Canada's Jesse Marsch cleared by Concacaf after investigation into alleged use of ‘offensive language'

Canada men's national team head coach Jesse Marsch has been cleared of any wrongdoing by Concacaf following an investigation into his alleged use of offensive language towards officials during the Gold Cup fixture against Honduras.
Concacaf's disciplinary committee found 'no clear evidence' Marsch, 51, disregarded the competition's rules.

He will be eligible to return to the touchline for Canada's third Gold Cup fixture against El Salvador today (Tuesday), having served the two-game suspension he received for his red card against the USMNT in March.
A Concacaf statement read: 'Concacaf recognizes the (Canada Soccer Association) CSA's constructive engagement in the Disciplinary Committee's investigation'.
Concacaf had initiated disciplinary proceedings regarding allegations Canada Soccer and Marsch 'disregarded regulations applicable to suspended match officials and used offensive language toward Concacaf match officials' during the victory over Honduras on June 18, a fixture that Marsch was suspended for.
Multiple sources with knowledge of the matter, who requested anonymity because they are not authorized to speak publicly, indicated the proceedings had been in relation to an incident stemming from confusion over where Marsch had been permitted to watch the fixture from at Vancouver's BC Place. It was alleged he then used language Concacaf deemed 'offensive'.
Canada Soccer told The Athletic it had been working to resolve the matter.
Separately, Canada Soccer has been fined an undisclosed amount by Concacaf's disciplinary committee for two breaches regarding match operations during the fixture. The fines relate to 'breaching security protocols for accredited delegation officials' and 'failing to comply with anti-doping procedures by not providing the required representative for the halftime doping control draw'.
Canada are top of Group B after taking four points from their opening two matches and can secure their quarterfinal place by avoiding defeat against El Salvador.

Fever's Sophie Cunningham celebrates hitting 1M TikTok followers after sticking up for Caitlin Clark

Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham started out last Wednesday with just over 300,000 TikTok followers coming off a heated game against the Connecticut Sun, which saw her get ejected when she doled out some retribution before the buzzer sounded. The moment she tussled with Sun guard Jacy Sheldon, who had poked Caitlin Clark in the eye earlier in the game, she became an instant sensation. Cunningham had previously gone viral before for her outfit choices while she was with the Phoenix Mercury. However, even she may admit that she never saw her popularity soar as it did over the last six days. On Saturday, Cunningham surpassed more than 1 million followers on TikTok and thanked her newfound fans for their appreciation. "should buy yall a beer or 2! Cheeeers friends," she captioned a video. As of Tuesday morning, Cunningham had 1.4 million TikTok followers. Cunningham gained huge favor for her apparent defense of Clark, who was not only poked in the face, but pushed to the floor in the team's win over the Sun. She was fined for her actions following the foul on Sheldon and for the ejection, but she was adamant in her defense of Clark. "During that, it was just part of the game. I think the refs had a lot to do with that. It was a build-up for a couple years now of them just not protecting the star player of the WNBA," Cunningham told reporters days after the team lost to the Golden State Valkyries. "At the end of the day, I'm going to protect my teammates. That's what I do." Ahead of Sunday's game against the Las Vegas Aces, Cunningham showed off her bond with Clark and fellow teammate Lexie Hull. She wore a shirt that read, "Tres Leches." Cunningham and the Fever have hit a losing spell the last two games but have an opportunity to get back on the right track Tuesday night against the Seattle Storm. WSIB Workers Deliver Petition and Letter to Board of Directors as Strike Enters Second Month

TORONTO, June 24, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, striking members of the Ontario Compensation Employees Union (OCEU/CUPE 1750) will deliver a formal letter and petition to the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board of Directors, demanding urgent action to end the ongoing labour dispute that has left more than 3,600 frontline workers off the job for over a month. The letter, addressed to WSIB General Counsel David Luther, outlines serious concerns with the employer's handling of negotiations, including delays, refusal to table a final offer, violations of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act (WSIA), and unlawful retaliation against workers exercising their right to strike. It calls on the Board to immediately intervene and hold WSIB leadership accountable. Accompanying the letter is a petition signed by hundreds of striking workers across Ontario, urging the Board to bring negotiations to a fair and timely conclusion. The petition calls on WSIB to deliver immediate workload relief and fair wages, and to respect the collective bargaining process. "WSIB leadership has failed to bargain in good faith, failed to address dangerous workload levels, and failed to uphold the law," said Harry Goslin, President of OCEU/CUPE 1750. "That's why we're taking this message directly to the Board. They have the power — and the responsibility — to step in and stop the damage being done to injured workers, frontline staff, and Ontario's economy." The letter details: WSIB's refusal to table a final offer or allow workers to vote on the employer's proposal; Widespread delays and service disruptions for injured workers and businesses; Unfair labour practices, including surveillance, intimidation, and misinformation; Workload data showing anxiety and depression rates among staff at more than double the national average; A potential breach of WSIA, due to auto-adjudication practices that bypass proper review; Stagnant wages that lag behind both inflation and comparable workplaces. "This strike is now in its second month because of deliberate choices made by WSIB leadership and enabled by political interference," said Goslin. "If the Board wants to restore trust and integrity to this organization, they must act now." The Golfer Aiming to Follow in Arnold Palmer's Footsteps for Team USA

Keegan Bradley had just driven home from the Travelers Championship last summer and put his children to bed when he plopped down in his chair and began looking forward to a few weeks off. That's when his phone started buzzing with a call that left him completely stunned: Bradley had been tapped as the U.S. Ryder Cup captain, making him the youngest American to assume the role in over half a century.
