‘Tuk Tuk' makes big impact; takes OTT by storm with massive viewership
Sometimes, a film doesn't need big stars or massive budgets to leave a lasting impression. Proving this point once again is the small-budget Telugu film Tuk Tuk, which has become an unexpected hit on OTT. Recently released on Amazon Prime Video, the film has quickly climbed the charts and currently holds the No. 3 spot on the platform's trending list, surprising audiences and industry insiders alike.
According to reports, Tuk Tuk has already crossed 100 million views—a remarkable feat for an indie project. What makes this achievement even more impressive is the film's lack of a star-studded cast or flashy production values. Instead, it relies on a heartfelt story, natural performances, and a director's unique vision to win over viewers.
Directed by a debut filmmaker, Tuk Tuk blends drama and humour seamlessly, creating a screenplay that is both engaging and emotionally resonant. The film's strength lies in its simplicity and the honesty in storytelling. Every element—from direction and acting to music and narrative—works in harmony to make the film stand out.
The actors, many of whom are newcomers, have received widespread recognition for their authentic performances. In particular, some of the younger cast members have become social media sensations, thanks to their dialogue delivery and screen presence.
Tuk Tuk is yet another reminder that content is king. Its success proves that honest filmmaking backed by a compelling narrative can find its audience, regardless of budget or star power. The film has not only brought well-deserved attention to its cast and crew but also lit a beacon of hope for aspiring filmmakers and actors in the Telugu industry. If you haven't watched Tuk Tuk yet, it's streaming now on Amazon Prime Video—a must-watch underdog story.

Want to watch 'Sinners' on TV without breaking the law? Here are some great streaming options
After making waves at the global box office, 'Sinners', the supernatural horror film starring Michael B. Jordan, has finally arrived on digital platforms. Directed by Ryan Coogler, the film became available for streaming on June 3 on Amazon Prime Video and BookMyShow Stream. But there's a catch. Sinners is surely on OTT, but it isn't part of any subscription catalogue and is currently available only as a premium rental. In India, viewers will need to shell out ₹ 499 to watch the film at home. 'Sinners' first hit theatres on April 18 and quickly became a box office success, grossing over $350 million worldwide. It now holds the position of the eighth highest-grossing film of 2025. A big part of its popularity is thanks to Jordan's powerful performance in a dual role, portraying twin brothers Smoke and Stack Moore. His portrayal of the troubled siblings added emotional weight to the film's dark and suspenseful narrative. Even as the film moves to digital, 'Sinners' continues to play in select cinemas across India. This gives audiences a choice: pay a premium to rent the film at home or experience it on the big screen one last time. With its moody atmosphere, supernatural tension, and a leading man at the top of his game, 'Sinners' remains a compelling watch. However, the decision to offer it only on rent may divide viewers — some may see it as worth the price, while others might wait for it to join a streaming subscription later. The film features Michael B. Jordan in dual roles as twin brothers with a criminal past who return to their hometown for a fresh start, only to face a mysterious supernatural force. The cast also includes Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O'Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller, and Delroy Lindo. 'Sinners' is now the eighth-highest-grossing film of 2025.

'Sitaare Zameen Par' makers shares his opinion on marching of tech in cinema
Director R.S. Prasanna, who is awaiting the release of his upcoming film 'Sitaare Zameen Par', feels that human beings will soon catch up with the technological changes in filmmaking. The filmmaker spoke with IANS in the run-up to the release of his film, which features Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh. He recollected how he saw Indian cinema legend Kamal Haasan experimenting with a digital camera, Red Dragon. Speaking with IANS, Prasanna said, "I think the industry is pretty fast in adapting, like I remember when 35mm film was there and I was in film school and Kamal Haasan sir was testing the Red camera in our L.V. Prasad Film Institute, Chennai where I studied. He was doing a test shoot. I remember all the people around saying, 'it's just a fad and it'll not happen, it's not gonna happen', and it did". Aamir Khan's altered AI video hits cyberspace; 'Mr Perfectionist' issues clarification on 'endorsing' a particular political party The director said that one cannot stop the march of technology and one has to adapt. The audience will demand a change, the filmmakers will rise, the technological change will happen as it should, and experiments will keep happening, some will click, some will not. He further mentioned, "But I think one thing which will never change is the way our hearts beat, so as long as the heart is there in everything, the visual is only pixels, the sound is only decibels, but that feeling, that soul, that is, as long as we have a heart, stories told by humans will always be relevant". He then cited the example of romance as to how the shape or form of romance in cinematic storytelling has changed but the soul is the same. He shared, "If you see around yourself, romance has been there from early manage, they may say romance has changed, no romance has not changed, the medium has changed, today you call it situationship or anything else but, still the heart pains if you don't get to be with the person of your choice". "I feel unless genetically our heart changes or our mind changes, I think storytelling and emotions will be the same, the form will keep changing and we have to be on the awareness of that as a director, but I think for me as a filmmaker, I'm only looking for the soul, which I think soul is very old, so it won't change that fast", he added. Produced by Aamir Khan under his banner, Aamir Khan Productions, 'Sitaare Zameen Par' is set to release in cinemas on June 20, 2025.
