Police search for man charged with sexually assaulting girl, 12, in Minneapolis
MINNEAPOLIS — Police are still searching for a man accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl in Minneapolis in October.
An arrest warrant has been issued for 24-year-old Danylo Boldon, who was charged last week in Hennepin County with one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
According to the criminal complaint, the victim was reported missing on Oct. 8, 2024, a few blocks east of Lake Nokomis.
Hours later, a resident called 911 to report a girl had rang their doorbell and said a stranger had "grabbed her and put her in a small black car and drove around" before raping her, the complaint states. She said he eventually released her near a fast-food restaurant about a mile north of where she was reported missing.
She was transported to Hennepin Healthcare, where the hospital's assault response team confirmed she had suffered multiple injuries in the attack. With help from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, investigators pinpointed Boldon, whose profile is in the National DNA Index System due to a previous offense in Wisconsin.
The complaint states the victim told investigators her attacker had a tattoo of a rose on his hand, which Boldon does, according to records from a previous police encounter he had in Minnesota.
Boldon is believed to be unhoused and his current whereabouts are unknown. He could face up to 30 years in prison if convicted.

According to Hennepin Healthcare, the number of non-fatal overdoses is up about 45% compared to last year. Dr. Tim Kummer, the Assistant Medical Director of Hennepin EMS calls the uptick troubling. "When you have an increase in non-fatal overdoses, you'll inevitable have an increase in fatal overdoses," Kummer said. Healthcare leaders say they are working on a plan to get ahead of this spike in non-fatal overdoses before they become fatal. Back on E. Lake Street, those living in the area say they see the drug use in real time. "We are all the time threaten by violence by drug dealers in their corners," said business owner Rodrigo Cardoso.

Suspect in custody after Mapleton housemate found dead, officials say
A suspect is in custody after the person he lived with was found dead in the southern Minnesota home they shared, authorities said. The investigation started just after 2 a.m. Tuesday with an abandoned car on Highway 22 near the Terrace View Golf Course in Mapleton, according to the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office. Despite a witness's help, authorities could not find the driver. Deputies went to the Mapleton home of the vehicle's registered owner, where they found him dead "with obvious signs of trauma," the sheriff's office said. Police have not shared his age or identity. Authorities eventually found and arrested the driver of the abandoned car, who also lived with the victim. Mapleton police and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are investigating with the sheriff's office. Authorities say the public is not in danger. Mapleton is about 100 miles southwest of Minneapolis.

Charges to be dismissed in St. Paul sexual assault case
A sexual assault case against a 50-year-old accused of raping a man in St. Paul he met on a dating app is being dismissed due to a lack of evidence, according to the Ramsey County Attorney's Office. The charges against John Henry McCaster allege he sexually assaulted a man at a home in the Payne-Phalen neighborhood on New Year's Eve 2023 after the two met on the Grindr app. He told police McCaster had insisted that he drink a 'blue drink' and after doing so 'began to feel drunk,' then passed out and awoke naked, the charges say. Police had already arrested McCaster about two hours before the man called police on Dec. 31, 2023. He was picked up in Vadnais Heights on suspicion of drug possession (methamphetamine) and possessing a gun (he was prohibited after having been convicted of a crime of violence) and later charged with both offenses. McCaster was found with the man's driver's license and debit card and other items at that time. McCaster later told investigators they had consensual sex. Police carried out a search warrant at the East Side home and found blue liquid in a pitcher, which was sent to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for testing. On Wednesday, McCaster pleaded guilty to the gun charge. As part of a plea agreement, the sexual assault case will be dismissed at his sentencing 'given a lack of evidence to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt, including the remaining liquid that the (man) drank testing negative for any controlled substances,' Dennis Gerhardstein, Ramsey County Attorney's Office spokesman, said in a Friday statement. The man who reported the assault agreed with the settlement, Gerhardstein said. McCaster's attorney did not respond to a request for comment Friday. McCaster faces a mandatory five-year prison sentence on the gun charge. Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 15.
