 5%, and a similar rate should apply to mango pulp as well. A GST reduction would benefit both mango farmers and the pulp industry. He mentioned that this issue has already been brought to the attention of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Union Minister Piyush Goyal responded positively to the Chief Minister's requests. Speaker Gupta to pay tribute to Delhi's first CM Chaudhary Brahm Prakash tomorrow
Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta will offer floral tributes to the National Capital's first Chief Minister Chaudhary Brahm Prakash on Monday on his 107th birth anniversary, an official said. Delhi government ministers and legislators will also pay tribute to the veteran leader at the Legislative Assembly's event to commemorate the birth anniversary of former CM and freedom fighter. The Assembly Secretariat has also made arrangement for Freedom Fighters to pay tribute to the first Delhi CM, an official said. Chaudhary Brahm Prakash became the first Delhi CM in 1952 and held the office till 1955. He also represented Delhi in Parliament and even served as Union minister, including as Minister for Food, Agriculture, Irrigation and Cooperatives. Earlier, Speaker Gupta hailed Chaudhary Brahm Prakash's efforts for upliftment of villagers and development in Delhi. On Saturday, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju commended Speaker Gupta for steps taken for the quick introduction of e-Vidhan (Paperless Assembly) system in Delhi Assembly for transparent and efficient governance. Laying the foundation of the e-Vidhan (Paperless Assembly) in the presence of Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, the Union Minister said: 'The laying of the foundation stone for the e-Vidhan Project at the Delhi Legislative Assembly is a commendable step towards adopting technology for legislative efficiency and transparency.' He recalled the days of President's Rule in Delhi in 2014 when he prayed for election of an efficient and dedicated government. 'Now, I can say Delhi has got an that kind of responsive government. The e-Vidhan system is being implemented within 108 days, with the sanction of Rs 9 crore,' he said. Calling a legislature the heart of a government and democracy, he said the efficiency of the Assembly is indispensable for an efficient government. 'This event marks a significant milestone in the digitisation of legislative governance,' he said. 'While several states have already implemented the e-Vidhan system successfully, it is encouraging to see Delhi joining this important national initiative. I am pleased to be part of this progressive development. I want to see the Delhi Assembly as a model assembly, and this initiative will certainly help in achieving that goal,' he said.
