Pamela Ling's disappearance: cops record statements of 47 individuals, still no new leads
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have recorded the statements of 47 individuals to assist in the investigation into the disappearance of Datin Seri Pamela Ling Yueh on April 9, but no new leads have emerged so far.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said that four of the individuals, namely her three children and a close friend, had their statements taken in Singapore and the rest here.
'All statements to assist in the investigation have been taken but there have been no new leads so far,' he told the media after the 2025 Inspector-General of Police Media Appreciation event at Bukit Aman here today.
Rusdi said investigations also found that there had been no cash transfers from Pamela's bank account to other individuals and there was no indication of political elements involved in the case.
'So far, we have not seen any evidence pointing in that direction (involvement of politicians),' he said.
Regarding claims of her husband's involvement, Rusdi said investigations are ongoing against everyone, including the individuals close to the victim
He added that the remand order against Pamela's husband was denied because there was no need for it since he had given his cooperation.
'Initially, we wanted to remand her husband under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code but it was denied. So, we fully utilised the 24 hours that he was detained to carry out our investigations,' he said.
Rusdi added that investigations found that the last time Pamela contacted her son in Singapore was a day before her disappearance.
Commenting on allegations that Pamela had applied for foreign citizenship, Rusdi said that was a personal application and the police have yet to ascertain it.
On April 9, Pamela, 42, was reported missing while on her way to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters in Putrajaya, travelling via an e-hailing service.
Police received a report about her disappearance at 3.02 pm on the same day.

Daim's widow to challenge Ilham Tower seizure in court

(Website pic) PETALING JAYA : The widow of the late former finance minister Daim Zainuddin will challenge the seizure of Ilham Tower in court. In a statement, Rajesh Nagarajan and Sachpreetraj Singh Sohanpal, who are acting on behalf of Naimah Khalid, said the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) repeated seizure of the Kuala Lumpur city centre landmark was 'pure harassment'. 'This is vindictive, unlawful and a blatant abuse of power by MACC. This is contrary to the rule of law; it is the law of the jungle,' they said. This is the anti-graft agency's second time seizing the tower on Jalan Binjai after making a similar move on Dec 21, 2023. In a strongly worded statement, the lawyers pointed out that MACC had already seized Ilham Tower previously, raising doubts over the justification for taking the same action again. Questioning whether MACC was 'playing musical chairs with the law', they stressed that no corruption charges have been brought against Daim despite repeated allegations and insinuations by both Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki. 'Having failed to produce any charges, they are now targeting our client with yet another seizure,' they said. 'They want to keep seizing our client's property even though there's no evidence of corruption. 'We will, on behalf of our client, challenge the seizure of Ilham Tower in court immediately.' Azam previously said the commission was considering seizing over RM2 billion in undeclared assets linked to Daim, his family and proxies. Eight new investigation papers were opened after receiving fresh information from foreign agencies. On Tuesday, MACC said it had obtained a court order to freeze £132 million (RM758.2 million) worth of assets in London belonging to Naimah and her family. The assets include two commercial buildings, five luxury residences and one bank account, Utusan Malaysia reported. According to MACC, investigations revealed that the assets were linked to suspected offences under Section 4(1) of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001. In January last year, Daim claimed trial to a charge of failing to comply with the terms of an asset declaration notice issued by MACC. He was accused of not disclosing his ownership of 38 companies, 19 land plots in five states, six properties, two unit trust accounts and seven luxury cars. MACC said he had asked for five deadline extensions but still failed to comply. Naimah also faces an asset declaration charge. She is accused of failing to declare her ownership in various companies, several plots of land here and in Penang, and two vehicles. After Daim's death on Nov 13 last year, the prosecution withdrew the charges and the court granted an order discharging and acquitting him.

KUALA LUMPUR: Toh Puan Na'imah Abdul Khalid will challenge in court the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) second seizure of Ilham Tower. In a statement, her lawyers Rajesh Nagarajan and Sachpreetraj Singh Sohanpal described the repeated action as "pure harassment" and accused the MACC of acting beyond the bounds of the law. "This is the most ridiculous action yet taken by the MACC. The same building has already been seized, and yet it is now being seized again. Is the MACC playing musical chairs with the law?" the statement read. The lawyers also criticised the authorities for allegedly targeting Na'imah's late husband, former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin, despite no corruption charges having been brought against him. "It bears repeating that, despite the prime minister and the MACC chief's repeated allegations and insinuations against Daim, no offence of corruption has been brought against him. "Now, having failed to bring any charges, they are harassing our client with a second seizure," they said. They added that the move, without any evidence of wrongdoing, violated the rule of law and amounted to persecution. Earlier, the MACC said it had been authorised to seize Ilham Tower once again, a building owned by Daim's family. The commission said it had obtained authorisation from the deputy public prosecutor. According to the MACC, the seizure was based on a Notice of Seizure of Immovable Property under Section 51(1) of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLATFPUAA), dated June 4. It added that authorisation for the seizure was granted pursuant to powers conferred on the public prosecutor under Section 376(3) of the Criminal Procedure Code. Ilham Tower, located in downtown Kuala Lumpur near the Petronas Twin Towers, houses a four-star hotel, office spaces, a gallery, and other facilities. This is not the first time the MACC has seized the In December 2023, it was reported that the MACC had invoked its powers to seize ownership of the multi-million ringgit tower. Sources said the seizure period was 18 months, the longest ever obtained by the commission. It was understood that the move was part of the MACC's investigation into a corporate transaction valued at RM2.3 billion involving publicly listed Renong Bhd and United Engineers Malaysia Bhd (UEM). A news portal had reported that the seizure was linked to Daim's refusal to comply with MACC requests to declare his and his family's financial holdings. However, the MACC had previously seized various immovable properties, including land, fishing vessels, and oil tankers, as part of its investigations. The seizure notice for Ilham Tower was dated Dec 18, 2023, and published as an advertisement in several newspapers, including the New Straits Times, on Dec 21 the same year.
