Ex-Liverpool star Loris Karius' glamorous TV presenter wife Diletta Leotta dazzles on the opening night of the Club World Cup in Miami
Loris Karius' TV presenter wife Diletta Leotta was spotted attending the opening game of the 2025 Club World Cup.
The tournament got underway this weekend for the first time in its new format, with Lionel Messi 's Inter Miami being held to a draw on home soil by Egyptian side Al-Ahly.
While the opener ultimately ended goalless, the various celebrities in attendance were treated to an action-packed game that was almost punctuated by a last-second goal from the Argentinian.
One of those watching on was Leotta, who shared a series of snaps from the game to her nine million followers on Instagram.
Leotta, famed in her native Italy for her work covering Serie A on DAZN, could also be seen interviewing FIFA president Gianni Infantino prior to the game.
The 33-year-old has two children with former Premier League goalkeeper Karius, and the pair tied the knot in a private ceremony in Sicily last year.
Karius opted for a tuxedo with a white jacket, whilst his wife donned a Atelier Eme veil emblazoned with the phrase 'All I ever wanted'.
The pair exchanged vows in front of a stunning view of the Tyrrhenian Sea alongside their daughter Aria.
Leotta previously implored then-Newcastle goalkeeper Karius to consider her homeland as his next career destination so he could be closer to her and their daughter, and even suggested a potential club for him to join.
'Loris has people at his side who work for him,' she told Italian newspaper Tuttosport in 2024.
'I hope he makes the best decision for his career.
'I live in Milan, so let's say being close to Milan would be ideal for us.
'I always tell him, players who come to Serie A then fall in love with Italy and often stay there forever. I think that could happen to him too.
'[He should join] Monza or any other team in Italy. I would be happy if he came to Italy to play near his family.
'Newcastle is very inconvenient because there are no direct flights. Neither about Paris nor about Amsterdam.'
Despite her hopes, a move to the Mediterranean was ultimately not forthcoming for Karius, and he instead returned to Germany after a stint as a free agent to join second-tier Schalke.
Initially arriving on a short-term deal in January, Karius made four league appearances for the club before being ruled out for the remainder of the campaign through injury.
The 31-year-old subsequently signed a two-year contract extension earlier this week, keeping him at the club until 2027.

Auckland City shut down Kane .. and concede 10 against Bayern at Club World Cup
The good news for Auckland City was that they stopped Harry Kane scoring on Sunday afternoon in Cincinnati. The bad news was that his Bayern Munich teammates were a little more prolific, scoring 10 between them in the opening match of their Club World Cup campaign. If Fifa president Gianni Infantino was hoping his expanded Club World Cup – now containing 32 teams, playing across four weeks in 11 US cities – would showcase the depth of talent in global football, this was not a good example. The statistics were excruciating: the German champions had 31 shots – 17 of them on target – to Auckland's one, and enjoyed 72% of possession. It took 52 years for a team to score 10 goals in a Fifa World Cup game – Hungary beat El Salvador 10-1 in 1982 – it's taken just two games for a team to score 10 under the Club World Cup's new format (the largest previous win at the tournament was 6-1, when Al-Hilal beat Al-Jazira in 2021 when just seven teams took part). Sign up to Soccer with Jonathan Wilson Jonathan Wilson brings expert analysis on the biggest stories from European soccer after newsletter promotion There is some mitigation: while many argue that talent has been diluted by expanding the number of teams at this tournament, Auckland City have been a feature of the Club World Cup for some time: they have actually played at more editions than any other team. On the other hand, they're not even the best team in Auckland, let alone New Zealand. Auckland City are part-timers, and the city's professional team, Auckland FC, play in Australia's A-League. Jamal Musiala led the way for Bayern on Sunday, with a second-half hat-trick. Thomas Müller, Michael Olise and Kingsley Coman scored two each, with Sacha Boey completing the rout. Things won't get much easier for Auckland: they play another European giant, Benfica, on Friday. Bayern play Argentina's Boca Juniors on the same day, in what will be a tougher assignment than their opening fixture.

Gennaro Gattuso named Italy head coach after Spalletti exit
Italy have confirmed the appointment of the former AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso as head coach of the national team. The move follows the departure of Luciano Spalletti, who announced his own sacking in a press conference after Italy's 3-0 defeat by Norway last Friday. Gattuso joins the Italy set-up after a mutual agreement to leave Hadjuk Split, the Croatian club he had managed for a year, who finished third in the league and two points off the title. The 2006 World Cup winner has previous experience managing at the top level in club football, having been in charge at Milan, Marseille, Valencia and Napoli, leading the team from Naples to the Coppa Italia in 2020. The 73-times capped Italian became accustomed to winning trophies during his playing career. Along with the international success, Gattuso twice lifted the Scudetto with Milan. The tough-tackling midfielder also won two Champions Leagues with the club, starting in the side that beat Liverpool 2-1 in the 2007 final. 'Gattuso is a symbol of Italian football — the blue jersey is like a second skin for him,' Gabriele Gravina, president of the Italian football federation (FIGC), said in a statement. 'His motivations, his professionalism and his experience will be fundamental to best face the upcoming commitments of the national team.' 'Aware of the importance of the objective we want to achieve, I thank him for the availability and total dedication with which he has received this challenge, sharing the FIGC project for the overall development of our football, in which the blue jersey plays a strategic central role.' International management will pose different problems for Gattuso, however. Italy sit third in their 2026 World Cup qualifying group, with a 2-0 win against Moldova in Spalletti's final game having provided their only points of the campaign. Despite their success at Euro 2020, Italy have failed to qualify for the past two World Cups and have not reached the knockout stage of the tournament since their 2006 triumph. Gattuso will be tasked with guiding Italy's ageing squad to the world stage for the first time since 2014. Tel joins Spurs for £30m from Bayern Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of the French forward Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich in a deal worth £30million. Tel joined Spurs on loan in January, playing 13 games in the Premier League and scoring twice, and will sign a contract that runs until 2031 when his loan officially ends on June 30. Tel was an unused substitute in Spurs' Europa League final victory over Manchester United that ended the north London club's 17-year wait for a trophy. In January Spurs paid a £7.3million loan fee to secure Tel's services, with an option to purchase the player for £45million, but have struck an agreement with Bayern for a lower fee. Thomas Frank has approved the deal for Tel, who will become the first signing of the Danish head coach's reign at Spurs, after the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou. The forward is representing France at the European Under-21 Championship in Slovakia this month.

PSG v Atlético Madrid: Club World Cup
Update: Date: 2025-06-15T18:13:17.000Z Title: Thus far in the tournament we have had a 0-0 draw and a 10-0 win. Content: I am not sure this is the sort of 'entertainment' Fifa were hoping for. There were plenty of empty seats and zero atmosphere for Bayern's rampant win over Auckland, so Infantino must be desperate for this to be better. Update: Date: 2025-06-15T18:11:16.000Z Title: Starting lineups Content: PSG (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes; Neves, Vitinha, Ruiz; Doue, Ramos, Kvaratskhelia Subs: Hernandez, Kamara, Kang-in, Beraldo, Mayulu, Mbaye, Safonov, Tenas, Zaire-Emery Atletico: (4-3-3) Oblak; Llorente, Le Normand, Lenglet, Galan; De Paul, Samuel Lino; Simeone, Griezmann, Alvarez Subs: Azpilicueta, Correa, Gallagher, Gimenez, Gomis, Reinildo, Kostis, Witsel, Lemar, Carlos Martin, Molina, Musso, Koke, Riquelme, Sorloth Update: Date: 2025-06-15T18:00:23.000Z Title: Preamble Content: A couple of weeks on from winning the Champions League, PSG are back in action in the Club World Cup. They must be seen as favourites after being crowned the best in Europe but they might be a little tired from celebrating and a bit of international duty. Atletico finished their league campaign on 25 May, so were afforded an extra week off prior to international commitments. Will that be beneficial or are PSG in more of a flow? This is certainly the most intriguing of the games over the first couple of days of the competition. Inter Miami's opening night draw with Al Ahly did little to get people excited, so maybe two European giants going head to head will get a few more eyeballs. It will be very hot in Los Angeles for this one, which I am sure the players will be ecstatic about after a long season. Kick-off 8pm BST.
