Harrowing cause of death revealed for three young sisters

Perth Nowa day ago

The autopsy results for three young sisters allegedly murdered by their dad have been revealed as their father continues to elude a police manhunt.
Paityn Decker, 9, Evelyn Decker, 8, and Olivia Decker, 5, were discovered on June 2 near the Rock Island Campground in Chelan County, Washington days after they were reported missing following a scheduled visit with their father, 32-year-old Travis Decker.
According to a press release on June 9 from the Chelan County Sheriff's Office (CCSO), autopsies conducted by the county medical examiner determined that all three girls died from suffocation.
Their deaths have been officially ruled as homicides.

Authorities located his pickup truck days later, which led them to the remote campsite where the children were found. Inside the vehicle, investigators recovered a significant amount of evidence, including Mr Decker's personal belongings.
Blood samples collected from the scene have been analysed, with one confirmed as male and another identified as non-human, according to the sheriff's office.
Additional DNA and fingerprint analysis is ongoing. Mr Decker's dog was also located at the scene and turned over to the local humane society.
Mr Decker is currently wanted on multiple charges, including three counts of murder, kidnapping, and custodial interference, and authorities warn that he may be dangerous due to his prior military experience.
As of Sunday evening, June 8, local search operations transitioned to federal authorities, though the CCSO remains in charge of the criminal investigation. Officials cited the need to rest exhausted local teams, stating that their command staff continues to coordinate with federal search leaders.
'We had reached a point where we need to rest our local resources,' the CCSO said.
'Our teams will be ready to rejoin the search for and capture of the suspect after time off to rest and recuperate.'
Authorities have released multiple photos of Mr Decker and are urging the public to remain vigilant.
He is described as 5'8' tall, with black hair and brown eyes. Anyone who sees him is advised not to approach and to call 911 immediately. GEN The bodies of Paityn (9), Evelyn (8) and Olivia (5) Decker have been found at around 5 pm on Monday down a small embankment near the Rock Island Campground in Washington state, about two hours east of Seattle. In the wake of the tragedy, a GoFundMe campaign established to support the girls' mother with expenses and legal costs has raised more than $1 million as of June 9.
The community has rallied in support, expressing grief and solidarity amid the devastating loss.

‘Savage': Video shows former Australian Olympian whipping horse 42 times

Equestrian Australia is investigating former Australian Olympian Heath Ryan over a video that shows him whipping a horse 42 times. The footage was originally shared to US-based Facebook account Dressage Hub, before being taken down and re-uploaded to their YouTube, where it has sparked outrage in the comments section. A narrator over the footage claims that Ryan 'savagely' whipped the horse '42 times without stopping while in training. It was posted by a rider in Australia. Once the report was filed with Equestrian Australia, they asked her to remove the video, to cover it up. 'It's never-ending. This horse is completely shut down. It's traumatised in every state. This video infuriates me to the core, and I'm trying to remain calm.' EA said it was investigating whether the incident broke its welfare policieswhich protect horses and riders from physical, social, and emotional harm, as well as the international code of conduct, which says horses 'must not be subjected to methods which are abusive or cause fear'. Horse whipping is not allowed at elite levels and is heavily regulated against. Ryan could face permanent expulsion from EA and the International Federation for Equestrian Sports if he is found to have breached the code. 'Equestrian Australia is extremely alarmed and concerned by the treatment of the horse shown in this footage,' the organisation said in a statement. 'The person depicted in the video is a member of Equestrian Australia. EA is currently investigating this matter ... and will have more to say about the matter when we have more information.'

Family gives back after tragic end for missing girl

Pheobe Bishop's family is aiming to give back to a community that rallied around them in their darkest hour. A fundraiser backed by Pheobe's family has been organised to support local volunteer groups in what they hope creates a fitting legacy for the 17-year-old. Pheobe went missing on her way to Bundaberg airport in southern Queensland on May 15. Her housemates James Wood, 34, and Tanika Bromley, 33, were charged with her murder on June 6, more than three weeks after Pheobe disappeared. Officers discovered what were believed to be the teenager's remains later that day near a national park, an hour's drive from Bundaberg airport. The community rallied around Pheobe's family, with hundreds attending two emotional candlelight vigils. Family friend Tracey Berends hoped the fundraiser would help return the love. She organised the GoFundMe campaign that has received the family's backing, with money to be raised for local volunteer and not-for-profit groups. More than $7000 had been donated by late Thursday, with the local SES volunteer group and Pheobe's former school set to benefit. "The GoFundMe was created after speaking with Pheobe's family with the sole purpose of supporting local charities and volunteer organisations that were involved in the search for her, particularly the SES," Ms Berends told AAP. "These volunteers worked tirelessly on their hands and knees through difficult terrain and did so without expecting anything in return. "It's important to the family that these selfless efforts are acknowledged and supported in Pheobe's name." Pheobe's former school - the not-for-profit learning centre Y School in Bundaberg that is assisted by volunteers - has also been targeted for the fundraiser. "There is absolutely no financial gain being taken by the family," Ms Berends said. "Their only hope is to create something beautiful and lasting in remembrance of Pheobe, a way to honour her kind, gentle spirit and the impact she had on so many lives." Pheobe's mother Kylie Johnson said the fundraiser was a way to acknowledge a school where her daughter thrived as well as the SES volunteers who helped "bring our baby home". "I've even had a few (SES volunteers) approach me with hugs and sorrys that they couldn't get her home sooner to us. They didn't give up and they got her back to us!" she posted on Facebook.
