Notre Dame star Hannah Hidalgo named finalist for two national awards
Notre Dame women's basketball fans already know Hannah Hidalgo is special. We now are at the time of year where she's being considered for national hardware, and this is the norm for her.
Hidalgo has been named a finalist for two awards presented by the WBCA. One is the Wade Trophy, which is given to the best player in women's basketball. A Notre Dame player never has won this award, and the only sophomore to win it was Maya Moore en route to becoming the only three-time winner.
Hidalgo also is a finalist for the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Award. This is another award the Irish have yet to have any of their player win.
Fans are able to vote for the winners of both awards from now until noon EDT on April 1. While Hidalgo will have stiff competition for the awards, it's great that she even has made it this far:
Good luck to Hidalgo in the fan voting.

RGIII says quiet part out loud about Aaron Rodgers-led Steelers

RGIII says quiet part out loud about Aaron Rodgers-led Steelers Aaron Rodgers is a Pittsburgh Steeler — but that likely didn't change the recent 'standard' of mediocrity. For far too long, the Steelers have accepted first-round exits in the playoffs as long as HC Mike Tomlin achieves his winning season — and Robert Griffin III believes the Rodgers acquisition does nothing to alleviate these concerns. RGIII argued on social media that despite the Steelers likely having a mediocre winning record either way, starting Mason Rudolph or Will Howard over Rodgers may have been the way to go: "The Pittsburgh Steelers flipped the script on the narrative for their season by signing Aaron Rodgers. 10-7, playoffs and early exit with Mason Rudolph or Will Howard at QB = Amazing job. 10-7, playoffs and early exit with Aaron Rodgers at QB = Fans calling for changes." Griffin hit the nail right on the head — as Tomlin was praised for taking the Big Ben-less, Devlin 'Duck' Hodges/Rudolph-led Steelers to an 8-8 record in 2019, but was criticized heavily for last year's 10-7 record under Russell Wilson at QB. It's unlikely Steelers President Art Rooney II would pull the plug on Pittsburgh's head coach anytime soon — but no one can deny Tomlin now has sky-high expectations heading into the season. No. 1 offensive tackle in 2026 cancels Oklahoma official visit

No. 1 offensive tackle in 2026 cancels Oklahoma official visit The Oklahoma Sooners have received good news over the last few days in the 2026 recruiting class. But on Monday afternoon, their recruiting efforts took a bit of a hit with five-star offensive tackle Felix Ojo. Ojo canceled his official visit, which was scheduled for the ChampU BBQ on June 20-22. Ojo told On3's Hunter Shelton, 'Not needed. Nearing my decision a lot sooner than later.' Ojo is the No. 1 offensive tackle in the class, according to 247Sports, and a consensus top-five tackle in the cycle. The Lake Ridge, Texas product has already taken visits to Colorado, Ole Miss, Florida, Ohio State, and Michigan. He's scheduled to be in Austin this coming weekend. The Sooners currently have two offensive linemen committed in the 2026 class, Will Conroy and Noah Best. Oklahoma is also in a strong position for four-star offensive tackle Deacon Schmitt. Oklahoma and coach Bill Bedenbaugh put together a strong 2025 recruiting class with the additions of Michael Fasusi and Ryan Fodje and are off to a strong start in 2026. UFC, PFL alum Chris Wade indicates retirement after 33-fight career

UFC, PFL alum Chris Wade indicates retirement after 33-fight career Chris Wade is at peace with his competitive career. An alumnus of the UFC and PFL, Wade (23-10) indicated he's done fighting in a Facebook post Monday. "There aren't many things in life harder than walking away from something you love," Wade wrote. "Something that became your identity, that provided adulation, dopamine, a sense of purpose. It's even a little more tough when you feel you are still very capable of being successful at the highest levels of the sport. I am making this post for all of my supporters who continue to nicely ask when my next fight will be. For a while my ego wouldn't let me detach myself from the possibility of getting back in the cage, but everyday that passes I am more at peace with the 13 year journey within the highest levels of Professional MMA." Wade, 37, hasn't competed since a split decision defeat to Gabriel Braga in August 2023. He was booked for a November 2023 bout, but it was canceled after he missed weight. Wade competed seven times in the UFC from August 2014 to July 2017 and went 5-2. He defeated the likes of Cain Carrizosa, Lipeng Zhang, Christos Giagos, and Mehdi Baghdad before losses to Rustam Khabilov and Islam Makhachev. Following his UFC release, Wade joined PFL where he'd finish out his career. He competed 18 times under the promotion's banner and went 11-7. Notable victories include Bubba Jenkins, Lance Palmer, Akhmed Aliev, and Kyle Bochniak. He also competed in the 2021 PFL featherweight world championship title match vs. Movlid Khaybulaev but came up short. Wade was never finished in his 33-fight pro career.
